This concept of 'permaculture' was developed by indigenous peoples around the world. It did not fit the European model and was often unrecognized as 'cultivation'.

Ducks & chickens are both useful in a variety of sustainable agriculture systems, sharing some atributes, but with some differences. Many find them equally enjoyable or even prefer chickens.
I got to spend three weeks at the Bullocks' farm on Orcas Island, WA. Really neat folks, and plenty of knowledge and vision. I'd recommend their course to anyone who loves permaculture and lives in western USA or Canada.
This uderstanding contains the ultimate solution for resolving the dilemnas faced by humanity and eliminate our dependence on the industrial agricultural system.
Perhaps the greatest challenge, is to regain sovereignty over land and turn back the pernicious imposition of GM technology.
I have little doubt that the quality of foods gained from these systems will also provide enormous health benefits.
