You know full well this is how the tigers are kept their whole life. However, by attempting to persuade people that the tigers are kept differently before and after the show you are acknowledging that most people think keeping tigers in these conditions is cruel.

Animal behaviorists and others state that the repetitive behaviors of non-stop head swaying and compulsive pacing show mental "stress". Mental stress is what animals feel if they're not fed for a day or two. The repetitive, compulsive behaviors clearly indicate that these animals have lost their minds or are speedily on their way to it. If we saw people swaying their heads like this non-stop, most of us would deem them in need of immediate psychiatric help.

Why don't people rise up and demand that the circus be banned immediately and forever? Then these poor, mistreated animals can go to a sanctuary and live somewhat happy without having to be beat and kept in cages not even big enough to house a human.
I am so glad you posted this, the Circus is coming to the town I am in, and Forever since I was a child I have found something very disturbing about circuses and Zoo's. That being said, and as sad as this is, imagine the psychological effects of confinement and deprivation a human being experiences being in similar conditions. In the United States we have the biggest incarcerated population in the world, we have the biggest Jails and Private Corporations running this so called reforming
Institutions, I know people have committed crimes and deserve to be punished. But the manner of this punishment should not be inhuman. Most jails lock people up in a 6*6 cell, and those who have committed violent crimes do not see get to go outside for more than an hour every 24 hours. And we expect to treat our animals better? That isn't the way to treat and heal a criminal mind, people who are caged go insane, and if they ever get freedom. They will only commit another crime.

The owner of this 'family' circus entered the US illegally & then asked for asylum (what, circus asylum?). Now he is torturing animals in this country, hitting this girl w/ sledgehammers & using bullhooks. Even if you don't agree w/ peta check out the 6 PAGES of USDA violations on this circus.
He's had shows canceled for refusal to have criminal background checks done on his employees!
@iceybree ther is no law that states you have to perform background checks to operate a business or give shows. those are things that reputable shows do to keep from having problems and losing employees everytown.
I agree with TheBadAsian they get these tigers when they are very small. They never learn to hunt and/or protect themselves and survive in the wild which is taught by their mothers as they grow. They would die out in the wild. Yet they are still wild animals and are extremely dangerous.
I went to see the white tigers/lions in Vegas at the Siegfriend and Roy secret garden at the Mirage. I saw one big white tiger going back and forth like that and he looked very stressed. Someone should look into that place.
Don't be naive. There is a lot of wild left and it needs to be protected. These tigers were not taken from the wild they were bred to be mistreated for Ringling's profits and that is a crime. Ringling circus is cruel to those tigers, even if you nerds can't see it. Just imagine you where in that cage day and night, 7/24, every single day of your life. if you believe in evolution which you should, then you can understand predators under captivity can ultimatley destroy the predator. Meaning in captivity they no longer need the strength, speed, claws, and teeth to hunt. If we continue to think we are helping tigers by increasing thier numbers in captivity we are wrong because eventually we can be responsible for forcing the predatory instincts of these cats which will change more than just thier behavior

this isn't 'love' and 'care'. If they loved the animals, they would let them run around in a big pen. Do you keep your dog in his cage all day? No you don't. Do you take your dogs for walks? Yes you do. Well these animals aren't getting any walks are they. They have clearly been in a cage for a VERY long time. And yes these animals are crazy. Natural animals do not pace back and forth or bob their heads.
They do get out in a big pen a lot more often than you think they do. Iknow first hand having set up practice rings far more often than I would have liked to on my off time for this. The cage pieces pesa muchas. Yes I do walk my dogs, whenever I feel like it. They have a dog door & a big yard, so I really don't have to walk them much anymore unless I feel they are getting bored. These are not wild animals though most circus animals are bred in captivity not caught in the wild as you think.
Clearly the tigers are stressed and bored. So clearly they have been in that small little cage for hours and hours and not running around. I don't think they are caught in the wild and i know they are bred in captivity but they still have instincts. Like my dog was bred but he still has hunting instincts and my horse was bred but he still has flight not fight instincts.

I have no intentons of going to those shows and support them. How was that video twisted? Thats a real show with real animals and its cruelty. Those animals have clearly been locked in those cages for a looong time. Its not like they are trained to show that kind of stress. And there is no emotional viewpoint theres only right vs. wrong. #1 the water stop is for refreshing the trains supply of water & give the Animals a chance to stretch their legs(Elephants & other easily handled animals.) They can leave if they want, but they come right back. I don't think a tiger treated like that would come back.
Horses are suprisingly similar to these 'exotic' animals. They show the same sign of bordem and stress so i clearly know enough. My horse would never trust me if i treated him like dirt. He isn't my way of making money, hes my team, my partner. I listen to him and he listens to me. If he doesn't want to do something..I won't make him. I have a BOND with him and clearly circus animals don't.
If your family was in the circus I would know you or somebody in your family. the circus world is a tight nit family & most everybody knows or knows of someone that knows someone that knows somebody else. if you were to play six degrees of seperation you would usually only need 3 degrees to find anyone. so yes I do know what you know jack. also the tigers do get to strecth. in ringling their are larger cages backstage you dont' even know about.

no I'm not a handler but I know many of them. circus animals do ahve a bond too. it might not be as mutch with the hired hands as they come & go but with the true masters it's allway's there. no elephants are not easy to handle and a punch to them is like a tickle to you so don't judge on your own senses. roy horn was mauled by a tiger who thought that he was playing when he did not realise his master was frail human.
I NEVER said anything about how strong animals are. THEY are AMAZINGLY strong so don't think I don't underestimate them. Riding can be a fatal sport and Ive been injured so many times. Just tonight I lost my balance and flew off and now i have a sand burn running the whole length of my back. When your around animals you have to constantly be careful but a lot of people are harsh on the animals to FORCE them to listen instead of gain their trust.
You need to establish yourself as alpha in a respective way. Clearly roy whatever didn't do that. The tiger clearly didn't know his boundries very well. My horse Alibi is amazingly careful with me. I'm happy to see that he cares so much that he is almost to careful with me. lol nobody else though, just me because I gained his trust and he knows his limits which is the prober way to do things. My chances of getting seriously hurt are decreased a lot now.

you see, what alot of you people dont understand, is that these animals used in shows, do like it. i have traveled with them before. i worked with the lipizzan stallions and at every town, they were let to run and be horses. we took them out everyday to ride and or lunge them when people werent around to work them up. show animals get worked up when lots of people are around because they see people and anticipate a show and get excited. try seeing these animals behind some of the doors, honestly
oh yeah thats right i didnt work for them because i didnt put a er at the end of lipizzan, my bad. do your homework, they are called lipizzan horses as well as lipizzaners. and actually, they when on tour they are kept in 10x10 stalls and are transported in trailers 4 across with 10 horses to a semi trailer. but you know what???????
animals & their handlers have a special bond. yes they do tell them through body language & other forms of communcation that they enjoy through a special bond. sad to say that a few do break this trust but this is not true of all or most cases. but being an animal trainer/owner you would know this. However if you think this is not the case then join & make change from within the orgnization istead of making change that will never happen from the outside.

I have been in more cages with lions, tiger's, 7 bears (oh my.) than I care to mention. I even know candy butcher dude that the tigers taught the act to him. They are born & raised in captivity. Most exotics in shows other than ringling are rented from one man, a domestic breeder who probably owns more than any other person alive. However if you show them no fear there is not much to worry about as long as you don't act like prey. I have had neighbors to have big cat's in his living room,no prob

Reguardless, if you think these animals are being treated well, in a cage barley larger than them, then you are a sick person. And just so you know, I am not meaning to sound extreme, like some crazy PETA people. Hell, I'm not even a vegitarian. But when I see an animal being kept in horrid living conditions, and more than likely being beaten to perform, I must say something.

Hey I never pretended that it was a perfect system. Nobody is.but the majority of exotic masters earned the title of master by earning trust, & training with positive reinforcement instead of a chair & pistol(or whip. insert your own clyde beatty reference here.) circus maximus was a horrible thing that lead to the extinxtion of thousands of species. today's circus is a vertibale love in even in the "worst" of situation. but most of these folks love them like their own children.

Having a dog and having a tiger is a huge difference. Dogs aren't even anything like wolves anymore. There have been experiments done showing that due to the massive amount of breeding over and over again, dogs have become reliable on humans. You could probably find the information on the internet. I saw a documentary on televison about it about a month ago. And I dont understand why you keep bringing it up when I agree with you.
no as a matter of fact it's very similar.I have had friends whos' lions lunge around the house just like dogs. as far as wilness it varies from cat to cat generation to generation. the only diff is time.dogs did not immediatly take to hanging out with man.I don't use the internet as a source from this as it's secondary informtaion compared to reality, that I see with my own two eyes I have 20/10 vision in both eyes better than perfect.my dog however does roll in shit to hunt similar to wolves.
No its not similar. It's very different. Bottom line- tigers, lions, bears ect. are not pets and you shouldnt put people under the impression that they are. And yes, in a way that is what you are doing. They arent pets. They can kill you. A household dog won't kill you (unless of course they werent brought up properly). These are not the performance cages circusboy and you know it. These are the cages the tigers spend the majority of their life in. You find it easy to justify this cruelty because you are on the outside of the cage looking in. If you had to live in a cage just big enough to take a few steps you might feel differently. Tigers want to move about freely just like you, why you find it so difficult to empathize says something sad about you.
I'll tell you how not wild they are. I know people who keep big cats in their living room like house cats. Tyron tabler started life in Ringling as a snow cone vendor. The Cats taught him the act. All he did was go through the motions in the show to make it look like they were being commanded by him.

well the process has to start somewhere that's for sure. also in a democracy soverieign citizens have the right to take inheirant risk's ( keeping lion in house) if he get's killed so is life, the world keeps moving. dog's took thousands of years to domesticate. dog's were predators at one time as well. the man did have facilities for the lions as well as allowing them free access to his home while he was awake. key point is peta = denial of freedom of choice for sovereign peoples.

I am so glad you posted this, the Circus is coming to the town I am in, and Forever since I was a child I have found something very disturbing about circuses and Zoo's. That being said, and as sad as this is, imagine the psychological effects of confinement and deprivation a human being experiences being in similar conditions. Institutions, I know people have committed crimes and deserve to be punished. But the manner of this punishment should not be inhuman. Most jails lock people up in a 6*6 cell, and those who have committed violent crimes do not see get to go outside for more than an hour every 24 hours. And we expect to treat our animals better? That isn't the way to treat and heal a criminal mind, people who are caged go insane, and if they ever get freedom. They will only commit another crime.

I agree with TheBadAsian they get these tigers when they are very small. They never learn to hunt and/or protect themselves and survive in the wild which is taught by their mothers as they grow. They would die out in the wild. Yet they are still wild animals and are extremely dangerous.

I went to see the white tigers/lions in Vegas at the Siegfriend and Roy secret garden at the Mirage. I saw one big white tiger going back and forth like that and he looked very stressed. Someone should look into that place.

if you believe in evolution which you should, then you can understand predators under captivity can ultimatley destroy the predator. Meaning in captivity they no longer need the strength, speed, claws, and teeth to hunt. If we continue to think we are helping tigers by increasing thier numbers in captivity we are wrong because eventually we can be responsible for forcing the predatory instincts of these cats which will change more than just thier behavior

this isn't 'love' and 'care'. If they loved the animals, they would let them run around in a big pen. Do you keep your dog in his cage all day? No you don't. Do you take your dogs for walks? Yes you do. Well these animals aren't getting any walks are they. They have clearly been in a cage for a VERY long time. And yes these animals are crazy. Natural animals do not pace back and forth or bob their heads.

They do get out in a big pen a lot more often than you think they do. Iknow first hand having set up practice rings far more often than I would have liked to on my off time for this. The cage pieces pesa muchas. Yes I do walk my dogs, whenever I feel like it. They have a dog door & a big yard, so I really don't have to walk them much anymore unless I feel they are getting bored. These are not wild animals though most circus animals are bred in captivity not caught in the wild as you think.

#1 the water stop is for refreshing the trains supply of water & give the Animals a chance to stretch their legs(Elephants & other easily handled animals.) I NEVER said anything about how strong animals are. THEY are AMAZINGLY strong so don't think I don't underestimate them. Riding can be a fatal sport and Ive been injured so many times. Just tonight I lost my balance and flew off and now i have a sand burn running the whole length of my back. you see, what alot of you people dont understand, is that these animals used in shows, do like it. i have traveled with them before. i worked with the lipizzan stallions and at every town, they were let to run and be horses. we took them out everyday to ride and or lunge them when people werent around to work them up. show animals get worked up when lots of people are around because they see people and anticipate a show and get excited. try seeing these animals behind some of the doors, honestly

oh yeah thats right i didnt work for them because i didnt put a er at the end of lipizzan, my bad. do your homework, they are called lipizzan horses as well as lipizzaners. and actually, they when on tour they are kept in 10x10 stalls and are transported in trailers 4 across with 10 horses to a semi trailer. but you know what???????

animals & their handlers have a special bond. yes they do tell them through body language & other forms of communcation that they enjoy through a special bond. sad to say that a few do break this trust but this is not true of all or most cases. but being an animal trainer/owner you would know this. However if you think this is not the case then join & make change from within the orgnization istead of making change that will never happen from the outside.

actually if you knew anything about animals you would know that they do revel in pleasure to satisfy their masters when treated properly which is the case most of the time. ;-) the relative minority of infractions you see here do not represent the whole,the majority,or even the mainstream of the industry. you just shot down your credibility, by showing your ignorance. very true night rider. of course you could film me taking my dogs to the lake to run, & say that when they were shaking as we approached that they were afraid of the outing. When in all rality they were excited to be there. These people have spent time 0 with any exotics much less on a traveling show to know zip about animal behavior then think they know the innuances of what means what. when the elephants squeek it's joy not fear. they really don't fear much as they can kill anything with 1 hit

I agree, the general public is ignorant for the most part about what happens behind Ringling Brothers closed doors and open doors apparently. Thank you for the video, my family will never again attend a circus that uses animals.

because every animal was a wild animal and it should not be put in a chage.. not a tiger so why is a hamster (for axample), or a bird no problem?! it's a wild animal also and not happy in a cage, like this tiger THINK ABOUT THAT!!!

I have been in more cages with lions, tiger's, 7 bears (oh my.) than I care to mention. I even know candy butcher dude that the tigers taught the act to him. They are born & raised in captivity. Most exotics in shows other than ringling are rented from one man, a domestic breeder who probably owns more than any other person alive. However if you show them no fear there is not much to worry about as long as you don't act like prey. I have had neighbors to have big cat's in his living room,no prob

Reguardless, if you think these animals are being treated well, in a cage barley larger than them, then you are a sick person. And just so you know, I am not meaning to sound extreme, like some crazy PETA people. Hell, I'm not even a vegitarian. But when I see an animal being kept in horrid living conditions, and more than likely being beaten to perform, I must say something.

it's not a thought it's a reality. my thought patterns do not change reality but reflect it. the cages you see them inside the performance area are totally different than the ones back stage. Not more than likely to be beaten & I know mark oliver gebel personally from childhood. he works much as his father which is anti chair & pistol, & totally positive reinforcement of positive attributes. You should not make conjecture based on erroneus 3rd hand information it destroys your integrity.

Hey I never pretended that it was a perfect system. Nobody is.but the majority of exotic masters earned the title of master by earning trust, & training with positive reinforcement instead of a chair & pistol(or whip. insert your own clyde beatty reference here.) circus maximus was a horrible thing that lead to the extinxtion of thousands of species. today's circus is a vertibale love in even in the "worst" of situation. but most of these folks love them like their own children.

the point is not me exposing my ego through knowledge of many industy's I have knowledge in. I'm more than willing to share. The point is to make an ommlette you have to break a few eggs. If not for the inheiritly rude act of seperating animals from there "natural habitat" we have been invading it for a while. either way life would be starved to death in the wild or in a cage. where the animal is being exposed to society & slowly domesticated over time. your dog was a wild animl @ one time too

Having a dog and having a tiger is a huge difference. Dogs aren't even anything like wolves anymore. There have been experiments done showing that due to the massive amount of breeding over and over again, dogs have become reliable on humans. You could probably find the information on the internet. I saw a documentary on televison about it about a month ago. And I dont understand why you keep bringing it up when I agree with you.

no as a matter of fact it's very similar.I have had friends whos' lions lunge around the house just like dogs. as far as wilness it varies from cat to cat generation to generation. the only diff is time.dogs did not immediatly take to hanging out with man.I don't use the internet as a source from this as it's secondary informtaion compared to reality, that I see with my own two eyes I have 20/10 vision in both eyes better than perfect.my dog however does roll in shit to hunt similar to wolves.

No its not similar. It's very different. Bottom line- tigers, lions, bears ect. are not pets and you shouldnt put people under the impression that they are. And yes, in a way that is what you are doing. They arent pets. They can kill you. A household dog won't kill you (unless of course they werent brought up properly). I'm done trying to come to an agreement, you clearly want to keep on going.

These are not the performance cages circusboy and you know it. These are the cages the tigers spend the majority of their life in. You find it easy to justify this cruelty because you are on the outside of the cage looking in. If you had to live in a cage just big enough to take a few steps you might feel differently. Tigers want to move about freely just like you, why you find it so difficult to empathize says something sad about you.

I'll tell you how not wild they are. I know people who keep big cats in their living room like house cats. Tyron tabler started life in Ringling as a snow cone vendor. The Cats taught him the act. All he did was go through the motions in the show to make it look like they were being commanded by him.

I really dont care what you think as far as tigers being pets, they arent. Ever heard of that tiger in England who this guy raised from a little cub for 11 years and then he was killed by it. Or what about that guy who was mauled and nearly killed in vegas? So no. They are not "tame". Those are facts that are true and were on the news and shown. To be honest, I have no reason to believe you at all. So why dont you go to India where tigers are as they should be. Wild.

hey you can try to discount reality all you want. But this is not just one or two people here.Yes I did hear about a couple of people getting attacked.Thing is a few attacks have been known to be the animal playing & not realizing the strength is much more than or frail body's can handle.i.e.roy horn. you can believe what you want but I know far more about this than you ever will in a million years.If not for captive bred animals many in the wild would not have been preserved for lack of circus.

I would never go to one of their crazy protest. But, I dont think keeping a lion in a household is right. I dont think its safe for either the people or the animals involved. Whether or not you want to believe it, lions, tigers ect. are predators that, unlike dogs, have not been domesticated for hundreds of years.

well the process has to start somewhere that's for sure. also in a democracy soverieign citizens have the right to take inheirant risk's ( keeping lion in house) if he get's killed so is life, the world keeps moving. dog's took thousands of years to domesticate. dog's were predators at one time as well. the man did have facilities for the lions as well as allowing them free access to his home while he was awake. key point is peta = denial of freedom of choice for sovereign peoples.

it is NOT the training that is in question...but keeping such a large animal in a cage ..where it can only pace back and forth. That's what disturbs people. Wild animal should remain in their own habitat.
