  • Canadian eh!

  • By the way, which Gas Stove are you using

  • I got this yesterday as an xmas present. The instructions clearly state 2 things that you don't follow here so im hoping you can clarify: (1) Leave 2 cm of water in bottom pot. You seem to drain it nearly completely. (2) never put the pot on a cold or wet surface after boiling.

Im looking for a clean bold cup of coffee and im on pot #8 today and cannot get it with this maker. All i get are very tasteless watery pots of coffee :(

  • @nootron Hi, in order for the vacuum to work you must remove the heat source. I did not put it on a cold surface, I just removed it from the heat source. I also find that the best technique is to let all of the water to go up into the top globe and in this video I actually thought I removed the heat source too quickly since the draining to the bottom globe was slower than it should be. If you coffee is watery and tasteless I would suggest adding more coffee. ..

  • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada Thanks for the tips. I am going to add more coffee. Currently we are using a fine grind instead of a coarse. Does a coarse grind lead to a richer coffee brew? Or is a coarse grind only suggested to avoid possibly clogging the draining of the top pot?

  • @nootron As far as letting all the water go up into the top globe, this just isn't possible. The glass stem only goes to about 1/4 inch above the bottom of the bottom pitcher so even if you let it boil for 10 minutes, there is always going to be 1/4 inch of water left in the bottom pitcher.

  • @nootron The Bodum Santos is a 1 litre pot, so I suggest using at least 40-50 grams of coffee. The coffee should be a medium grind or a little coarser. Let the water come close to boiling, the top globe when infused should start bubbling a little bit, that is when you should remove it and the coffee should be sucked down fairly quickly. If you are having trouble, give us a call and I will try to walk you through it.

  • You go to all that trouble to put it in a styrofoam cup! LOL And what does 'fairly clean' cup of coffee mean? Semi-sooty? I would redo this a couple more times to lose the stutter as well. Otherwise, nice work. : )

  • @VideosbyElle The styrofoam cup is really haunting me; in every other video I use bodum glassware; I won't make that mistake again. Fairly Clean means that it is cleaner than a french press but not quite as clean as filtered. There may be some sediment in the cup.

  • Great process and vid but he really could've used real china coffee cups!

  • this looks kinda danger @@

  • what size was the coffee beans grinded? what setting was the machine set to.. my reviews on amazon.com say its the grind size that matters the most..

  • «And then we can surf» - allright, surf that caffeine, dude :)

  • Mmmm....BOOOOOOOMMMM????

  • is that a primus omnifuel?

  • @scarekrow9 Yes it is, good eye.

  • Comment removed

  • will this work on an electric stove?

  • @IMKINDOFABIGDEAL13 yes, however, I would only use it on a ceramic or glass top electric stove. If you have coils it would be best to put something in between like a wire grid to prevent fracture.

  • have anyone els tried the kopi luwak coffee in this one?.. didn't think it was to great with that type of coffee...

  • @sondreborseth thats because kopi luwak is, well, shitty coffee :p

  • mine broke right after i opened the box. the end tip of the glas cylinder that sucks the water up....

  • @sondreborseth If it was purchased from us please give us a call and we can see if we can work something out for you.

  • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada

ah no worries .. it wasent from this shop

  • It's one of the most awesome ways to make coffee but the entire design is like an accident waiting to happen. ^^

  • bit of a shame you're using a plastic cup after all that effort

  • I ordered the Bodum Santos Vacuum Coffee Maker from idrinkcoffeedotcom. The upper camber was broken. I phoned them and they shipped a replacement within 24 hrs. No hassle. idrinkcoffeedotcom is the real deal for your coffee needs.

  • Thankyou so much Slawek. I have just bought myself a Bodum Santos Vacuum Coffee Pot, so I too can have a flavourable cup of coffee.

  • I received one of these coffee makers as a Christmas gift. I find that it makes one of the best tasting pots of coffee I've tried, including french presses. It's smooth and very full flavor with a small amount of very fine unobnoxious sediment. the clean up is easy and quick, just a quick run through the sink with soap and water and it's done.Well worth the very small extra effort

  • This demonstration was done in our store and I just used a demo cup becuase it was at hand, under normal conditions I would have use a matching Bodum double wall glass or ceramic cup.

The ratio of coffee to water is up to the individual, if you prefer a stronger taste you can use more coffee. I just used the fairly standard ratio of 10 grams to 250 ml.

  • Styrofoam cup? Yuk, use a real cup.

Do styrofoam drinking cups leach Styrofoam into the heated liquids they contain?

Just a simple glass or ceramic cup would be best.

  • Why so extremley little coffee to water ration ?

Nobody in my family has complained about my ration of 17g per 250ml of water or almost 7g per every 100ml.

  • such a fince coffee and than: plastic cups - nogo

  • That's true, although like many things in life it is worth the extra effort. The result is an exceptional cup.

  • Fascinating way to brew coffee. But, it leaves you with two pots to clean, instead of just one.
