  • Hector played the solos he playes on the "volver a soñar song" but it sounds better in the song than it does here. :) God bless

  • Se escucha como Santana

  • Hector gets more interesting sounds that are unique to how he plays. As opposed to the more popular sounds the other guys plays. That's why it might sound better to the ear. Make no mistake Hector's style is complex. Still the other guy thru in some interesting things in too,. They both rock,,,

  • Smoothie!!!

  • How long has Hector been working at this church?>

  • I`ve never heard of this church, but I sure wish I was a member, THIS CHURCH ROCKS!! I love hectors guitar playing, been a fan of his since I met him yrs. back, but I got to give the nod to Craig, cause his licks are cooler and his sound is tight, sorry hector. We still boys:-)

  • I like hectors solo better! it fits that style of song better, notice also hector sounds like hes playing dry (no reverb, or little reverb) where the other man you can hear reverb plus his humbucker as oppose to hector single coil strat, it does make a difference in soloing. hectors solo's sounds authentic even though i agree that the other man is cleaner. hector probablly doesnt practice as much; nerver-the-less hector rocks. peace!!!

  • I disagree... I think hector's better

  • Hector Hermosillo... amazing. God is good.

  • Kraig Rocks!!!!

  • it's sure one way to get people involved in church.... hopefully it make them think and question!

  • MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE UNTO THE LORD !!

  • dcshwarz01 iv'e been to willow when gene and co played 4 songs and 3 were very non christian songs Beatles come together supertramp and 1 more that excapes me at this moment. And very often they play main stream far from christian songs. But ... lol when they do play songs from Christian artists then they always make God happy i'm sure. And isn't our job to catch em and let God clean um.

  • I think you guys are excellent! it's kinda crazy, the people who rejected Christ were the religious leaders. they judged who Jesus spoke to, who He ate with.... I'm sure now a days, which music He listened to on His ipod... i think love wins...the Bible does say... let everything that has breath praise the Lord... i think the unsaved who breathe also praise God, they are also His creation...

  • I love it. Thanks for posting.

  • Jewski28, Bill, Joel, Benny, Joyce, Rick, etc. are all known for being "seeker friendly" they give the people what they want..even asking them what they want..Christ gave the people what they needed - the Way, Truth & Life - It was rejected by most in His day as well as today..these "preachers" need to get on their knees & go through Rev.3:14-21 - not another marketing program

  • Hello from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Please upload more videos as this... is increible... wonderfool ... HHH is a master of bible, a master of music, is my sencond father... keep in touch. blessing jorge

  • So you go to Church to watch a jam band?

Please, enlighten me, how exactly does Christianity fit into these long Santana-esque guitar solos?

  • Hey Jewski28, my name is Ray and I work at Willow Creek. I don't know if this will be helpful to you or not, but I had some thoughts about your questions. I think people come to church mostly to connect to God and learn how He wants them to live. God is so, so creative (see all different kinds of people, wildlife, etc.). When we are creative also (through music, poetry, serving people in need in new ways, etc.) we are like Him and we please Him. (see next comment)

  • People heard this prelude before the service starts and some of them were inspired by the artistry and others ignored it completely and just talked with their friends while waiting for things to start. It was just one creative/relevant way to welcome people into a service as they took their seats. Does this help at all or not so much? Have a different idea of the kinds of things you want to see at church? I'm all ears.

  • Hey Ray and Willow Creek keep up the good work. Creativity, I believe goes a long way!!!

  • hey raypel, don't let jewski's comments bother you (if they do). there's plenty of people on youtube that just comment to stir up some animated response. good job w/ yours

  • How come you couldn't welcome folks in by playing some good christian music. With todays selection there are plenty of good songs to jam out to. The reason you couldn't is because you wanted to play worldy songs that would fill the seats. Its all about numbers. You know God is creative, how about honoring some of those creative gifs he has given us to play songs that lift him up not some guy that doesn't even believe in our Lord.

  • Wow. Those are strong accusations. You might consider citing a source OR indicating which parts are your opinion. Then I think we can have an informed, productive exchange of ideas & thoughts.

Sure, some churches do care more about numbers than others. (In my church experience that's always been the case--except now we don't post in on a wooden board in the back of the sanctuary!)

  • But I don't think that your comments about it being "all about numbers" and "you wanted to play worldly songs that would fill the seats" are even true.

Willow plays a lot of good Christian music. This happens to be an instrumental for the sake of variety (perhaps next week it'll be a classical piece). Are you suggesting that this music is "non-Christian"?

If it was true that all art "lifted up" the thing that inspired it, then I can't even imagine the ramifications of that . . .

    -Dave

  • These musicians are incredibly talented. Psalm 33:3 "Play Skillfully, shout for joy" (NIV). They are playing skillfully and thank God they are using the talent God gave them for Him.

  • J. S. Bach was criticized by the authorities at his church for playing ORGAN solos that went on too long. I think it's refreshing to hear people of faith play good music and enjoy it, while offering their musical gifts to the God who provided them. (I played in the Willow Creek band for 10 years so I know how much fun it is!)

  • Amen brotha. We do a version of Revelation song at my church that requires a few minutes of guitar solo free worship on my part and a lot of people criticize me saying I just do it to show off and that those kinds of things have no place in church. Besides hearing it from the pastors, it's great hearing it from other people that agree skill is a welcome accomodation.

  • dude i have always wondered the same thing

  • These are some top cats playin! Absolutely awesome!
