  • Love you sir!!

  • Hariharan, one of the best voice of India, who can reach any pitch and can sing anything , starting from classic, semiclasic, ghazals wich r fantastic, and list can continu.Sorry to see and read such bad comments for an artist who spend all his life singing , dedicate everything to his country "India".Can any of u sing like him then post it and lets hear and comment .

  • Voice from heaven...Loved it even though I didn't understand a single word...

  • watch this

    A. R. Rahman best melodies ever

  • Any one know where this performance took place? It says BITS in the video title, but there's nothing in the description...

  • It took place in BITS, Pilani Campus

  • What ? This is in the jaya TV studio. AR Raman song bits is what it meant !

  • Truly impressive... Just shows the music genius that India can be proud of. One more thing worth mentioning is the humble admiration of Hariharan's talent shown by Chitra... she is no less... but look at her admiring Hariharan as though she doesnt know music... India has a whole bunch of talent and more importantly the humility... Jai Hind !

  • What language is hi singing?

  • tamil

  • Great Singer

  • thats true... but only to an extent! just listen to the keyboard accompaniment for nila kaiguradhu... from 05:38... simply brilliant! sad that there are really good musicians out there but totally in the background...

  • Hariharan has the so much control over his voice, thanks to his learning of both hindustani and carnatic. This control separates him from other singers. He is truly one of the best singers of this country.Thats why ARR goes for him in all his movies.

  • have been his fan from the 80s just love his style .

  • This kind of singing takes years of training to get this far. India has perhaps the one of the most complex singing cultures in the universe. The interesting thing though is to see Carnataka sytles (actually ancient) in fusion with western music. This is a territory that is not usually ventured into, but Hariharan is not afraid to explore these possibility. That's why he is different from most indian artist. He is totally comfortable within this realm. Awesome!!! I love it.

  • Well actually carnatic and hindustani have always been there in indian film songs. these are composed on raagas n mixed with western instruments.almost all the playback singers are extensively trained in indian classical music. They just dont get the chance to bring 'em out..

  • well the whole thing seems straight forward..."live and direct"...he's there singing "live" and "direct" to you...i heard in his interview that 80% of his stuff in shows is rehearsed and 20% is up to the audience

  • also please clarify what you mean by calling hariharan a "cheater" because are you implying that he cannot sing live??? he has done so many live shows and you can easily tell when something is prerecorded and when something isnt...

  • finally, watch all the parts of this "live and direct" show and you will know that he is singing all of this completely live...his voice really is that good...like i said...this is why he is my favorite singer of all time

  • humble statement..." first of all for doing comments and criticism also v should possess some knowledge or atleast some 'RASANAI'....

NOW TEL US WAT KINDA STUFF U R HAVING TO COMMENT USThAD.HARIHARAN... but if u have means u wouldnt use the word "cheater" to the USThAD...

so please dont use this kindof words, that too in popular medias..!!!

  • and this is why he is my favorite singer of all time...no one can replace him and no one is even close to him...

  • he should be referred to as Guru hari Haran ....wow what command and sweetness in his voice

  • what a voice and talent !. Also listen to "Ay Hairathe" from guru. He sings with feelings..

  • He is such a talented and versatile singer ! so incomparable and legendary. I have'nt seen a singer like this in my life.

  • He is medley of SPB & Yesudas

  • so nice yar

  • chanda re

  • doe anyone can tell wich songs he song in hindi,,??

  • You can check Roja, Sapnay, Bombay, Hindustani, Taal etc...all these are classics!

  • do you know wich song he is singing after "patta patta",(( its nice but i like to know if the song is in hindi :P )) thx

  • malargale...from a movie Mr.romeo if i m not wrong. music ofcourse ar rahman!

  • no its 4m love birds

  • and the song before

    "tu hi re"

    ??

  • who ever supports hari ji's style of variations in his songs is truly a lover of music...it is his this style tat makes his stand apart....everybody else sings songs but hariji makes u fall in love with his songs...

  • he is awsome man

  • no1 can raise voice like him.his hai rama 4m rangeela was fantastic superb

  • Wtf??..Any person who cud find nething wrong in this performance has no idea about music..and the only reason u dont like the variations are coz u cant do them!!!

  • Wtf??..Any person who cud find nething wrong in this performance has no idea about music..and the only reason u dont like the variations are coz u dont like them!!!

  • if you want to understand what we mean, watch Chitraji's expression when Guruji sings the line vaa vaa vaa vaa...

  • I agree sometimes he goes overboard, however, he gives the audience a feel of how differently the song can be sung! it is very good for ardent lovers of music to know the diff styles of singing the same song. if u want the same style of song, go n listen to the cassette/CD.

  • Kanjoos... well said... i`m a person who likez to hear the same song in different versionz... and U`re right, let them buy a cd if they wanna hear the real song. I think there would still be differenz when the same song is sung by different singerz as they have different stylez...

  • i second ytvivs' comments!! Guru Hariharan belongs to the school of thought where a live performance should be made spl by giving the audience an improvised taste of music that they like!

  • here, Hari has tried to put different feels to tha same lines, it reminds me his old ghazals, very touching.

  • hariahrian is niceeee

  • hariharan please get a harmonium , a tabla player and a guitarist to code and a good solo violinists and convcentrate on pure singing please. like Jagjit singh please.we want to enjoy your songs

  • I dont want another Jagjit Singh. Let Hariharan remain the way he is. Someone who experiments is the true musician.

  • indeed he is a good singer...all I said was he tries things beyond his range...he has an excellent base voice...hindustani ghazal is all "mano dharmam"...carnatic is tougher rules and limits..here he sings 'vennilave"" in hindustani style..its a damn simple song, listen to his strain at high pitch,he drags. All I mean is the hype about his versatality is too much..he is just a good ghazal singer.

  • who are you ? and who cares ? get lost and get some life.

  • what do u mean range?who decides who has what range? its the singer who decides how far he wants to go right? so whats so great about singing songs the 'simple' way? theres no substantial skill, you heard the term kalpana?or may be not i guess.too much to expect from a guy who masturbates listening to NSync and TMS.. "just a good ghazal singer" it seems. as though one becomes one overnight. what hype? does he announce he is?no its a general perception of sane people who regard him that way.

  • `TMS is not a weatern singer friend...he is an Indian singer..by range I mean pitch capacity...compare the range of mohd.Rafi and Hariharan.A singer has his limitations...and that decides his range. He is still not worh all the hype about him..and dont get too emotional...its my opinion as a musician.

  • 1. I never said TMS is western. I have immense respect for TMS myself but despite that all the people you have mentioned here did what they did best ALL THROUGHOUT THEIR CAREER. Did they ever try to move out of their comfort zones. NEVER. Did TMS ever try getting into another genre of music or for that matter Rafisaab ? But I would never once say they weren't good at what they did, they were maestros and how they could have been in unknown waters is anybody's guess.

  • 2.Being a musician as you so proclaim you are, I do hope you are aware of the kind of riyaaz that goes into the neravals and improvisations that hari involves himself in. With all due respect I have never, and I mean NEVER EVER heard playback singers do that. The fact that most singers don't improvise during live performances is based on a simple fact, because they can't.

  • as a ghazal singer he is bound to improvise...but it should be appropriate...not anywhere and everywhere, not for a song like vennilave...sounds awful.Pretty strange that you havnt heard other singers improvise...please listen to Ghulam Ali.Here what he has done is he has picked alot of simple songs and made variations on them...its no big thing. All the hype is too much.He is just a good ghazal singer...nothing more.Nice to hear your view point...thanx.

  • 3. I still believe showing different facets of a 'simple' song to the audiences not only demands skill and knowledge but also immense imagination and a lot more creativity that repeating yourself like the way you sound on the OST. Anyway I guess its always a musicians prerogative what he pleases him, and not do what a couple of 'musicians' with pre-conceived notions about simplicity and style want them to be doing. Cheers.

  • You have to be a complete idiot to think that ! One thing I do agree is he has to give more importance to pronunciation and lyrics. But to think he's struggling to reach that pitch ? or that he shows strains - don't kid yourself, this guy's the best in the business !

  • i deny, he is a good singer though he shows off, afterall all his songs were hit. And songs that were sung by him are nt easy to be sang. i accept the fact that TMS and Janaki were excellent singers, bt hariharan is exordinary, he did nt learn carnatic music bt ghazals yet he sings tamil song so well, we should be proud for that.

  • This guy is too much of a show off....he is trying to improvise too much without concentrating on what he is singing! He has alot to learn from seniors like TMS and Janaki who sings tough songs with a smile in their face.Hariharan sings simple songs in tough manner.

  • well whats wrong with improvising...uc an listen to the songs on a cd....u dont get to listen such different ways of singing it....hes awesome...u cant except everybody to be like everyone else...everyone have their own style
