Sad that "forclosure of a dream " is a fitting song Harley screwed up here BIG TIME and the vrod motor was taken from one of ericks early desighns (watch Buell factory tour) Erik talks about his help in developing the motor that was going into the vrod LUCLEY Erick is keeping the dream alive with ERIK BUELL RACING Hopefully when the dust settles he is back up and running building these great bikes again. I love my 97 S1
I think they are really ugly, but if you've ever been to America then you will understand where their customers are coming from. Many Americans just buy all American vehicles and this is an "all American" sports bike... doesn't make it good though.
"Foreclosure of a Dream" ... damn, too appropriate.
What makes it worse is that its happening at a time when they were bringing in the Austrian engine to power their bikes. 1125cc liquid-cooled V-twin, 146 hp, 82 ft/lbs, 10,500 rpm redline. Rotaxs Helicon engine.
I think there may be a relation between that decision and Buell's death. Doesn't look good on Harley that they couldn't build their own performance twin. They sure don't have any other in their lineup... do they?
Well, my understanding is that Harley's V-Rod is Harley's first water-cooled engine, and that it was designed (or co-designed, depending on the media source) by Porsche. The 2009 V-Rod engine is a 1250cc engine that produces 122 horsepower and 85 ft-lbs of torque.
My guess is that Buell's death is a reflection of the somber financial times, which was initiated or caused by the banking/finance sectors (they were given a massive government bailout during the Bush administration). Then, the manufacturing sector starts feeling the pinch (GM, Chrysler, Buell).
great song, great bike

People who want something different. They know it's not the best bike, but they would rather be different than ride a good bike that everybody has.
That's just what I think.
