Probably he would have been able to do most of his promises, but with the economy the way it was, it was nearly impossible to do even with all the good intentions. Well, it's true. I take German, and I tell you it's pretty easy to pick up if you already know English. You can tell that they have the same roots due to sentence structure, wording, and the like. Etymologically speaking, English is a Germanic language with words from of other languages thrown in.
