Hey, i just started a 55 gallon malawi cichlid aquarium too and i started with four small fish. Two Demasoni and two johannis, How many did you start with? I want to get more but i know i'm not supposed to add alot when starting out.
@cracksmackinator3000 Okay, your johanni are way more agressive than your Demasoni. So get 2 more demasoni, and leave it like that, untill you know what sex the melonochromis are. Then I would recomend buying female Johanni. Trust me, I have 2 auratus, and no place for more fish, and with just the two of them its a living hell. Good luck though. And make sure to do water changes cause these guys are super sensetive! And if you have anymore questions, then im your guy!

very nice tank...one of the better ones ive seen.....you might want to think about putting up a black background or painting the back of the tank.......would really bring out the fish more and get rid of that "see through" look....black background with black gravel and 50/50 lights really bring out the colors of africans
Awesome tank man! My only suggestion is get a bigger tank! Cause the Auratus and the Estherae will eventually start kicking fins and taking names! In my video on my page I also have a 55 gallon. Now I wish I had a 125 gallon!
