@MissStacielynn Yes, I freeze casseroles quite often. Just add a little water when you put the frozen casserole in a pot and stir occasionally until heated through.
ive had an idea!you could (though it would be more fatty:S) make little patty things, with breadcrumbs and egg and fry them (or maybe even oven bake them) like cakes:D!!
Hi Betty! I so appreciate your recipes as do my toddler and husband! Quick question: If I were to substitute bacon in the recipe, how much would you suggest I use?
@poopie1007 Hi! Thanks for your nice comment! If you use bacon in place of the ham, fry about 4 to 6 slices until crisp. Then, break them into pieces and put them in the mixture. It is a great substitution!
It appears that Hormel no longer makes their Tender Chunk ham. It's not available in any stores that carry other Hormel products, nor is it listed on their website. I was really looking forward to the white bean soup....
I am still able to buy it, but it's now in a can called "smoked ham." It's the same thing. Hormel also has refrigerated vacuum-packed ham chunks that will work! Thanks for bringing this up!
Ive never seen that canned Tender Chunks Ham. It may just be a southern thing. I think if I made this though I would use the King of meats...Bacon! Thanks again Betty.
I definitely do! I was trying to keep it tame in order for it to appeal to all viewers, but if you want to make it more flavorful, green chiles would be perfect! (I think I would omit the green onion if I added the green chiles.)
Hey Betty what a yummy looking recipe! Love the new haircut oo! Was wandering why you use the backburners on your stove??? I always use the front ones.
Thanks--on both accounts. Actually, I use the back burners, because the igniter keeps clicking on the front ones! I know--I need to clean it--it's probably clogged with some cleaner like comet! Isn't that a crazy reason!
I haven't forgotten that you requested salsa. I have a version that I have used for my family, but I wanted something special for you. My daughter's brother-in-law has been a chef in a restaurant in Texas (where they serve all types of Mexican food) for years. I got a salsa recipe from him. I have made it once, and it was great! I just haven't gotten it made on camera yet. I will try to get to that soon. I'm sorry for taking so long! You are such a faithful viewer!
I *finally* got your salsa recipe uploaded. I got the recipe from a chef who is an expert in Tex-Mex food, and I have tested it twice. It's superb! I know you'll love it!!! Thanks for the request!
Hi Betty, Can this dish be frozen and then reheated later?

And if I added the mashed potatoes on top of some macaroni and cheese, will they bake well? Thanks for answering my questions ^^
Emux33 1 year ago
@Emux33 Yes, it will do fine. That is an interesting way to serve macaroni and cheese!

Can I boil some potatoes and mash them up to get mashed potatoes instead of using instant ones? Do I need to add in the 2 cups boiling water too?

Bacon would be great! Or, if you really wanted ham, you could take a thick slice of ham and cut it into cubes. Thanks for commenting!

Hi Betty,
Do you think a can of green chilies could be used in this dish? Thanks!
