deer rifle season is very short while bow (includes x-bow in Pa.) is much longer. I wonder if anyone is polling hunters to see the distance of their kill shots. If its under 30 yards, then bow is the way to go.

I bought a 175lb jaguar crossbow and my god I can't cock it! tried all day to do it (without cocking aid) and I just couldn't. The next day my back, arms and legs were very sore. Didn't realise it would need that much strength, either that or somethings wrong with the limb. Ordered myself a cocking aid so have to wait til it arrives.

But it really is a solid piece of kit. Got my eye on an Excalibur vixen next, gona have to go to crossbows4u for that one.

i built a leaf spring crossbow from a 46 inch 49 ford. i literally couldnt pull it -used a boat winch .now if i see someone draw 500,ill be impressed-btw it sucked. yes it would throw heavy bolts but too slow even well strung with breaded steel cable. dont bother

A 150 lbs crossbow has enough piercing power to shoot through a deer at 20-25 yards (which means it has more power than needed), and a 150 or 175 lbs crossbow is easy to cock. Do not afraid, you dont need any devices to help you by the cocking, it is bullshit. And you dont need gloves neither, make it by hand and after 1-2 week shooting you will be able to do it without killing your fingers. Belive in yourself and dont use more devices and equipment than really needed.

It isnt hard to cock if you have the straps because it kills your fingers when you cock it, my fingers were bleeding when I cocked my 175lbs Horton. But yea, its very easy to cock for males (not to be sexist) if you are above 70 KG it should be a snap with the straps, but if you want to do it with your hand, I dont believe you can cock a 175lbs c-bow without hurting your fingers.
