Next wedesday ive got this on my left leg but theyve got to break my bone at the same time cus my toes arnt in the right place, im only 13 and im really scared, do you get crutches?
@ChloeM104 Nope, no crutches--my surgeon didn't want me walking around. I could hobble on my heels just fine, but I kept my feet iced and elevated as much as possible. It really speeds the healing. Good luck; you'll do great :)
@paolagzzgzz You can walk in your walking boots; there's no need for a wheelchair. I hobbled on my heels or scooted on my butt for the first days. After that, the walking boots are fine. Your feet need to be iced and elevated anyway, not wheeling or walking around.
I always thought that Doctor only can make one foot at the time for you be able to walk... but on this case are both at the same time... so I am assuming that she uses a wheelchair to moving around
Blood clots? I don't think that was a concern. My surgeon is top notch, and I was walking around Europe a month later. It's really not much down time, and you can walk on your heels right away. Of course, I am sure everyone's situation is different. Doing one foot at a time would have prolonged and unnecessary, plus double the anesthesia
What made u decide to go through with the surgery? My doctor told me that if is not bothering me to not mess with it. When I was working in a restaurant it bothered me everyday, I would come home in tears. Now I work at a desk so it doesnt bother me. But my conserns is I might not work at a desk all my life. One bunions is moving under my second toes and I think I might need it bc its not gonna get better bc I'm a very active person. So can u tell me what drove to doing surgery?
@shawnta2002191 Mine were just starting to twinge when I ran. They didn’t really hurt, but I knew it was a matter of time. My sister, mother and grandmother have all had the surgery. My doctor told me it’s better to correct them sooner. Less intense surgery and faster recovery. So I went ahead and fixed them. I am SO glad I did. The surgery was not bad at all. I rather enjoyed the time off. And my feet are great.
@kalisea Thanks for the response. I am a runner and I workout from spinning to doing the elipitcal. How long did it take you to recover? I think I am gonna have the surgery in November.
@heymanhaha absolutely--my feet are great, and I couldn't be happier. I can run fine, and my shoes fit better and wear better. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made.
I had mine done. The first on Dec. 10th and the second jan,28th. I wish I would have made videos of mine. Other than your toes being straight. Like mine. Except yours is gonna leave a nasty scar. I haven't seen a video yet that can compare to the quality of work my Dr. is the ish. ABC Podiatry in Columbus,OH
They do look very good! I am scheduled to have mine done in the middle of June and I am freaking out!! How bad were they to begin with? Is it worth it??
My Surgeon would not do both feet at once due to the risk of blood clots,

She didn't break it, she removed a bone that sticks out next to your toe. It's painful so most people choose to have it removed!
