If none of the below is the problem, maybe you're getting interference from other wireless frequencies?? Or maybe you're too far away from the USB reciever, or maybe there's too many hard obstacles between the mouse and the reciever.
Or maybe even all of the above 0.o
I have a wireless laser mouse 7000 too, and it works perfectly all the way on the other side of my room, as far as i can see it moving on my monitor. Maybe you just got a lemon... this is microsoft, remember..

Try on different surfaces. Wood irritates this mouse a lot. Try changing the battery. Get a mouse pad too.
