Europe is still a capitalist society, just with slightly more social safety nets than the U.S. If you want to buy a car or a boat, you can.
Now I will agree with you that state deficits are out of control but I don't buy that the issue is social programmes. The wealth distribution in the US is insane. The top 1% owns more than 33% of everything and the top 5% own over 60% of the country and this is still moving fruther to that extreme.

OK. I found the graph that sort of shows the data you cited. It is revenue from sources as a percentage of total. Income from customs (tariffs) are down cuz we have more free int'l trade. Income tax down as a percentage while insurance trust revenue (ITR) up. ITR is Social Security & Medicare taxes which are also income ('payroll') taxes. People have been paying huge SS & M taxes while less is paid out. The gov 'borrows' all the surplus and spends it. Now those programs are broke, going in debt.

But I think it's hard to have any sort of political discourse without including the people that, in the mainstream, are considered authorities on the subject. Of course expenditure increases over time, if for population increase alone. That's where the deficits are coming from, I 100% agree with you on that. But I don't see taxes as the cause of these problems. Rich people are getting better at hoarding wealth and avoiding taxes while poor people are on the increase.

OK. I found the graph that sort of shows the data you cited. It is revenue from sources as a percentage of total. Income from customs (tariffs) are down cuz we have more free int'l trade. Income tax down as a percentage while insurance trust revenue (ITR) up. ITR is Social Security & Medicare taxes which are also income ('payroll') taxes. People have been paying huge SS & M taxes while less is paid out. The gov 'borrows' all the surplus and spends it. Now those programs are broke, going in debt.

Don't get me wrong I see what you're saying and I do partly agree.
But I think it's hard to have any sort of political discourse without including the people that, in the mainstream, are considered authorities on the subject. In an ideal world you're right we could ignore the Dobbses, Limbaughs and Olbermanns but fact of the matter is these guys have tremendous influence and ignoring them completely, if you're the only one doing it, does nothing to counteract the bile they spew.

Can I just correct one thing, here in Holland, very "socialist" by American standards, it's fairly standard for the reasonably successful to own a boat. Farms not so much because we're quite a tiny urbanized country, that's true. We have many millionaires here too from TV or other business. Same is true in England.
The way you paint it it's either capitalism or some sort of totalitarian socialism. I think we attempt to take the best of both worlds here, with the occasional problem of course.

if you listen to Dobbs then you would realize that he didn't say to kill Dr. Dean, he was making a reference to Stoker to show how persisten that Dean is and that he will not stop

In context Lou Dobbs is clear. I understand the word, metaphor. Mr. Dobbs did not lead in, grammatically, as a metaphor.
Sentence structure, phonetics, and inference.
Hero worshipers of Mr. Dobbs will take it literally. You may know better, but angry people do not.

I explained Mr. Dobbs' intent in action. That can not be a common denominator, but the end result of comment. What sophistication have you, in excuses, or downplay? A denominator would be, bigot, racist, wrong-talker, hypocrite, malcontent, senile, oligarch. etc.
I do respect your position, though see its shortcoming.

the lowest common denominator i was speaking of is reference to his commentary chances of someone to take it literally. you would agree that someone would have to be dense to take it literally. therefore no one should have to dumb down there point to make simplrtons understand.

Timothy McVeigh took it literally, and bombed a building. I agree, that there are a few dense people, but those are the dangerous ones. I do not know who they are, where they are, nor what drives them to commit horrible acts.
You and I understand, as most may, but again it is the few that commit hostile acts. If the point is sophisticated or backwards, the idea can trigger the, "dense," to violence.
It is perspective, regardless of education that prompts actions.

It is about what is being said. Anger is easily fueled. Fear is the basis for anger. I support anyone speaking their mind, objectively. The media is subjective, wanting to promote negative spin. What if Mr. Dobbs, or anyone, avoided the ad hominem approach, and focused on the issue? The dense would have nothing to fuel their fear. Mr. Dobbs and others are mongering fear.
That is my issue. Can they, anyone, speak to the nature of the issue?

"Crazies," do watch cable. I support passion; it projects conviction. It is when emotions overwhelm logic that unsettles me. Are there any crazies on, CNN, MSNBC, or Fox? Crazy has nothing do do with dense. It afflicts the weak minded, fearful, and those who have resentment, for any reason.
I can tell, when words become personal, the speaker has lost his bearings, and is desperate to regain control, of an issue. Hence, fear mongering, to frighten their base.

Agreed. In a desperate attempt to control all heath care, the industry has its shills, pundits, and hacks. First they twist and mangle, then attack individuals and groups. The insurance industry already has a stopping point for health care: preexisting conditions.
The insurance industry wants to take money, not pay it out. The public option is just that: an option. Supporters of insurance corporations promote negative influence, with the goal of monopolization.

Well said. Dobbs and other right wingers like to say outlandish, violent things and then play it off like they were joking. They may have been, but the right doesn't have a sense of humor, so they'd probably mistake it for being serious and want to possibly harm Dean or others. I don't know why Dobbs, Beck and others of the right try to crack jokes; they almost ALWAYS blow up in their faces. :\

Thanks. They think it funny. To them, it is a simple ad hominem jest, until they are retaliated upon. Then is is an outrage, and demand justice. They like being at one end of the stones throw, until they feel the other.
We know better. All of us can communicate and avoid mindless wrong-talk. The problem is those that benefit, from the tent they group in.
