  • did he say something like ''control the sounds'' when he first started talking? this shit is hard ><

  • This will be my first lesson:)I was thinking thou, should one purchase the lip reading DVD's?My hubby says if I like,we will purchase them.Thankyou for sharing!

  • Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

  • This is certainly interesting. It's just that I cannot do this.. i couldn't tell what was being said with no audio or even with both together..

  • @915jefflee - the audio is pretty quiet relative to the background noise, so it can be tough to figure it out, even with the video. The best way to do this demonstration would be to calibrate the signal-to-noise ratio for each individual viewer, but obviously that's not possible on YouTube.

  • This is really interesting, because I recognized what it was as soon as I saw the video (with no audio). I wonder if it's because I subconciously heard it in the audio but wasn't able to fully realize it until I saw the video...

  • @NavinJohnson90 - it could be that you are just a good lipreader & that you are a big fan of the Gettysburg Address :)

Knowing what it is, do you still find that seeing the face makes it easier to pick out the speaker's voice from the noise?

  • @ProfessorStephens Well, now watching the video again a second time, yeah. I heard it, I think, because I knew what to listen for. But only enough to recognize which voice was saying it. I couldn't make out every word.
