  • hey i'm using sony w8 can i unroot like this?

  • @666media follow this blog for Sony W8 root and unroot

    myw8.blogspot.com

  • it just says "Waiting for device..." And "The program is not responding" at the top of the program, why?

  • @Ubbiii plz read the Instructions for "Waiting for Device" error

  • @bonnsn08 I fixed it :)

But, now, what does "root" means, what does it do?

I just rooted it and thought that i could get free apps, like jailbreak.

  • @Ubbiii "Rooting is a process that allows users of cellphones and other devices running the Android operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's Linux subsystem, overcoming limitations that the carriers and manufacturers put on such phones."

In my case i liked to use my device as wifihotspot, so that i could connect my laptop or ipod to the mobile 3G network(WIFI Tethering to connect to the internet)

  • @Ubbiii Other reasons for rooting include Overclocking the processor(increase Hardware performance) or installing a custom theme/apps, Installing apps to SD card, and many more

So Rooting is done to overcome the limitations that the carriers and manufacturers put on such phones.

Warning : If anything goes wrong you cant avail warranty.

  • @bonnsn08

    Thanks for you´r response!

I´ve tried looking up what might be the fault and everywhere I look it seems it comes down to the X10 minis latest update.

It seems no one really had an easy time rooting it.

I´ll check out the ragemethod buddy and let you know.

Allmost bricked it last night with z4...:/

  • @stinsens Well, plz let me know the version of your Xperia mini so that i could update my description.

  • @bonnsn08

It seems my "auto update" has been turned off somewhere along the way, sorry about my late reply.

I fixed it with Shivenjuneja´s modified "Superoneclick" over at XDA forums.

    It´s 2.1.1.A.06 I have.

It worked like a charm and very easy to.

Thanks for you´r effort and help!

  • @MrJamesEngland Well...thatz great..:-)

  • hey, great tutorial mate. just one thing though.. ive been trying to root my phone for hours trying different ways. when i tried this one this came up..

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application witll ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

The system cannot find the file specified."

    any ideas..? =/

  • Ok, WTF's the encryption Password for the Download?? huh?

  • @FlyKingRy I dont like your language buddy,Thats not fair to ask like that.

I had uploaded what i got,i never mind with the encryption.

(just to make sure that people are at the right link)

Password is available in the description

    its bonnsn_08

  • @bonnsn08 well sorry man, thanks.

  • I dont get it, you rooted it and then unrooted it? :S do we have to do the same? or do we just leave it when we've rooted it?

    reply asap plz.

  • @1964rs1964 I had shown how to "root" and "Unroot" a device.

Yes you can leave the device once its been rooted

but the question is,What's your purpose????

My purpose for rooting is to take full advantage of the phone

    like using as"wifihotspot"

If you dosen't have anything to do with your mobile in root mode - unroot it.

  • @bonnsn08

okay, i want to install games to my memory card ( NOT the default phone memory )

and how do you use it as a wif hot spot' ? can u mail me it or something on how to do that or what app to get 4 it??

if i DIDNT hav any purpose to root it then wud ther be any danger in leaving it root or anything like that??

thanks 4 the quick reply, subbed for that :)

  • @1964rs1964 **There isnt any danger but leave ur phone in unroot mode to be on safe side,

and while updating to any future version ensure that it is unroot Condition (Orginal condition).

  • @1964rs1964 *For memory card install you can use App2SD( I never tried it )follow the link in the description

n try at your own risk.

  • @1964rs1964 *For using as wifihotspot first root your mobile ensure that "superuser" is installed. Then check whether busybox is available in superuser or else download from superuser app itself.

then download Barnacle Wifi Tether from app store or other website and install it.

Its a one click access n turn ur phone to wifihotspot

(I had used it and it works fine and i had connected up to 4 devices in parallel )

Now i am using Xperia arc or else i could have posted another video on mini pro

  • @bonnsn08 hmm okay and what is wifihotspot? i'm confused on it a bit :/

  • working very good thanks

  • And do you got the Firware version: 2.1-update1 and the Build number: 2.1.1.A.0.6 ?

  • Hey, i did just like you did.

It works to root, "root succesful" etc

but at the end of the root, in the window, it says "running a SU test"

and when i start superuser it says "SU is up to date" or somthing like that,

    what should i do?

  • @AddisssH You don't need to do any thing .And i don't know what SU File/Code does, maybe it is the main file required for Jailbreak or to root your device.Make sure that "superuser" is installed in your device. I did this to turn my mobile into a "wifi hotspot".You can use "Barnacle Wifi Tether" it works fine and i am using this to connects my ipod and laptop.

  • @bonnsn08

Hmm.. i got barnacle and superuser installed.

But when i open superuser it says it needs to be updated, and then i go to settings and update and then it says something like this "A zip file has been placed on your SD card, please reboot into recovery mode and flash it to update your su binary"

  • @AddisssH Thats weird, i never came across any thing like that.

and as i said i don't want to mess with superuser.

try using barnacle if it works then your device is in root mode.

Are you trying to update "superuser"or "phone OS"

**Remember unroot your phone before updating your phone OS

  • @AddisssH I am sorry buddy, i may not be much helpful.I liked to use my device as wifihotspot I had tried various methods to root like "UniversalRoot"and many other but it never worked. I had searched the Internet for months and found this one to be reliable.

  • @bonnsn08 Hey, i get it working. I just dident had busybox at first, dident know that it was a thing that i needed to get it working.. :P

But now i want to do something so i can save the apps to the SD card, do you know anything about it?

I got a program that is called "App2SD" but it says i need Android 2.2 or higher..

  • @AddisssH I had posted the link for "App2SD" in description

Never tried - do this at your own risk.

  • @bonnsn08 Okey thx, i will think about that, to try it.. ;)
