  • when I first checked out Animation Station they were Running Robotech back in 93-94 during my 8th grade year

  • That long ago. Here in Australia we've had Boomerang air all four seasons in recent years.

  • I knew it... Sat through Defenders of the Earth and Bionic Six to watch it... right before Gigantor...

  • I was a child of the Beast Wars era. When I found out about G1 I was like "Optimus PRIME? Not Primal? WHOA!" And then I had my world rocked.

  • i saw bring back the old annoying star scream voice make you feel better watching megs beat the scrap out of him =D

  • Please place more video of the SciFi Animation Station opening and bumpers on YT please. The SciFI Channel Preservation society appreciates this.

  • season 2 intro with season 4/3 music??

  • They did this during the syndication run of Season 2 eps during Season 3 back in the 80s too.

I used to have a few episodes on tape (but I threw them out), but the commercials were CLEARY from the 80s...

  • Okay here's a funny people. On this video, Sci Fi rated G1 as Y7 (FV) which makes sense, but on the Hub Network, it (and GI Joe) is rated PG. Go figure lol

  • They aired them back in 1992 on the Sci Fi also.

  • wow tha takes me back.

  • And to think, in two weeks, G1 will be televised once again!!! On The Hub. Sadly Comcast subscribers won't be able to watch it :(

  • this intro isactually on some of the older UK dvds of season 1.

  • so thats why they put that "the hub" sticker on the packaging of my generations prime.

  • Uh? Season 2 images with season 3 music? WTF?

  • i thick that is season 3 end credits

  • @TheTerminator701 Actually it's Season 3 opening theme.

  • The music that was played with this intro was also the correct one when they aired season 2 on tv the first time. The other intro music was only used when the season first aired. I know this because I have original recordings from when it aired.

  • it would be awesome if they still had the show on tv

  • The popularity of The Transformers had diminished by 1987 in America (evident by how the feature film bombed at the box office the previous year), and so, they decided to cancel further production of the animated series.

  • @NickMichalak It wasn't that popularity had diminished per se. It was mainly because they killed off alot of the fan favorites and people were pissed. Thats also why the movie bombed. Parents that went were pissed with the way they did the characters and kids were saddened. Killing Optimus Prime was probably the nail in the coffin which is why the show is not on the air right now.

  • When Scifi Channel first came out they ran the episodes (mainly ones the Generation 2 series was not airing). I think only 'Traitor' and one other episode was not aired (sorry been so long). They definitely ran them in 1995-96 at maybe 7 or 8 Am EDT. Fox also aired the film on regular tv on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the late 80s.

  • @gamer3121 oh its all because budget cuts or thay didn't make a lot of money off the show

  • @gamer3121 beacause the show is 30 years old so you tell my why thay dont air it any more

  • It was a decision from Hasbro to bring the series to a close, as they wanted to focus on other things. But 98 episodes is pretty darn good for an animated series.

  • im only 10 but im obseesed with g1 transformers i cant help it!!!!! its just too awesome!!

  • Same here

I miss when Sci-Fi Channel was worth watching back in the 90s.

  • You and me both, pal. The 'SyFy' Channel now is just garbage upon garbage 99% of the time. Instead of airing classic science fiction television and films, they produce their own programming, and at least with their 'original movies,' they're utter crap that shouldn't see the light of day. I used to watch the SciFi Channel all the time up until about 10 years ago. Sad, really.

  • Before I Seen The DVDs I Always Thought This Was The O.G. Theme

  • In regards to this part of the description "This is the last time I believe the original series has ever been aired on TV to this day." The last time in the U.S. maybe. The original Transformers series continued in Japan LONG after it was canceled here in the U.S.

  • actually here in singapore they r airing g1 transformers but no g1 toys well accpet for the 25 anneversary insecticans

  • I remeber when this cartoon first came out...I'de rush home from school to watch it....

  • the origonal is aired over her in the UK on a kids chanel caleld KIX my couson showed it to me when i was over my aunt and uncles house sicne he knew i am a huge fan of the Transformers

  • they should do this again.

Kids and young adults will love it. They get great ratings, and hasbro will be happy to sell more toys

  • @90sHeroMAXD they are, hasbros new tv station (starting on october tenth and replacing discovery kids) will be rerunning the show! its also airing the old and the newest gi joe and the transformers prime series,AWESOME

  • @spartenman65

excuse me for a moment.....FUCK YEAH!!

  • *sigh* Scifi, what happened to you, you rocked so much back in the 90's. :(

  • They first aired them in 1992 if I can recall. Made my school mornings epic.

  • They did air the first episode recently in Canada on Teletoon Retro for Victoria Day and they are planning to air a marathon before the movie comes out.

  • the mucic was wrong lol

  • I own a old tape of G1 episodes that had this intro. And this was from the late 80's, too, so it wouldn't have been from Sci-Fi (which we don't get in Canada anyway).

  • @DarthBombshell

This is true. Just before the movie came out, they switched the music from the 2nd intro to this.

  • I remember that,I use to wake up every morning during the summer watch this block.

  • it's actually coming back to TV on Teletoon Retro on May 18. So if you want to see it, look up the channel for it, depending on if you have satellite or cable.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • wow. the season 3 theme fits surprisingly well with the season 2 intro. still prefer the season 2 theme though.

  • This is in the 1st season dvd set. In disc four.

  • damn I so wanted to see it on sci fi but by the time I got the channel in the early 2000's it was long gone. stupid century communications no wonder adelpha baught them out (insert long rant) sorry about that anyway thanks for posting.

  • nice...

  • did not they did

    thanks

  • a real sci-fi channel would show old sci-fi cartoons and shows on saturday morning-image the planet of the apes cartoon, sealab, land of the lost, sigmund and the sea monsters, ewoks, star trek cartoon, herculoids etc

  • Sci-fi channel? Ha! They deserve no such title.

You mean the "B-movie horror station" =D

You're right, having all those shows airing would make ME watch the sci-fi station literally every day and not when absolutely nothing on tv.

  • I've heard varied accounts about this, some people say that the show was broadcast with this intro/music combination during it's original run in some places, or possibly on first repeat. I think I've heard it was something to do with keeping it consistent with the music they were using on the toy commercials. Note that it's not just the S3 music directly laid over the S2 titles, because it's got all the right sound effects to go with the animation.

  • It's because Sci-Fi actually aired the original broadcast versions. That's why it had the original music for the opening.

I think the reason it was changed once it got the DVD release/VHS updates, was due to the audio for this intro only being one channel(it mentions that in the Season 1 DVD extra disc). But it still doesn't explain if they changed to some horrible generic music.

  • Good ole Sci-fi channel cartoons. Back when they showed Ewoks animated series and the CG Starship Troopers.

  • i have been lookig for this for ages thank you

  • I miss the good old days on Sci-Fi, when they use to show cartoons in the morning. :(

  • I'm pretty sure this is on the DVD set, actually. This is how the syndication package showed it, I guess so the music was consistant.

I have about 30 tapes of the Scifi run still, somewhere. Lots of great stuff I hope to capture sometime.

  • this was the same thing they did when they aired G.I. Joe on USA: They would use the DIC opening instead of the regular openng.

  • They also had Sgt. Slaughter introduce the multi-part episodes of the original Sunbow show. I remember catching a few like Worlds Without End (where Slaughter talks with his double from another dimension) and I have a pts. 2, 3, and 5 of Pyramid of Darkness somewhere on tape packed with Ninja Turtle reruns...
