Since you are not learning with this method but you are doing well in a course for which it obligatory, I would recommend that you do your real learning on your own and simply mark time with this. Since you posted this as a response to my "Shadowing Described" video, why don't you get a good course for using that technique (try to track down a Linguaphone Chinese Course for starters) and give it a try.
well maybe they figured mandarin doesn't have much grammar :)
so learn the words, learn the structure of the language from wikipedia or something and you're good to go :P

By the way, I haven't tried your Shadowing technique, but we do have a large yard. If I find the Linguaphone, I'll be sure to use the technique.
