  • On the Terminator theme...Can anyone help me find a tune I'm looking for please? Unfortunately I don't know the name of the artist or the track. It has a sample from the first terminator movie at the start which goes something like...'Whats the date?... May 12th, thursday....What year?' and then it kicks into some quite fast old school jungle. I taped it off an old pirate rave station i used to be able to pick up about 18 years ago. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • omg!! brings back soo many memories.. thanx. :)

  • Metalheadz was the commercial name for RuffigeKru

  • Luke Vibert was playing this tune when performing a show with Aphex Twin live in Barcelona on 11/12/2010. Great show. When I heard this went fucking nuts.

  • @Kirmm That's fucking interesting. Thanks for letting me know.

  • heard 1:40 and immediately thought of the prodigy

  • this is like prodigy...... OLD SCHOOL

  • Anyone know of a dubstep remix of this? I was at a party one night and heard it. same vocal samples too, but I can't find it for the life of me.

  • @Atetrakz There's a Stagga remix lurking around somewhere, maybe its that

  • Stunning work Clifford, one of the very greatest hardcore tunes ever created.

  • took me quite a while to figure that the metalhedz label was probably named after this track... anyone confirm that?

  • @mistergeneration

mmm...i remember reading somewhere that "Metalheadz" was named after:

    a- the brand new and test press acetates Grooverider and Goldie were fond of;

b- one of Rider´s early aliases, as confirmed by himself...

  • @MarkusAudio

Thanx dude,.. maybe the connection to metalheadz and terminator just a coincidence...., or maybe a subconcious influence,.LOL

  • @mistergeneration

LOL no prob man, but there´s no coincidence at all, cause indeed when terminator came out was on the "Metalheads" moniker :-))

  • @mistergeneration I assumed it had something to do with the fact that goldie has a mouth full of metal. Or is that too simplistic?

  • Never tried E and was a baby back in the day of 92', but this track still makes me lose my motherfucking mind!!!

  • @Atetrakz

me neither on E, but i can have that nerve jangling feel listening to it :-))

  • Serious tingz bredda!! There u go!! This is when jungle was jungle mate... Whey Hey!!!!!!

  • fuck 5 hour energy shots i listen to this ^-^

  • Those were the days. I went from break dancing in the early 80's to new wave to goth then I found acid house, house , techno and this early drum and bass shit rocks

  • ye ye ye!!!

    rufige crew!!!

    goldie the god!

    TERMINATOR IS OUUUUUUUUUUUUT THERE!

  • This track is pure vintage underground. I remember it so clearly.

  • Basically, Terminator was the first.

It influenced everything that came after it. With this track Rob Playford and Goldie defined the basic elements of drum & bass: break beats, sub bass, delayed stabs and moody sampled voices. The James Brown drums had been used many times before, and the 'dominator noise' too, but never stretched like that. None of the elements were entirely new, but the complete package was quite shocking... very dark, very 'tech' sounding, but also with a reggae sway.

  • @lukescheybeler do you know which James Brown song the drums are from? Thanks!!!

  • @lukescheybeler nah m8 terminater was not the 1st there was actually quite alot of tunezz before it, look into jaguar skills dnb n see a load more tunez before it :P

  • TUNE!!!! I was about 10 when this came out still love it tho!

  • do you know of another track which has a male vocal sample which says 'burning bright '. ratty and randall used to cane it.

  • @makkyization sounds like ray keiths'you got me burning up'type that in see what happens hope its right mate

  • cant believe it Deep space by crystyl nice one its the business.

  • We're talking about things we haven't even done yet...

  • @makkyization

i reckon that tune would be jmj and richies "hall of mirrors", ??

  • thanks markus its not that one but ive come accross some real tunes there cheers.

  • real tune by the rufige kru. does anyone know a proper darkside tune that used to be played at awol and the edge that has one vocal (female) that says 'you are now ready for take off"?

  • Its a track 'Flight IC 408'

  • Its by the band called 'State of Bengal'

  • thanks mate but i found it its Hyper on Experience Disturbance (Tango remix).

  • @makkyization Chopper - Ray keith :-)

  • Ace!

  • Sick tune....Sterns 1993. Lengendary nights, that will stay with me forever. God bless you for posting his track!

  • problem I have with modern day tunes is the basslines....i mean they aint as heavy as the old skool tunes.

  • You can't beat a decent bassline, and the oldskool tunes were all about bass once upon a time.

  • Technoir?

  • i remember bending my boy friend over the balcony at dreamscape and doing up the ass to this bad tune

  • bet that was nice..........NOT

  • Why the hell would we even want to know that?

  • sorry thought people would be interested? you should try it its really great!..

  • Amazing tune, the best hardcore and metalheadz tune ever.

  • darker than shunsheng and dark knight together!!!

  • Seminal & Pioneering. I was i Cllub Labrynth at the time when this and others alike saw the first wave of 'jungle' birth out of happy hardcore. I am so blessed and I do know It!!! Love X

  • that intro's the fucking spine chiller ' ratty mixed this like no other ' grooverider and topbuzz was awsome aswell

  • Sadly for me, I was born in '93; but I still enjoy the various styles of dnb, (mostly the 90s stuff) :]

  • This tune still kicks.......awesome

  • fukin classic i av 2 say

  • who knows the title of a rufige cru track from around 93 that had the sample "see my baby tonight, alright i'll see you tonight. He just forgot who started the fight, a sacrifice" ?? been after it from soon after 93!

  • "Menace" off the Darkrider EP.

  • Riiiinse out.

All time classic. Love that intro, lulls you into a false sense of security then beats on your ass like you're a rented mule.

  • those hi hats, when they first come in at 0:06

    they're perfect.

  • EPIC.

  • Immense

  • Still love this, like 15 years later

  • Even I, who started listening to drum and bass music 13 years later, because I was born in the year of Goldie biggest produces (1993 etc), and started turning the tables 15 years later, still listens to this music... It's simply Timeless, it's just that good!

  • classic those were the dayz

  • THIS IS THE SHIT! Many a good times have been had with this.

  • Famous track in technology terms too - probably the first 'big selling' old tune to use time stretching. The new wave of Akai samplers changed everything!

  • goldie actually used a harmonizer for this one

  • KICKBOXIN TO "TERMINAOR"?!?! Had to see that!!

  • Still sounds fucking amazing all this time later, Goldie youre a fucking genius mate!!!!

  • Ragin! My fave ever tune from the origi-dige days of the REAL raves. Can't even remember which clubs or events I even heard this at I was always so spangled on China Whites, but jeeeeez - well posted MarkusAudio. I had this on an old tape that I 'mixed' from all my old rave tapes - affectionately called 'The Mental Tezza Training Tape' that we used to train to at kickboxing; which was that hard it made people physically sick haha, then lost the b*stard when I moved to Oz. Awesome. Truly awesome.

  • Still one of the best tunes.....this is what turned me onto the darkside!!!

  • Lazerdrome !! man that place was rough... got closed down after one of the bouncers was murdered !!

the terminator really was out there that night !!!!

  • Lazerdrome was a very dark loud venue..

  • I remember this one down at the The lazerdrome in Peckham. Dark venue , dark tune.

  • you know that..innerscene at the lazerdrome was the bollox

  • Glad to see that at least two of us survived that place !

  • love them .....

  • fuck me tune!

  • amazing. thanks for uploading.

  • MAAAAN!!! THIS ONE STILL ON TOP OF MY MOST VIEWED!!! THANXALOTT FRIENDS....and pleeze do me a favour- ASK GOLDIE TO DO IT AGAAAAAIN, for a good career-closing sake!!!

  • such a fukin big tune!!! 100% quality upload m8! x

  • I dropped this as my opening tune at a Drum & Bass Arena night at Ministry Of Sound 2006. The baby box.

  • Goldie at his best!! jus thinkin then!! I wonder if u told goldie he would be an actor in a James Bond film, work with Guy Ritchie in snatch in yrs to come. I wonder wot he would of said or more to the point done!!

nuff respeckts to a true pioneer..Rufige!!!

  • if ya like da phuture, ul love da criminal minds baptised by dub nother classic, youl know when ya hear it!!!!! ps didnt realise rapt had already pointed ya in the right direction!!

  • fking great chewn!! need to get somefing off me chest, its been buggin me, dis is not DnB, its nofing like it!! it breakcore, dnb wasnt around in 92!!!!! it sparked darkcore which took hold in 93, long live JUNGLE!!!!!!!!!

  • breakcore???????? w.t.f? When this tune came out there wasn't Jungle (from which Drum & Bass evolved) this is just HARDCORE (which came after House & Acid House in the UK)! Before the Rave scene got split muscially, it was all JUST Hardcore - and from then onwards there was Jungle, 4Beat (Happy Hardcore) and Gabba/Techno - that's it, end of!! All the other genre's and sub-genre's that followed are all filterd down and altered versions of the original music style/s and the orignal scene!!

  • hardcore was really prominent in 90-91, wif chewns like manic, 6 bells all, newton and uhf. in 92 hardcore started to change it became more of an umbrella heading. the terminator track was breakbeat hardcore. there was jungle back then it was known as jungle techno but still operated under the hardcore banner. heres a link for terminator on discogs just to clear things up! hope u enjoy the great music on youtube!! takes me back!!!

  • i agree with you completetly!! comparing the to sounds they do sound different but you can tell one mutatedd from the other

  • yeah i did write my first comment a bit passionately, but u can definetly hear the mutated sound. thx for the comment amit!!

  • yeah oliverozzo it was PHUTURE ASSASSINS ROOTS N FUTURE i think dats the chewn ya after!!

  • haid this D, was luving it. Sound that came in on 3.14... I alweys shiting my pants when hering that

  • fucking great tune.

  • KAAAAABOOOOOOOMRATATATATAPENG

  • OMG thanks for posting this, this song is remixed in an old tape I have... omg!

  • I think so....sounds distinctly like 'Roots n' future' by Phuture Assassins aka Krome & Time :D...was probably a promo late 92 and had a 'full' release in early 93 (wikid vibe too)...I'd imagine it's on here somewhere (?)...good luck :)

  • The pinnacle! Makes a mental ring tone ;)

Your talking about things that haven't been done yet - omg - genius@work

  • i wish i was old enuf to rave to old school dnb bk in the 90's! I envy any1 that raved in the 90's

  • danny, one of the luckiest ones!!

  • this is still my all time number 1 tune.

  • I always used to call this liquid gold track, listen 2mins 25 in and you see why.

That is if you ever sniffed the shit lol

  • best versoin

  • Lovely. I bought this on 12-inch when it came out - 99p.

  • if love d and b this is the 1st tune you should play to anyone who has not heard this king of thang b4 if there interested

  • I remember when this came out, i thought WTF is this? Sounded so different to anything else around at the time... awesome..

  • One of the true classics my good man. 92 - 95 the amazing tunes that were crafted then will stay with me for life and will often out rank many new tunes. Such an insane time. Happy memories! Great post mate :)

  • This track will never ever get old. I'm a hardcore metalheadz fan since Platinum Breakz came out. The creative explosion focused on a period of 3-4 years is incredible...

  • yeh, this is why i never stop loving The Golden One, he can be minimalisticaly mesmerizing (check "High Rollerz"), or geniously sample-crazy pitch-change push the limits (most of his 1992-on worx)...

  • the funkydrummer breakbeat that goes up and up around the middle of the tune, that was done on an akai s950. goldie was the first to do it like this.

  • That was what so good about early dnb - nobody gave a shit about the rules. The pioneers were pushing the technology to the limits, and most of the good effects (e.g. time-stretching) came about because the machines couldn't cope with the ideas. These days everyone's got a sampler on their PC and the music's shit. Go figure...

  • Dude, you totally read my mind! Those have been me EXACT thoughts about jungle back then compared with the dire garbage that is coming out now! :)

  • to be honest it is aimed at completely different type of people thats why its so different, you could not go nuts to jungle the way you can to a dirty hazard jump up track, the kind of melodies etc also that were not accessible back then also, the problem is noone is actually trying to relive any of it any more!!! long live JUNGLE

  • I was born in 1990 and have been an avid fan of (real ) hip-hop. Somehow, I stumbled into the world of (real) dnb and jungle about 2 years ago. All this is a new sound to me and I heard some "modern" dnb...sucks compared to this. I can see what you guys fell in love with

  • The new dnb's so slick, it leaves me cold. What made the old stuff so special, though, was that it was almost impossible to get hold of -- I used to get mixtapes from Bukem, etc. from Camden Market for £5. Still got them -- shall I upload some? I've also got a few tapes that I recorded off pirate stations in London c. 1994-5. No torrents or iTunes in those days, you had to earn it!

  • If you could, I would appreciate it greatly! I'm from the U.S. and theres almost nothing out here, all I managed to get was a rhythm section vinyl. Yeah, its much easier now, no argument there.

  • @R0SECR0IX yes upload if you haven't already

  • @piriz1 Ahh Real Hip Hop? Do you like Taskforce, Dr Syntax, Contact Play and all that?

  • @mesie2006 Nah dude, he means REAL Hip-Hop. Like blondie! Original Gangster! Only the Hardcore spin Rapture!

  • the fuckin realness bitches!!

  • fuck yeah son!

  • Oi people, so glad you in tune with me towards dis one, and the B Side "Knowledge" has the same flava, though darker bizness, watcha!!!! HARDKORE WILL NEVER FUCKING DIE!!!!

  • this track is my first contact with DNB that was in 99. We're not really exposed to DNB in the states yet so I was way behind! I've been hooked ever since...New skool DNB just dose not have the same groove or flavor

  • this is some classic goldie

  • Sick tune.

  • Thanks I Love this version

more than I Love meself up!

Old School Rave all The way!!

  • one of the first to use the time stretch.. what a tune!!

  • One of the greatest!!
