If you've been lazy throughout your life when it came to working out, how long would it take to get the hang of the training? Exercising isn't so bad for me, but I've always hated running. I always feel like I'm going to fall if I run too fast. But I've wanted to join since I was a preteen and I'm going to be taking the first step after the holidays.
the only tip u need is to stay motivated. sound off and dont quit. and we had to learn the army song so learn that too. and get used to hearing front leaning rest position move. learn to drop fast. it shows motivation.
One thing that needs to change at BCT: Females and males need to be separated more. To much drama going on, simply because they live in the same barracks, sneaking to the male bay, and vise versa. I know there are logistical reasons for living in the same building, but there needs to be closer eye on these things. I went to Ft Jackson and the presence of flirty females on or bay was both annoying and unprofessional. Males too.
Ive been in the DEP for about 2 months now. Getting smoked is when your instructor is pissed, and takes his anger out by making you work until your near passing out. Basically, you get run into the ground, and do enough calisthenics to make you sore for days. Also lectures while in the leaning rest. At least in the DEP, a smoking session usually lasts the entire 2 or so hours.
@frankfontainepx1 in terms of Physical Fitness, when the Drill Instructor smokes you, it means that they will PT (Physical Train) you until you fuckin die. I know this from experience since I am involved as of now in a ROTC program at school
@REDSCOUT3 I heard ROTC PT is a cakewalk compared to Basic. I will do SMP after Basic. I have no idea what to expect when I go to basic next year though lol.
Lol, during my stay at Basic this year, some ROTC Cadets came, and there was a chunky cadet who couldent do 4 for the core completely or some other exercises.
@REDSCOUT3 Jesus man, how many times will I run across your type... First of all, being in ROTC does not mean you know everything, especially not everything about the enlisted soldiers. I am in ROTC-Smp right now so do I know what I'm talking about; I also get to deal with your kind all the time. So think before you state anything from "experience." This is nothing too personal, I'm just tired of cadets believing that they're such a huge part of the army; soon you will be, not right now.
@sabers011 I had a huge argument with a cadet that was telling me that the National Guard has no Special Forces... but he knows it all, because he has a cadet rank on.... haha not
Don't stress about basic training. It sucks being away from home for so long and having so much control over you. But as far as what's expected of you, just embrace the suck and do as you're told. And as far as physical, I weighed 240 pounds when I first got there. They get the weight off of you of course, but it is not hard. I went to fort Leonard wood. The weather is worse than the training itself. LOLzz
@PNUTSHUFFLEZ323 you still die the same with a bullet in your brain. the amount of weeks mean nothing its what you take from it and put into your life. regardless of what branch you choose we will be and are soldiers of the same country. what ever your branch, much love and luck in your future plans.
@PNUTSHUFFLEZ323 yeah you get an extra 4 weeks so they can brainwash you to have an ego and think your steven segal with that tan belt when you come out of mct
@Metalasanything This video is basic training for enlisted. Officer training depends on what why you want to go about it. You can go through the Academy or ROTC which will be 4 years, they do have some programs in ROTC where you can get done in 2 years. I believe OCS is 17 weeks long and is a crash course of ROTC...
@PNUTSHUFFLEZ323 Why are you watching Army videos if you're just gonna bash the Army? The Marines get a LOT of their training from the Army (airborne, ranger, pathfinder..etc) so by making fun of the Army's training you are also making fun of a lot of training that Marines receive. And Basic training is only a very small portion of a military members training. Most experience comes from training after Basic, and specialty schools, which the Army has more of.
thank you staff sgt brito for the video. i leave in four days for basic and the tip of sleeping to that schedule probably gunna help me the most. thanks again.
@crumblezzz I don't tolerate negative comments about any branches of the military. Grow up and enlist in some branch and get some kind of real world experience before posting mindless comments. Guess what?Your'e out of here and blocked! See ya.
I just found out their is a military biker club that's called the Blackhorse Riders, all members have to be Blackhorse Veterans. Not my organic unit, I just returned from a deployment with them to Kosovo.

How long is officer training in the US? For the Australian Defence Force, it is usually 18 months.
