  • JUST MISSED!!! "(You Don't Know) How Glad I Am" just missed making the Billboard's Hot Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 11 weeks in the Hot Top 100 in 1964!!!

  • I just heard this today for the first time. It was played by Herb Kent on V103 in Chicago. It is definitely a catchy tune and her voice is very nice. It certainly caught my ear. I had never heard of her before (I'm 33) but I may look into more of her stuff. I first thought she was saying "how the hell I am" too! But that wouldn't really make sense for this time and type of song...

  • This my favorite song because my Aunt Anne used to play it all the time. I just love this song ...Love you forever Auntie, RIP...... Your favorite niece "Sugarmama"..

  • This is a REAL singer. and this is REAL music.

  • well one more

  • Sometimes she sings, "How the hell I am."

  • My Mom (RIP) played this cut non-stop!! Thank GOD for music......that way she will ALWAYS be with me!!

  • Ahh I see this song hit the shores of "Kiwiland"... what a gorgeous tune this was/ still is.... sure brings back sweet and bitter memos.... tks. alot for this great sound and share...5stars

    ... you don't know how glad I am" ... :-))))))))))

  • Thank you still beautiful to listen to after all these years.

  • Cheerrs for the post...☺

  • A quality song that my parents used to love playing.

  • Never ever get tired of hearing this Nancy Wilson classic

  • When a singer like Nancy Wilson sings a song, it's been done in a way no one else in the world would or could do it. I mean she is an original.

  • I love this song. It takes me back....

  • Nobody can do it like Nancy. This version is THE version. She is a class act. Love that heavy swamp-walk beat and, of course, her impeccable voice.

  • In my opinion, her BEST song.

  • This song is amaaaaaaazing! I was introduced to it on Siriusly Sinatra. Just...classic!!!

  • just love it shes awesome what a voice and the song amazing, her and sarah vaughan my favs.

  • This song showcases the immense talent of Nancy Wilson. Her voice catches a million nuances in less than 3 minutes. Wow.

  • Great song but for years I thought she was singing "how the Hell I am (especially at :42 and 1:14)." I now know what she was singing, but to the casual listener ... Anyway, thanks for the memory - and the posting.

  • ms. wilson has given us some of the best music ever.

  • WOW!!..Brilliant.

  • The best love song ever!

  • Sends chills!

  • mmmmm  :}

  • Dope

  • Do a search on "Joyce Cobb How Glad I Am" for a funky approach to this song..from around 1980.

  • what is the music in your raclette video

  • What a wonderful Nancy Wilson! Great song... Many thanks SPR, many thanks.

  • heerlijk nummer

  • I could listen to this classic all day long

  • @cachalot57 So coule I

  • Love this, love this so much.. terrific!!!

What a great rendition and backup...

  • Nancy said she patterned her singing style after Little Jimmy Scott. Heard her say her children heard him and said "Mama, he sounds like you." She said, " No, I sound like him"

  • Sweet Nancy Wilson...with her unique singing voice. One of my favorite jazz artist

  • the first time i heard this songs was a few weeks ago when we bought our 3rd jukebox. wow what a cool song especially hearing it played on a single.

  • One of my all time favorite songs EVER! What a Vocal! AWEsome!

  • I love this so much! Nancy Wilson is sooooooo great! Love seeing the record spin! Remember the noise of the needle? Was it my imagination, or could I really hear that on this version?

  • I could listen to this all day. Amazing vocals!!!

  • First time I heard this song in years, my granddaughter [layed it for Grammy, and Nancy still sings it today just as she did for my high school prom in Houma, 1964

  • Fairconcepts1 - you mentioned Houma. Would that be Houma, Louisiana?

  • Yes! Alma Baker graduated from Southdown/Saint Lucy's in 1964.

  • he Kiki Dee Band did a really good up tempo version of this that deserved some recognition; every time we played that version the crowd went wild.

  • This song is timeless! Great lyrics. All the ladies kill on it, Nancy Wilson, Maria McKee, and don't forget to check out Ellen Foley's beautiful version complete with soul sax.

  • So GOOOOOOD!!! Love this song. Thanks for posting it.

  • Ok, Ok...I have to admit this song slams Baby Love cause Ms. Nancy sings the crap out of it which is why she got the grammy. I love my Supremes and Baby Love was/is a great song but against this winner, Baby Love lost. I admit it now.

  • The Baby,

  • I think I remember this song in the summer of 1964 when The Supremes Where Did Our Love Go was released.

  • COME ON NOW!!! This tune EMBARRASSES Baby Love.

  • Wow...this song beat Baby Love? I do love this song but I think Baby Love had a more catch than this song. But overall, this is my song that my mom played for me and I fell in love with.

  • this is the song that beat "Baby Love" by the Supremes at the 1965 grammys.....as much as i love my girls.......MISS NANCY tears this up!!

  • This song is SO classic...but it needs to

be heard in STEREO...there's an echo and

presence that comes out that one can't

hear as well in mono sound...

Other singers doing this song? No way,not

for me! This is THE definitive version...

  • This song is too much (In a good way)

I just have to sway when this plays-

    Love it.

  • Most excellent!

  • has anyone heard peter grants version on this in a duet ?????????????

  • This is just a beautiful song. One of Jamaica's diva's KAREN SMITH does a beautiful rendition of this as well!!!

  • I just love the piano contribution to this. It really adds another dimension of emotion to it.

  • This song t

  • Didn't Kiki Dee cover this?

  • She did! Brilliantly, in my opinion. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be on you tube!

  • Not yet it doesn't - but fingers crossed!

  • It's also done by Maria McKee on her "Peddling Dreams" album!

  • Crikey! This takes me back to ... medieval times! Beautiful number. Oh, pure nostalgia! You don't know how glad I am to listen to it again ... and again ... and again ...

We don't have to WIN the human race ... just SAVE it ...

  • Thanks for this. Its very hard to find and I've been searching. It takes me back to my youth in the sixties when this song gladdened the heart and spirits of a factory girl with a mega crush.

  • Great song, nice to hear it again! 8)

  • This is going to be the first dance song on my wedding day! Aretha Franklin also does a kick ass version of this. Thanks for posting!!!

  • beautiful.....just beautiful

  • my mom's favorite song by her favorite singer...brings back memories of childhood...Mom always HAD to get tickets for all of us to see her perform on the Tommy Banks show here in Edmonton. She (mom, not Nancy) has been gone now for a year and a half, and we play this song often. Thank you Nancy.

  • I wish I could find accompaniment msuic for this song or even a karaoke version.

    Got any suggestions?

  • Sorry no help for Karaoke. Just put the airphones on, close the door and sing to you hearts content.

  • I want to perform this in public, thanks for the suggestion, but that won't work.

I will continue my search for a the music. I know... that the micro phone karaoke has it on one of their chips but I am not going to buy that system for one song!

  • @sarahsings1 Try myspace Karaoke...They should have this song...Good luck...

  • @sarahsings1 If you get a stereo version of this song AND if the vocal has been mixed to come out of dead center you can remove the vocal for the most part with the aid of a vocal eliminator which comes on many mixers. This recording has a lot of reverb which usually renders the vocal eliminator ineffective. I use this to remix recordings so I can play tenor sax on place of the vocalist or soloist. Results will vary. I suggest you talk to a tech at a music store on availability.

  • Hear, hear.

  • you have to know what love is to understand this
