Damn, I didn't even know Gibson made a Sykes signature model. As usual, I find out about it once they're discontinued (happened to me with the original Fender Dave Murray model). I had an 80's model Explorer that dirty finger p/u's and the tone was incredible. I heard the reissue dirty fingers aren't as good, but the ones on your guitar sound pretty good to me.

I think the Sykes comes with Dirty Fingers pickups. Which I think are the most under-rated pickups around, especially the originals. If you play hard rock/classic rock, the Dirtyi Fingers were specifically designed for that.  I have an original set in my '83 Gibson Flying V. A total rock n roll machine.

Damn, that LP has some BITE(dat's a good thang)! Hope you're still enjoying that beautiful instrument....BTW, what pickups does that thing have? I'm considering swapping out the BurstBuckerts in my new trans. Blood-red flametop LP for a JB in the bridge and a 59 in the neck.....but those in yours sound a hell of a lot hotter.

Sykes is one of my top fave guitarists. love his great riffing & solo on Whitesnake Love Ain't No Stranger. What killer tone. He added so much to that band. When Vai joined the songs got more complex & technical but the guitar sound thinned out. the chunky LP riffs & hooks (John Sykes signature) were missing

I agree to a certain extent with what you say but I don`t thik it was vai`s soun that made it sound thin I think it was the mix . If you listen to th recod through earphone`s you can pick up Vai`s sound more and it really was huge but got a bit lost in the mix . The Syke`s sound was still better though .

Hey man, nice demo! Just curious why you chose the "Aged" model instead of the "VOS"? Especially since it costs $3,000 dollars more!(at least in the U.S.) I would think the price difference would be similar in Germany. I own a VOS and LOVE it!! I have been playing since about 1981 & I can say without a doubt these guitars can hold their own with any, bar NONE. My style is molded around one of your fellow countryman - Michael Schenker. It's a shame Gibson never made a signature model after him.
