  • This is urban, techno, Burning Man for nerds

  • Just came back from San Diego Comic Con and realized how much Comic Con sucked. I so totally want to go to Dragon*Con more now.

  • Yeah, you got the Mad Science Recruiting Drive and Bake Sale! I loved being part of it for the last two years.

  • At 6:02 I could swear the gingerbread man is secretly Rick Moranis...

  • I wish I could go SO bad! This looks like such fun! Any Alice fans out there?? :)

  • Is that Voltaire running away from that dragon?

YES!! VOLTAIRE!!! NOW SHOW MY JENNIE AND I'LL HAVE THE ULTIMATE FANGAISM!!

  • This was on yesterday's PBS-World rotation, at least in my area. Check your local listings; it might be playing near you soon!

  • I just finished watching this movie.

    It was AWESOME!!!!

    Truely great work!

  • Okay.

    I am a kid.

    I have never been.

My mom said we could either go to this (She has been many times)

OR she could get me car.

What in the world did you think I choose?

    My Ford can wait.

  • I loved this documentary!! I was in it like 3 times!! Woohoo!!

  • This i a great video. If you like this you should check out a documentary called Hobocon. It was filmed at Gencon and shows the convention from the inside. It is a fun look at what a convention is like for most first timers. I really enjoyed it!

  • wow love how they STILL mention anime but there IS very lil of it compared to any other section.......If I could have the number of cosplayers from AWA go to Dragon*Con's parade they match probably even or more with the 501st....

  • Ah Dragon Con how I love thee! XD

  • Will this be available on DVD?

  • Awesome!

    3:40~3:42:

The birth of The Box Hero Corps/ Box Avengers!!!

  • Fantastic looking documentary. You all put a lot of hard work into this and it looks like it really paid off. Congratulations!

  • I want to watch the whole thing. But I don't live anywhere NEAR Atlanta...T^T Sucks...

  • Great job guys!

  • I am proud to be one of these so called Geeks and yes we will rule the world.

  • I am proud to be one of these geeks. And yes We will rule the WORLD!

  • I DVR'd it in glorious uncompressed 1080i. It was awesome. I have never gotten to get to DragonCon, and now my health won't let me. But this look was wonderful. Thanks PBA 30!

  • lol at the police bike vs land speeder

  • 5:44 "I can't see a THING in this helmet...!"

  • Not long now... ATL here we come!

  • This does a really great job at capturing the awesomeness that is Dragon*Con! I got to participate in the "Thriller" world record attempt last yr, and it was hard trying to explain (to outsiders) why I did it in the first place, and what it was like dancing with over 900 like minded people. I intend to forward the link of this clip to any of my family or friends that ask me why I again.

    thanks for sharing!

    Kerry =)

  • If there is one show YOU watch this year, one convention YOU go this year, watch this special. I am very honored to be a special part of Dragon Con and I love being interviewed to pieces!

    DANGER WOMAN

  • This is fantastic! You've done a great job at presenting a slice of all the genres that come together at D*C.

  • Awesome! Exponential thumbs up! I heard about this documentary being filmed last year through my DCTV director. I really wanted to work on this--don't know how I missed my chance. It looks really amazing--I will definitely watch the full version when it comes out.

I could write a huge list of all of the people I recognized in this video.--ATL Cosplayers represent! One more month until the chaos! :D

  • As a Dragon Con volunteer since 96 I am so happy the world is finding out our "little" party. Saw so many people I know in the video. Can't wait to see the rest

  • AWESOME I spotted my old professor Bob

  • I want to go to the US just for this. Looks like geek heaven on earth.

  • That's my son - the little Spiderman (and me and my wife) at 6:43!

  • Ya'll come to Hotlanta and have 4 days of AWESOME FUN!! It's one of the highlights of the year!!

    WOOHOOO! Dragon*Con!!

  • This is fantastic! You've done a great job of presenting a slice of all the genres that come together for D*C.

  • Get ready, The Hunter's Lair will be there to invade...

  • Kick ass! Totally in there at 7:29 in the purple corset with the big gun! Whoo!

  • hey...that's me at 5:42 with the big ass M-60...

  • this is awesome! this will be my 4th year in a row at dragoncon (coming from chicago). its the geek mecca!

  • Very nice work! Didn't treat us like idiots and explained a bit about why its unique amongst conventions. If you haven't ever been? You should go!

  • It should be titled "Four Days at Dragon*Con with 10,000 of My Closest Friends" (because I'm not so sure about the other 30,000 people).

  • VOLTAIRE!!!!!! I LOVES ME SOME VOLTAIRE!

  • D*Con is greatness, my home city hosts it & it doesn't get much better than not having to pay for a hotel during a con!

  • Bonus! I know some of the people in this vid! :-)

  • I've been attending Dragon*Con since 1993, and it's still a high point of my year! There's really nothing like it. I tell people that the year before your first D*C will be your last year *not* attending D*C. I'm usually right.

  • Full disclosure: I am one of the 1,500+ people that help make Dragon*Con the most amazing party in the world!

I can not wait to see this entire video. Short teaser though this is, it reminded me of why I love Dragon*Con so much.

    Thank you!

  • I'm dying to see this. Hope the PBS station in the Twin Cities picks it up!

  • Great preview of the documentary.

  • Beautifully edited. I subscribed to see the next edition.

  • Very well done, looking forward to the rest.

  • You got DangerWoman!! LOL!!

  • Nice opener, guys.

  • Last year was my first D*C. The very first thing I saw walking up the street from a parking lot was that guy getting pulled over on the speeder in the street by the cops at 1:48. Great video!

  • Great production values and audio. I like the opening shots of Atlanta, showing the calm before the storm.

  • This is great! When/where do we find more info on this????

  • We have a facebook page at facebook dot com slash DragonConPBS

The documentary is an hour and will premiere on PBA30 (Atlanta's PBS Station) on Saturday August 28th at 9pm.

It will re-air first thing on Sunday 29th at 12am and again at 8pm.

It will also be offered for distribution to all the other (278?) PBS stations so look for that in the months following our premiere.

  • @PBAUNDERWRITING Will this air during this years Dragon*Con (maybe on the Dragon*Con channel in the hotels or however they do that?) Or is this going to be released as a DVD in the near future?

  • @Trousle It will be playing in the Dragon*Con film festival. It's looking like Sunday the 5th at 11:30 am in the Hyatt Learning Center. Will be screening with another Con documentary.

  • Best docu we've seen on Dragon*Con! Looking forward to seeing Part II!
