  • I only need a few minutes to boil water or cook soup.

  • Finally; someone who can explain WHY this stove is designed like this! Thank you! And I'm curious; how sooty do your pots get from using the isopropyl alcohol?

  • Rubbing alcohol doesn't turn into only heat... there is a by-product of combustion.

  • its blurry i cant really see man..

  • Ya, crummy camera, crummy conversion.

  • If you make the 2 half's a little long you willnot need no tape and no leek. Here a hint take tomato juice can makes a good inter wall not cut to put together

  • I have since heard about the tomato juice can.... I think I'll try it!

  • If the pot gets slightly off-center and off-balance, the seam can open and leak. I prefer to tape them closed.

  • Pretty cool-- or should I say HOT!. I made an older version of this using a cotton cloth for wadding inside and pure Isopropyl alcohol (a drug store item). If I recall I did that because the fire was less likely to go all over if it tipped. That was back in the late 1950's with the old style soda or soup cans. Excellent video and thanks for posting it

  • The old style cans were probably thicker and more sturdy.

  • very cool

  • Neat "O" thanks, I really learned something new that I can use.

  • ok so I finally made the HOW-TO video for my ultra light Foster's stove please enjoy it and rate mine too.

  • Great work! I would highly recommend you reshoot this with better audio and video b/c it's kind of a strain to see and hear. Excellent!

  • Check out my video's (2) I am inspired! I will make one How-to-video also. One more thing for your viewers..... If you try the streching method, the can doing the streching MUST be opened and a small hole in the bottom helps. I spent an hour trying to break the vacum I created when I shoved an unopened can into the stove base. trial and error.

  • Also on the PCT I used a dollar store turkey pan cut into shape as a windscreen. Same stuff at REI is 20-30$. now when I use the "FOSTERS" can I cut them so small, about one inch they need only 1/4 to 1/2 oz depending on wind, to boil 2 cups water in around three min.

  • they are wider and so on the trail there is less tip-over and also a small amount of increased heat. I used the spead method and it becomes so strong you can almost stand on it and I weigh 170.

  • watching your video has motivated me to show a step by step of mine. i think you will like mine better. For only a small amout of added weight I make mine out of "Fosters" beer cans.

  • Thank you for the info.

It's not hard to figure out this was my first attempt. I'm using an analog Hi-8 camcorder, converting to upload here.

    Thanks.

  • It's blurry to make the file small enough for youtube to accept.

  • whyys it so blurry?

  • omg,

    love thiss.

    thankks.

    this goes to my favorites,

    which means...

    5 stars!

  • Thank you alot !
