right now thirdy part sw make the difference for pro user, mac is based on open source kernel aniway, you can compile any linux sw for it, it only have a closed gui, osx and windows are equally good for pro users, but linux is out of market, the only thing good about linux is that is completely free, unless you want compare gimp to photoshop, openoffice to ms office 10/11, ardour to cubase/logic and so on

linux is not that bad. people are afraid of it because they think they need to know a lot about computers in order to use it. that is not the case. ubuntu right out of the box was very easy to use.
Build the PC yourself and it will be loads cheaper and way more powerful than any Mac. You can choose all the parts you want yourself that way as well. Mac's may get away with running the latest games but not on max settings and max resolutions. For the Price of a Mac I'd want games running fast as fuck and looking amazing not like shit with choppy gfx and slugging frame rates.

You go to an Apple Store and you have the Genius Bar, that offers a free "hotline" in live. If your mac is under warranty, the problem will be fixed on 24/48 hours. If you're not under warranty, it's like your bloody pc's. My Mac (a Macbook Unibody) had one problem (the fan had to be changed). I bring my laptop in the Apple Store, and the day after, I bring my Mac to his home, with the new fan in, and all a cleaning done to it. So ? What's the problem with Mac ? Stupid Windows fanboy !

I guess it is. But I'm not yet smart enough to want to do anything special, so it works for me now. I'll figure out it's flaws later, like the ability to do nothing. SUDO PAPERWEIGHT MODE.

it is good for if you want to hook up your computer
to an experimental circuit, and it is great when it
comes to hardware, the disadvantages are that
it is still very young, and there aren't that many programs for it

dude for the price of the cheapest imac(1199) u can buy a corei7 920/x58/ gtx 275 sli/ 12gigs of ram/ burners and alot more stuff, all u can in a mac is a 3 year old core 2 duo.

@PlayStation310Lakers it's not a "fanboy" thing to point out what's wrong with a certain brand. my frustration with mac isn't necessarily out of love for PC it's about complete disgust for people who blindly purchase a product because it's "cool". mac is a trendy brand of computer that's really all it has going for it. they have a lot wrong with them and are definitely NOT worth spending nearly twice as much for a mac when you can get a PC that's better for cheaper. that's just common sense.

Do you actually know every mac program out there other than itunes?! the top subscribed channels on youtube use macs many successful channels do. Maybe a movie you've seen in theaters was produced on a mac. and the whole "spent too much money" argument is irrelevant. for some people money is a factor for some it's not. I've had my mac for over a year now and I still use it and don't regret my investment on it.

Now that Macs have been getting around lately, I won't be surprised to see a virus up for it.
I don't understand why you would pay $500-$700 more just for a Mac that does everything a PC can do, but also can't really play games or Blu Ray.

All current Macs have fast enough graphics cards to play games. (Even crysis or COD 4 will run on a 9400m).
and blu ray is stupid. Blu ray movies are expensive and downloading movies is much more convenient and the future anyway.
And if you looked at the apple website for a bit u would find out that it's very very difficult to find comparable PCs for less money.

Build the PC yourself and it will be loads cheaper and way more powerful than any Mac. You can choose all the parts you want yourself that way as well. Mac's may get away with running the latest games but not on max settings and max resolutions. For the Price of a Mac I'd want games running fast as fuck and looking amazing not like shit with choppy gfx and slugging frame rates.

You go to an Apple Store and you have the Genius Bar, that offers a free "hotline" in live. If your mac is under warranty, the problem will be fixed on 24/48 hours. If you're not under warranty, it's like your bloody pc's. My Mac (a Macbook Unibody) had one problem (the fan had to be changed). I bring my laptop in the Apple Store, and the day after, I bring my Mac to his home, with the new fan in, and all a cleaning done to it. So ? What's the problem with Mac ? Stupid Windows fanboy !

I agree you do pay for the quality. I have used both OSX and XP and Mac never got a virus and crashed only a few times. The reason why I actually prefer windows to mac is because I am
1: A gamer who freakin loves games that dont come out on a mac.
2 : The damn price range! Yea you pay for quality but I cant go 4 months without internet or a computer (say whatever you want) while I ponder up some couple thousand dollars.
