  • Farnham sang on the NET. Driving My Out Of My Mind.

  • Only three dislikes :)

Shorrock v. Farnham is Australia's version of Roth v. Hagar.

  • I have a question and I hope someone can point me in the right direction. Did LRB ever release a live album fronted by Farnham. I think I have everything they have ever done, but maybe I'm missing one. Thanks

  • @darrinhwy No "live" album.....no.

  • 3 people were Lonesome Losers

  • I hadn't heard of the lonesome loser until I heard this song.

  • I know this guy

  • Cannot even begin to argue the vocals on John farhnam I'm just saying so don't get your panties in a wad haters

  • afarmhand2

FreetheRocks... I want to sincerely "Thank You" for uploading all of the 83 Melbourne concert. Seeing the guys," Rock " again and again... brings back all those memories. "John Farnham" is the greatest...

Bless You and Yours with... "Happy Holidays" !!!

  • i wonder why no one has posted When Will I Be Loved by Little River Band, man it's a good song. I have the Mp3 but really would love to have the video

  • awesome!

  • This song reminds me of myself a born loser and truly I am by far lucky. Nothing never went right for me it didn't matter how much I tried. And to this day nothing about my luck has changed. But I believe that the harder things are in life makes you a better person, for being able to deal with what ever crisis that comes our way. I believe that we can conquer anything because of life's experience. Now would I change the way my past was, not on your life. Would I change for tomorrow you bet.

  • I'm not a fan of this kind of music in particular, I'm into rock, jazz, blues, but what I hear is the lead singer singin' his ass off in a professional way. And it looks like he's into it. Everyone to their own dumbass opinion though...

  • John Farnham is the BEST singer Little River Band has EVER had...PERIOD!!!

  • @usclerkguy - i don't know what's your standard on good singing. You were listening to it all the while hehe

  • what happened to their good singer?

  • @usclerkguy What the hell are you talking about? You have Elektronik Supersonik and Donnie Iris in your favorites. It's obvious you know ZERO about good singers...:):):):):):)

  • @FreeTheRocks rofl. you owned usclerkguy big time...

  • @FreeTheRocks You're a fairly aggressive person for a devotee of this kind of music

  • @c3066521 Yep.

  • @c3066521

    that is funny

  • @c3066521 im president of the FTR fan club.

  • @FreeTheRocks Donnie Iris is one of the best singers ever! Whatchyoutalkin bout?

  • @FreeTheRocks - I think he means Glen Shorrock. Way to dodge the question, man.

  • @JBofBrisbane Oh great....another one who can't spell his hero's first name correctly.

  • @usclerkguy He left and recorded Whispering Jack... Australia's highest selling album to date.

  • @usclerkguy John Farnham shits all over Glen Shorrock for vocal talent. Shorrock is a songwriter, Farnham is an entertainer with a fking amazing voice.

  • @semitones Not wanting to take anything away from John Farnham...he is a fantastic vocalist, and Id give my left nut to have his voice....but the harmonies blended better when Shorrock was handling lead vocals, imho....

  • @FMHammyJ It's ok, man... You can criticize a performance or an arrangement without saying "it sucks" (which you did NOT say - I'm just illustrating a point). When Farnham joined the band, he BECAME the voice - and the legacy of the band (harmony) suffered a little. 3-4 decent voices in harmony can sound brilliant. One fantastic voice overshadowing the others leaves you with - well.... this video is a good example.

  • @FMHammyJ They are both great vocalists but Glen Shorrock is the original best for Little River Band, Farnham was only a fill in, Lets get real here folks, Little River Band wouldnt have been who they are & as good as they are if it hadnt of been for Glen Shorrock! Theres no doubt in that one!

  • @pleydell2000 There are two N's in your hero"s first name genius.

  • @FreeTheRocks Surely we arent going to worry about how many "N's" are in Glenns name? It gets up my nose when people say a fill in singer is better than the original! Farnham is an excellent singer but certainly not up to Shorrocks standard when it comes to LRB. Shorrock blends with the harmonies whereas Farnham is too individual with his singing to be fronting a band that has some of the best harmonies ever! Look at INXS when they tried to replace Micheal Hutchence, NO WAY!! Originals forever!

  • Glen Shorrock was a good singer for Little River, but John Farnham was THE BEST singer for Little River.

  • @usclerkguy This is their good singer.

  • @usclerkguy Every1 get over it! Farham was a top singer and 1 hell of a front man! more charisma than shorrock let me tell you!

  • @bolchy79 charisma doesn't matter who has the best sound for the song and I have to say it's Glenn which is spelled correctly.

  • The Little River Band is one of the Great bands! Thank you for posting.

  • This band never did it for me. I think this song is their main contribution too. This was the insult song. Where people would play it to insult a former lover. Sure was a good way to clear a room too.

  • Qué grupo tan absolutamente grandioso!

  • One has to admit John has alot of talent as a vocalist.

  • great blending

  • umm cocaine???

  • Whilst I enjoy listening to both Glenn and John on Lead vocals throughout the LRB years, I believe that If John Farnham were to have continued with LRB into the late 80's early 90's, the band would have sored in popularitiy and record sales that would have surpassed the Shorrock years. In saying that I still prefer the original Shorrock material.

  • FOH Engineer dropped the ball on this mix.

  • Oh my goodness! I think Glenn and John are both superb singers, just sing in two different styles. I love them both the same. As all singers, one may do one song better where the other singer made do another song better. Love them! I just don't understand how they didn't stay on top for years, with such God given talent. Thanks for posting this clip.

  • The drummer controls the pace of the song. I am thinking they practiced at this faster pace.

  • Its obvious that Johnny Farnham doesnt want to sing this song. He's really rushing through it and not giving it the credit it deserves. He's looking forward to seeing the next track though called "This time I'm playing to win" as it is going to focus on his solo whispering jack career instead of Shorrock's dynasty of classic hits.

  • Yea is blatantly obvious that Johnny put a gun to Graham Goble, Beeb Birtles, and Derek Pellicci's heads to both be in the Little River Band....AND to play this song faster than the original. Why didn't I see it sooner? You are a genius.

  • @FreeTheRocks love the sarcasm...that was dripping so much it didn't need the "tags", lol.

  • see this shit about who,s better than who,the original of any band is the best, but give Farnham his dues, superb singer with a fantastic voice and he added another dimension to lrb,i take my hat off to him.........superb!

  • I liked where he was taking LRB. It's a pity it didn't work out, but that's life.

  • @cass2112 Pete Best the original drummer for the beatles springs to mind as does Bill Wyman and Brian Jones from the Rolling Stones, Paul D'Amour original in Tool, The Yardbirds! they turned into Zeppelin for christs sake. There are probably more bands that are better with a line up change than original.

  • Little Johnny Farnham is Australia's Elvis.

    Give em' a break.

  • Shorrock's version was much better....

  • farnham did to lrb what fergie did to the blackeyed peas Turned a good band great

  • Yea but the Black Eyed Peas are talentless assholes.

  • @FreeTheRocks I don't like their music but they do have a talent to write songs that sell and become huge hits. Or maybe it's just the producer but something about them has talent....

  • @FreeTheRocks I don't like their music but they do have a talent to write songs that sell and become huge hits. Or maybe it's just the producer but something about them has talent....

  • @FreeTheRocks OUCH!

  • going to see the tomorrow night !

  • Who in the hell is this? What happened to Glenn Shorrock, I wonder?

  • shorrock did this best.

  • I prefer the Shorrock version of this song as well. Just my preference.

  • the back up singer makes a lot of LRB songs. shorrock does this better than farnham, but 'the other guy' and 'down on the border' are sensational farnham

  • Extremely gorgeous Major7th chords at the bridge (1:34) Its ok, he smiles and says...etc

  • I have to admit glenn sung this version better, but we can all understand this was the song that was strickly made for shorrock...... he sang it the best !! But, but farnham ruled all the other song's.......wouldn't we agree people...god bless

  • farnham has a better voice better looking and put more feeling into his songs hes the best ,

  • Thanx 4 posting...loved this band

  • Ohhh wish the "embarassment to OZ" "farnham" would just shut the fook up.....how to kill a successful band - just add farnham...... farnham you will never ever be as fantastic as The Legend Glenn Shorrock......

  • Oh geez...another brain-dead Pink Floyd fan smoking too much dope again and spewing stupidity all over the internet.

"Put the bong down and back away slowly"....you've had enough don't you think?

  • At 2:04... what if he trips and falls running back to the microphone? Can you say... extended guitar solo. LOL

  • I can't wait to see them in Virginia!

  • damn - i'd love 2 see them!!!

  • one of my favorite singer: John Farnham

  • Excellent--fan in Nashville.

  • Love the classic "Close Call" when John just makes it back to the microphone.

  • some awesome music...love it...OLDIES RULE!!

  • ooooohoooohooohoohoo fantastic

  • mephastaphalese

  • I had so much fun I almost crapped myself!

  • And nobody did it. Just sad ....

  • no mater who has come and gone in this band they have allways been great

  • What does it take to get a Melbourne audience to get excited? z z z....

  • I fell INLOVE with LRB because of John Farnham. I actually dont remember if I knew his name. I was 13 when this concert came out and I just remember falling head over heals in love with the lead singer. It wasnt til today that I discovered the concert on Youtube. Thank you for posting it. Brings back a heap of memories for me.

  • Many Americans stood in front of their televisions with their jaws on the floor during this show....you are not alone.

John Farnham went on to do some even more incredible recordings...and ended up in the history books(and record books) in Australia.

  • classics just live on ,,,hard ta beat ,,, hard ta stop playin em thanks fa sharing cheers

  • I like both Shorrock and Farnham. I agree that Shorrock owns "Reminiscing," which is my all-time favorite pop song. The version of the band I saw had Glen and Stevie Housden, which was a very good ensemble.

But Farnham ... sheesh, the guy's from Krypton.

  • lols

  • Glen is much, much better. His voice and singing have more taste. With John Farnham, even Reminiscing wouldn't have been a hit. Having more voice doesn't mean a better singer. Proof: this band had no success with John Farnham.

  • Wow....how stupid and wrong are you?

The Farnham Era CD called "The Net" still sells for well over $50 - sometimes over $100 when it show up on Ebay....and the most recurring question on the LRB website message board is "Where can I find the HBO - Live In Melbourne" concert.....THIS concert.

  • I like "The Net", but I don't think ebay prices are a proof for its success, more for it being a rarity. In fact it didn't do well on the charts compared with the records of the Shorrock incarnation. "Playing to win" and "No reins" even did nearly nothing on the charts. So I think it's fair to say that the Farnham-incarnation failed commercially. I guess John Farnham confirmed this in many interviews.

  • Farnham just dosen't count on vocals compared to Sherrock and Goble.

  • another post for "disagree". shorrock was very good and set the bar very high no doubt. you gotta remember that this is LIVE. Farnham has charisma and pipes. alot of LRB's songs actually werent in john's range either. THE VOICE'S rendition of reminiscing was far better than shorrock's. IMO of course.

  • I agree that Farnham is better than the VERY estimable Mr. Shorrock. But I still think Shorrock was a perfect fit for "Reminiscing."

  • He looks like a heavy metal singer. Glen is another thing.

  • You know?I just enjoy a good cover of a song. If the band isn't around anymore, and the new guys do a quality cover Great.

  • Audio not so cristal clear, but anyway I don't care about it,I love thisa song..

  • Turn the vox mics up and the lead guitar up in the mix. Dang.

  • That's one of the reasons why this footage never made it to the final show.

  • Yeah....I figured that.

  • LOVE this song! Such lovely harmonies...

  • John Farnham could never step into Glenn Shorrock's shoes - no offense yet Glenn was in another league..

  • Yep....MINOR League.

  • Couldn't disagree more. John Farnham actually performs a song. Shorrock does little during a performance and has about half the voice.

  • Great Song.

    Poor Quality....

  • No refunds on FREE stuff shit-for-brains.

  • That videorecorder is a lonesome loser!
