Why it takes so long? My guess is because Novocaine is diluted with an oily base so is rather viscous, and with the needle at such a small gauge, it takes longer to administer.

The slower you inject, the less quickly the tissue distends, so the injection is less painful. That may be one reason he took so long.
@AticEnigmaTV they did it like that with mine, i was wondering too so i asked and my dentist said the circulation to the teeth is only slight so you have to inject the local anaesthetic at the same rate that the blood caries around the mouth, so it can take up to 2 or 3 minutes for the full injection to be administrated.

it looks way worse then most enjections u would usually get but to be completely honest it really doesn't hurt that bad it really just depends were u get the shot at and also i would way rather get novicane than not get
be more cautious and may not get all the decay out. Just do it, you'll not have to do it over later.
And it doesn't hurt all that bad anyway. I have had more injections than I can count, in many places including A LOT of paletal and even some intraosseous (in your bone) ones for alot of procedures and surgery, and it really doesn't hurt that bad. Just deal with it, and you will feel so much better!
Also: DDS don't use novocain, that's been overtaken by other 'cains: lido, carbo, benzo etc.
When you get an injection, your DDS takes a long time with it because it hurts much less than if they go quickly! The tissues in your mouth are kinda shoved away with the volume of liquid that they put in your mouth, but if the shot is injected more slowly, some of that liquid can dissapate and it hurts less.
Trust me. You don't want to deny the DDS a shot, just get the 'cain. If you deny anesthetic, you will get worse work done. A DDS doesn't want to hurt you, and so they really will

Just ask for the gas... then they'll rub the junk on and then give you the shot. You won't feel it because you're basically drunk. I had 2 cavities filled when I was 8 and I didn't feel a thing! Hope this clears things out for some people. It really doesn't hurt with the gas! BECAUSE YOU ARE DRUNK!! YOU FEEL PRESSURE BUT IT DOESN'T HURT!!!!!

I am not a dentist, but if they are going to drill in you I would say yes. they put on a topical solution to deaden the gums then the shot is next. I really felt nothing. I was just playing it up for the video.

If it's inserted too fast, tears would come out unexpectedly.. thats means it will hurt alot, but for a few seconds.

be more cautious and may not get all the decay out. Just do it, you'll not have to do it over later.
And it doesn't hurt all that bad anyway. I have had more injections than I can count, in many places including A LOT of paletal and even some intraosseous (in your bone) ones for alot of procedures and surgery, and it really doesn't hurt that bad. Just deal with it, and you will feel so much better!
Also: DDS don't use novocain, that's been overtaken by other 'cains: lido, carbo, benzo etc.

When you get an injection, your DDS takes a long time with it because it hurts much less than if they go quickly! The tissues in your mouth are kinda shoved away with the volume of liquid that they put in your mouth, but if the shot is injected more slowly, some of that liquid can dissapate and it hurts less.
Trust me. You don't want to deny the DDS a shot, just get the 'cain. If you deny anesthetic, you will get worse work done. A DDS doesn't want to hurt you, and so they really will

i have two tattos and was kinda scared but nothing compares to having these kinds og shots.. they stick the needle up to ur jawbone, and gums.. that hurts like hell

Just ask for the gas... then they'll rub the junk on and then give you the shot. You won't feel it because you're basically drunk. I had 2 cavities filled when I was 8 and I didn't feel a thing! Hope this clears things out for some people. It really doesn't hurt with the gas! BECAUSE YOU ARE DRUNK!! YOU FEEL PRESSURE BUT IT DOESN'T HURT!!!!!

ok big deal 3? im 11 and i needed 2 adult molers pulled and i got about 5 or 6 of those shots all over my mouth and i actaually didnt care and he used a metal needle and went in my roof of mouth,cheek,gums,each a few times,BEAT THAT

I am not a dentist, but if they are going to drill in you I would say yes. they put on a topical solution to deaden the gums then the shot is next. I really felt nothing. I was just playing it up for the video.

i'm scared to death nf needles to so if there is someone there let them hold your hand, ask the dentist to let you know when the needle is coming and simutaniously with the needle squeeze the handle of the chair and or close your eyes youo still feel it but not as much

at first it just stings. the rest was just me playing it up. after they get the novacaine in, you can not feel a thing. even when drilling, I could not feel anything.
