I love how when Giguère accepts the Con Smythe he doesn't raise it, he holds it as if its too heavy for him to bear, as if its weighing him down. He's accepting an award yes, but not victory. That image juxtaposes perfectly with the devils raising the Stanley Cup above their heads afterwards. I love the raw emotion tied with this sport.

I loved the 2003 playoffs; the return of marque Canadian teams in the playoffs, great goal-tending, major upsets, 7 game series, and Pat Burns winning the cup.
This was obviously the most amazing year in the NHL...in the east Two of the best teams NJ and Ottawa dominated and when they met in the ECF it was probably one of the best series Id ever seen in my life..not to mention on the west, Anaheim sweeping the champs, beating the first seeded team in one of the most craziest/unpredictable runs in history, and let us not forget minnesota in their first ever Playoffs apperance making it to the WCF. Idk what but we need hockey like this again pronto!!!

@max432156 Sorry for the late response. I do agree with you on the safety of the players, however it's not exactly perfect. I'm sure you know what I mean with the current events. The game has lasted for quite a while, and these freak accidents and such are part of the game, that's just how I see it. The edge jerseys are improving with thirds, but to me the edge jerseys ruined some jerseys big time, with the odd side piping on the flames to the (post) sabres. It's obviously different now!
@korytyler21 I would say the identity of the game really. I think NHL sweaters kill all othersports. There were good and bad sweaters from RBK, however I miss the older jerseys. A good example is the Sabres when they first showed off the modern logo and the piping is just downright wrong. Ducks got screwed out of a unique color scheme, Dallas shot themselves in the foot (and still are), Avalanche side piping was great, and so forth. There are good jerseys from the switch, so it's a balance.

MeAsin the playoffs may have been good but the finals were the MOST BORING FINALS ever. the only interesting thing was the bizarre goal that bounced off Brodeur's stick and went in. Just too much clutching and grabbing. That and 1998 were boring finals.
As I Wild fan these playoff series were awesome. The two wins against the Avs and the Cunucks were great. Then Anaheim had to end our run. At least the Devils won the cup in the end. All in all, the 2003 playoffs were a great time.
Great video, this was a great playoff, so many upsets. Ducks/Devils was a great battle the Ducks were such an underdog too bad they choked in game 7. I'll never forget those sick saves by Jiggy or how Kariya got up and scored after that hit.
this was my first stanley cup as a real hockey fan. i was around 10 at the time. it showed me that hockey is different from most sports, and it has so much more meaning than other sports too. really hard to explain i guess d: but hockey is a beautiful game.

In my book this playoff was the most boring I've ever seen...the trap was taking over and every game was way too long, like 3, 4 boring overtimes. I give Babs and the Ducks credit for their Cinderella run but if it wasn't for Giguere they'd lost to Detroit in the first round...thank God they redesigned the game and this brutal, unexciting defensive style hockey is GONE!

Great underrated series in the East Finals. The Sens were the best team that year, the best offense too. That years Devils team was a very good 2 seed. 108 points, bes defense. Devils took Ottawa down in a great game 7 of a great series. One chapter of a great overall playoffs.
the devils did not take a game in anaheim en route to the cup. the ducks woulda took a hell of a lot of pride in that. all through their improbable run i was like how are they doing it? knock out the top 2 seeds in the conference and then cruise to the campbell trophy against a minnesota team that chose not to skate in that series.

I've been watching the NHL since 1994 and this playoffs was easily the best:
-7th seed Ducks went to game 7 of the Finals
-Wild won 2 series while trailing 3-1
-Flyers/Leafs was a physical series
-Devils upset the Sens in the ECF

stevens was a hall of famer probably one of the most feared checkers and stingy defensive defenceman to ever play the game. he played in over 1600 games and recorded over 900 points. So dont speak about things you know nothing about.

no new jersey was terrible they weren't as good as the ducks. Brodeur and friesen are the only reason they made it that far. The sens should have made it. The ducks would had beat them

oh come on, the ducks were an average team that rode a hot goalie all the way to the finals. i agree that the devils didn't play as well as they could have, but the Friesen/Niewendyk/Langenbrunner line was incredible, they had two Hall of Fame defensemen, and Brodeur was just as good as Giguere.

MeAsin the playoffs may have been good but the finals were the MOST BORING FINALS ever. the only interesting thing was the bizarre goal that bounced off Brodeur's stick and went in. Just too much clutching and grabbing. That and 1998 were boring finals.

As I Wild fan these playoff series were awesome. The two wins against the Avs and the Cunucks were great. Then Anaheim had to end our run. At least the Devils won the cup in the end. All in all, the 2003 playoffs were a great time.

Great video, this was a great playoff, so many upsets. Ducks/Devils was a great battle the Ducks were such an underdog too bad they choked in game 7. I'll never forget those sick saves by Jiggy or how Kariya got up and scored after that hit.

this was my first stanley cup as a real hockey fan. i was around 10 at the time. it showed me that hockey is different from most sports, and it has so much more meaning than other sports too. really hard to explain i guess d: but hockey is a beautiful game.
poor giggy played his heart out, i felt so bad for the guy. but he got to hoist the cup later on, so it's all good now. lol.

1. rangers are 6 points ahead of the devils, and 4 more games played. and there's a lot of games left. in the devils 49 games left in the seaons, im sure they'll will win 4 games and lose 4 games. until/if you pass us in points it doesnt mean much. you cant go by gp, unless we had more gp and less points, then that's a different story. but that's not the case.
2. and no, even if the devils win tomorrow, they need to win about 15 more games against before you can talk.

In my book this playoff was the most boring I've ever seen...the trap was taking over and every game was way too long, like 3, 4 boring overtimes. I give Babs and the Ducks credit for their Cinderella run but if it wasn't for Giguere they'd lost to Detroit in the first round...thank God they redesigned the game and this brutal, unexciting defensive style hockey is GONE!

Some of us fans booed because we believed Brodeur deserved the CS for his 3 finals shutouts, but thats history, Giguere did have an incredible run but Brodeur got the real trophy that season. Thats all that matters.

Great underrated series in the East Finals. The Sens were the best team that year, the best offense too. That years Devils team was a very good 2 seed. 108 points, bes defense. Devils took Ottawa down in a great game 7 of a great series. One chapter of a great overall playoffs.

the devils did not take a game in anaheim en route to the cup. the ducks woulda took a hell of a lot of pride in that. all through their improbable run i was like how are they doing it? knock out the top 2 seeds in the conference and then cruise to the campbell trophy against a minnesota team that chose not to skate in that series.
