  • LordFinisher's got the Elerium fever! D:>

  • I once completed a Snakeman + Chrysallid UFO with only 6 soldiers and lost none of them. God Bless the Flying Suit/ Heavy Plasma combo.

  • I'm surprised walking target is still alive

  • damn postal dude is just using he second emedement right and you had to freak out on him

  • squadies are like redshirts from star trek they always die

  • @MrPhazerBeam

The Startrek group even wanted a rookie group of White shirts, but they all died before filming.

  • Looks like after all these years, the Postal Dude has finally started living up to his family reputation. He just HAD TO rage... lol.

  • why not stun your troops under control

  • @Jeneral28 They're chaff. That's the point of them existing. Target practice.

  • i cant believe sam died he was my favorite guy

  • I saw a couple of time when you were buying and selling : Tank / Cannon. That mean that you can actually buy Armored Fighting Vehicles?

  • Yes, you can buy and later build better vehicles hardwired with the latest Artificial Intelligence that allows them to move around and destroy aliens without the requirement of being manned.

The thing with the Tank series is that they're really abysmally weak - you're better off getting the Hovertank/Plasma or Hovertank/Launcher - but the Hovertank/Plasma's weapon is weaker than that of the Heavy Plasma, and I think the Hovertank/Launcher has some weird bug associated with it.

  • Granted, you can still utilize them as moving bullet shields, but for a practical weapon, I've not found a use for them until the SWS series (Submersible Weapons System) in X-COM: Terror From the Deep.

That and honestly, I prefer manpower - you can trade four humans for a tank, but there's a downside being that you lose three TU meters that could be used to fan out and annihilate aliens - but at the same time, they also are likely to fall to one shot. I've had mixed experiences.

  • I see, that would mean that each tank occupies four spaces,...

Well, one other question: What's the purpose of researching the different alien corpses? I mean, would you get new technology, or,... say I completed research on a Cyberdisk, would that let me construct Cyberdisks, or what?

  • I wish I could construct Cyberdisks - that'd REALLY even up the playing field, but you inevitably make your own when you develop the Hovertanks - they aren't as sleek as the Cyberdisks, but strapping a Blaster Launcher to it really helps.

Researching alien corpses are the equivalent of doing thorough autopsies in an effort to fully explore and define each specific alien. It's just to give the game a little more flavor, to be honest.

  • @the13tharcana this depends a lot for example the alien that can paralise people(complety forgot he name)if you reseacher him you can reseacher a special shield that makes impossible to him to paralise people and there is also another that if i remenber right if you reseacher him you can reseacher chemical grenades next

  • btw, you loosing a lot of soldiers

  • Meh - I still beat the game without losing over double digit soldiers.

  • how this is possible that in that size ufo you have so crap weapons? you should have a heavy plasam from a long time. and why did you took so many soldiers? i ususaly take only 6, it allow them get more experience and get a better rank faster

  • A response:

Why I have Laser Rifles: Because I can.

Why not Heavy Plasma: Trying to Stockpile.

Why so many soldiers: See answer #1

Rank is based off of how many grand total soldiers you have - to make a Commander, you need about 30 soldiers active and kicking post-mission. Would less allow for greater experience? Yes. Do I care? Not really, no. I'm going for speed when it comes to tactical ground combat, and that requires multiple units fanning out with fire support.

  • Especially since the bulk of my LP was nothing but ground-based combat, I wanted to tear through it as fast as possible. Nobody wants to see a mindlessly long LP of me burning a good 10 episodes doing nothing but waste time with limited numbers of soldiers.

    These aren't TFTD Trawler missions.

  • ive found a trick if you take the wepon off of a stunned enemy and throw it away when and if it wakes up it will be defence less

  • Actually, the moment they drop to the ground, all of their equipment goes with them to the ground. Since there is no "pick up weapon off the ground" routine for any of the aliens, they wouldn't even bother to pick up what they had to begin with, making the melee-only aliens the only ones you really have to worry about if you stun them.

  • oh thats even better i was worried about you getting murderd by all the aliens that you stun cus you seem to do it alot lol

  • dude im subscribing to you i want to watch more

  • Nice Let´s Play so far. Looking forward for more.

  • Nice job! You should do these more frequently!

  • Nice work on this mission.

  • You did decent in not freaking out.

  • Why didn't you have Lord Finisher use the medikit on Man Who Is Not Seen? The dude had only seven hit points left and three fatal wounds!

  • Because I haven't researched MedKits yet. I'm still trying to get the Plasma Cannons built. Besides, he didn't die - he barely survived.
