I have a question. I'm a natural curly hair African American too, but my curls are tight and get matted when my hair is dry. I get the leave weave out and keep heat out of it over the summer because first my mom doesn't allow weave, and two i like to swim. So my question is do you think braiding it is a good idea; also since my hair stays shoulder length braiding causes it to shrink so do you know of any braided hair styles?? Also where do you get the Bioton?

There are Africans with biracial hair who aren't mixed, latino or people of spanish descent who have afro textured hair and so forth. I just learnt about that this year. We usually just perm our hair so there has never been a need to heat straighten thus no need for a protectant and the old school way to straighten afro hair didn't include a heat protectant any way. Curl wax was used. Healthy afro hair is a new thing believe it or not :).

There are Africans with biracial hair who aren't mixed, latino or people of spanish descent who have afro textured hair and so forth. My point is the question of "are you mixed" is just ignorant to ask someone just because they have textured hair that is different than the norm.
