  • Fuck that kid is me.

  • watching this i'm wondering... does steven wilson have kids? can't find anything about it on the web. sure, it's got nothing to do with the music, but as a fan you're always curious, right? i think he doesn't talk about his private life a lot which is good in a way... but somehow this miles davis- kind of coolness seems a bit weird at times

  • HES BIG BROTHER LOOK LIKE

    a realy fucked up man

  • this song is a perfect representation of the garbage culture the ruling class have created. the kids have learned to deal with the obvious clash of value systems by tuning-out. not their fault. it's just a defense mechanism. the real problem lies in big government, big business and all the repercussions of disposable society. bought and sold. disposed of. rinse repeat. time to stop voting and join the nra. send a message they can't ignore. tuning-out is actually helping them win.

  • Fuck all you junkies and

    Fuck your short memory...

    Learn to Swim

  • Best live band in the world.

  • what's his problem with pearl jam???

  • @moustafajan it's not about pearl jam, but about bands which trying to sound like them, don't have nothing own, new, original..... ..... I think:)

  • @sheena205 Yeah I thought so. After all, Pearl Jam is a way great band

  • @Rebellionteam yeah, pearl jam is absolutely great :-))

  • @sheena205 Emo and pearl jam?

    makes no sense at all

  • @gogolplex74

    Emo=Emotional

Pearl Jam is a very emotional band, for example listen to Black.

  • @Franlop3z, Emo is a particular kind of emotional music. Lots of bands put emotional energy into their work, that doesn't make them emo. For instance, it would be pretty silly to call the blues emo.

Pearl Jam is most certainly not emo. Black I'd give you as being somewhat close to that style, but even that really doesn't fit with emo music.

  • @jdlund

a guy said "Emo and Pearl Jam?makes no sense at all"

well, it did made some sense..

    I know what emo is.

  • @moustafajan maybe because its grunge

  • i love the band and song but actually i dont like this video... except for the warning though, that one was really epic XD

  • This is some crazy shit, but you gotta love a concept album

  • Epic warning!

  • little over dramatized . . . or is it?

  • again one of the best songs and videos i have ever seen.....

  • jajaja hace unos tres o cuatro mese atras me compre su cdS estaba recomendado por disquería... a los dos meses siguientes los vi en un festival de rock.. hoy arregaldo mis cds me he dado cuenta q por cosas de la vida

  • omg whats the song at the start O_o

  • @R2J3M Aesthetics of Hate by Machine Head. :]

  • @SentientBeyondDesign no way it cant be the intro is to short and isnt lasting for years :L but thanks man :)

  • @R2J3M watch?v=JQTbLHR-cX4

  • Why was Machinehead's Aesthetics of Hate playing in the intro :O

  • @TheRedBrickWall roadrage trailer, I believe machinehead is still signed on roadrunner records.

  • Album version is much better.

  • best song and video of the world

  • This is great. WHY ISN'T THIS ON THE RADIO? If the response is that none of the public can dance to this, and it doesn't fall into conformity... then you're an idiot. There is a steady beat, and a SHITLOAD of people can relate to it.

  • awesome video. superb.

  • ritalin?

  • great song great video and awsome CD

  • Lasse Hoile sure does like shaking/convulsing heads.

  • esta version esta mejor...

  • awesome, awesome song, awful, awful video

  • any more songs by this band similar to opeth?

  • @atomikfzr1 Maybe the middle section of Anesthetize...

  • "My friend says he wants to die

He's in a band, they sound like Pearl Jam

    The clothes are all black

    The music is crap."

    LOL!

  • Yeah ... that line made me kind of uncomfortably with Porcupine Tree. 'Cause Pearl Jam is my favorite band.

  • @Gamagachee PT is supposed to be your favorite band. EVERYBODY"S FAVE BAND

  • they're really close but I listen to too much music to begin with so it's a challenge lol.

  • Fear of a black planet

  • *0* WoW this band is cool

  • i love the band, but maybe this video was a little too literal...

  • That guitar starting at 4:00 always makes me turn it up louder.

  • Excellent

  • Do they show porn at schools now?

  • Alot of people in my class watch porn while the teacher isn't looking.

  • that's kinda sad

  • is that Limp Bizkit posted on kid's door

  • what is name of the song in the beggining?

  • Aesthetics of Hate by Machine Head

  • The point is we are all born corrupted (by society's definition of corrupted). We are all just little savage parasites who trick themselves into leading the most self-absorbed, self-righteous lives you can possibly imagine. Truth is, this world needs a reality check.

Anyways, great band, I love these guys. Check out some more of their songs if you haven't already. Also check out some of the other bands that Steven Wilson (Lead singer/guitarist of Porcupine Tree) is involved with.

  • 100,000 views. getting there finally. wooh

  • guys...shut it and listen,

  • being born in this generation sucks. i got hooked on drugs and shit from rely early on, i think i was 9. the point being that somehow, probably through really shitty parenting, ppl born in the 90s and 80s face alot of problems and generally dont care about life, cuz it sucks.

  • there are people from all generations that have gotten hooked on drugs from an early age. it is because of the experiences you've had and the choices you've made, not because of your generation. that certainly didn't happen to the majority of 90s kids.

but life doesn't have to suck. it's what you make of it

  • fuck yes

  • i was born in 91, not hooked on drugs of any kind and have about 70 people that will tell you the same

  • true people who lived in the seventies got messed up and then they had kids

  • oh, ffs...

  • Nah, the XBOX wasn't invented in the 70s. No-one would have know what they were on about.

  • Are you dumb? If it was the 70s then Porcupine Tree wouldn't know what an Xbox is either. The point was their style of music would have been popular in the 70s.

    Common sense holy shit.

  • They should have released the video, despite the Virginia Tech Massacre. Would have served as a wake-up call to parents.

  • whats the song at the beginning ??

  • sounds like Machine Head

  • Machine Head - Aesthetics of Hate

  • thanx a million dude

  • Aesthetics Of Hate by Machine Head

  • seeing them Sunday in Boston....yeeeeahhhhhhh!

  • Lucky, I wanted to go to that show so bad! Can't make the trip from school though.

  • a band is only as good as the fans that can relate to their music.. love these guys

  • Comment removed

  • you're a blithering idiot.

  • very dark

  • this is awesome. seriously.

  • whoa, I don't know is this was the radio edit of the song or was edited for the video, but they just killed it.

But looking at the bright side it's a very good video. A bit disturbing, but it's an essential part of the beauty of it.

  • I complained about the edit because the complete song has kind of a cinematic feel. It has a lot of dynamics that were simply cut out, when maybe the director could have used that aspect of the music to create something better.

Tool has awesome videos, true to their music and are as long or longer than the song from the album, and those are long songs too.

I just an example of what I'm trying to say.

  • Sick opening riff.

  • why's that then, the lyrics sucking and all?

  • because they're so, shallow and don't leave much up to personal interpretation...

"and then a song comes onto my iPod"

sorry. referencing an ipod, no matter what point you attempt to get across, ruins the song.

  • I kind of agree, the lyrics were a little weak, but I still think the meaning was well done and the music itself. The entire album got a little stale because they used up all the topics in this song and then had to reuse them to stay true to the topic.

Lots of getting stoned in malls.

  • As individual songs they're all good but when I listened to it all as the album I thought "didn't I just hear this song?"

Oh well, it's still good, and I'll have to pick up The Incident soon.

  • This album scared the shit out of me when I saw how relevant it is to this generation of youngin's.

  • magnific song, great band.... really.

  • aesthetics of hate, nice opener!

  • lol, every generation hates the next.

When the own generation hates itself, rapid adaption occurs... the fastest. ZzZz

  • I was born in the 90's, and am part of the generation that is afflicted by terminal boredom and desensitization to the world. Oddly enough, I play video games only when my friends are over, and watch TV occasionally, spending most of my time running or playing drums. Although there are some that believe the entire generation has gone to the shitter and cares nothing about technology and abusing substances, there are still some of us out there that embrace the world and its everlasting beauty.

  • '93 drugs. videogames. addiction. overcoming addiction. doing the same addictive drugs, having no tolerance. depression. boredom. panic disorder. apathy. sense of wasted time.
  • meh

  • that's because Jesus Christ wasn't taught.

  • The lyrics are so true.

  • tv stupid generation...

  • wise videoclip...and so real..

  • i love the moment when this little blonde kid is under the tree and holds a gun - he looks like young K.C. <3 <3 <3

  • rip kurt cobain.

  • if theres one thing i hate, its child actors...dunno why, just do...porcupine tree is great though

  • none of the kids in this music video is actors tho

  • are you kidding? theyre infront of a camera, being told what to do for a music video. and i bet they're getting paid...why wouldnt that be considered "acting"?

  • I think he's talking more in the sense of being well known

  • it would be hard to have an old man play the part of a child though, but yeah

  • Kurt Cobain at the end.

  • Awesome song and video 8D

  • Love this song!

  • why the machine head at the start?

  • I live in Edmonton, very disappointed that the city is too small for The Incident Tour. Planned on going to Seattle in September, turns out PT will be there too. Bought tickets immediately after finding out. Pumped!

  • YO LOS VI EN MEXICO DE POCAMADRE

  • what a freakin awesome song

  • man I love this song but this video is friggin shite.

  • i realy love this. i´m looking forward to see porcupine tree in hannover (ger) in october 2009.

    great stuff!

  • oh man.... ich wär auch zu gerne da. aber ich kann nich. ich fahr aber dann am 25. nach hamburg.

  • ich bin evtl im september bei dream theater in hamburg.

...der herbst wird teuer aber er wird rocken...

  • Pretty cool vid (in a chilling kind of way), but the song is just not the same without that absolutely sublime coda on the album version.

  • This song is sad but true.

  • luv this song - my fav song tho is trains. cant find the original tho

  • Awesome.

  • wats with the weird machine head at the start?

  • it's called advertisement ;)

  • I love this band, open your mind for a Blank world.

  • nice thx

  • does anybody know from which band the song in the beginning is?

  • yeah. it's not a band, it's just his own little sound sequence. If you don't believe me, ask him.

  • It's Machine Head - Aesthetics Of Hate

  • machine head, the song is aesthetics of hate

  • Comment removed

  • machine head - Aesthetics Of Hate

  • Machine Head.

  • aesthetics of hate

  • by machine head xD

  • wow. that kid is like drunk at age 10. how creepy is that? jeez, too many drunks these days. Anyways, totally awesome song.

  • that kid looks like a serial killer

  • Saw them live in Brisbane and they opened with this song which set the tone for the whole concert.Awesome tho they

didn't play Arriving somewhere which is a personal fav.

  • I really love this album but the video clip is kinda creepy...

    Porcupine Tree is pure genius.

  • I love this group,it put ashame Oasis, pity is underrated!

  • lol was in this video i am the guy with the long hair xD

  • It would be a dream come true to get to jam with this guy, write some songs with him, have a chat and a beer....then have sex...okay skip the last part :D

Steven revolutionized my musical view when i heard In Absentia for the first time after it was released, i'm still as blown away by it as then, same goes with stupid dream and lightbulb sun! If someone's interested they can check out my acoustic songs, highly inspired by steven.

  • Intelligent lyrics.

  • Great song and great lyrics!

    Porcupine Tree ftw!

  • It's rare for a concept album to live up to the category. This one nails it. Porcupine Tree destroys.

  • It's true though, more than half my school is like this and it doesn't show signs of going away... sad

  • I read Ellis's "Lunar Park" before I bought this album and then read a Steven Willson interview where he said: "I read a book by Bret Easton Ellis called Lunar Park in which the central character Robbie, this ten-year-old kid, was very much my inspiration for the main character in Fear of a Blank Planet. " They're both great.

  • not all teenagers fool

  • Great to make a huge stereotype, buddy.

I'm sure Steven Wilson would be proud.

    Elitist.

  • lol'd at the limp bizkit poster in the boy's room! XD

  • lol yeah i always smile when i see that. speaking of, r they dead yet?

  • Nope, they've just had line-up changes. I don't know if they are going to record another album though. Did you know that a boy turns 13 every 40 seconds? [I made that up]. Even so, Limp bizkit have older fans too.

  • And it is probably very easy to figure out that I have made up that statistic!! It sounds cool though.

  • This and Opeth are most probably the best band in Roadrunner.

  • i am so not digging your face. IDIOT

  • hahahaha

  • :P scary

  • Fucking True ...

  • Fuck Yeah!!!!

  • are u emo??

  • Hey Arthas FUCK WORLD OF WARCRAFT
