quero uma! aqui no Brazil é muito cara uma, custa 8 mil reias o que é equivalente a 4 mil dolares, mas, vale apena ter um animal desses, pois sao lindos e maravilhosos!
What a sadly small and boring cage for such a beautiful, smart bird! And it must be a stressful environment with all those other birds in the close vicinity. Yes, at least the environment is clean and at least she gets to come out, but she still deserves better!
hhhk20 you have an Amazing Bird there. I want one! your doing a good job looking after the birds there. Dont worry about what ppls say on here, they dont have a clue what they are talking about. It is like a T.V show called the Lion man. have you seen it? The Lion are kept in a big ish cage, and born in captivity they dont moan about that. Why should you lot moan what hhhk20 when she is helping the lovely birds and doing a good job. Keep up the good work!
Wow, what a most beautiful rare bird! I've only seen these in pictures. They are more beautiful than I imagined. I bought a hyacinth macaw last year which are also rare. Good breeders are what keeps the birds from extinction. I wish people would know facts about these and other parrots before they make comments that are wrong! Beautiful bird!!!
Disgusting pet shops, nice cage for a rare threatened species who has the soul and intelligence of a human being, yet nice toilet sized cage. PROFITS over animal COMFORT & profits over everything... sell sell sell... these are lives. Adopt dont buy pets everyone and buy your pet's food from special animal free food shops
@guehlstorf Exactly what I heard and found tourcherous to cope with listening to when I watched this video. Screaming in pain to be let out of that shit hole & to hopefully find a loving forever home - russian roullette for them.Imagine life in a tiny cell w/ ppl screaming all around u 24/7 let me out!
@IDzy No kidding. I have totally given up on jewelry of all kinds (except my wedding band) because of my birds. They are clearly bird toys, right? LOL
This is depressing for me. Parrots are real victims of society. Parrots are not domesticated animals meant as pets in cold steel cages. They are wild birds. That cockatoo had a single perch. And a single toy. Disgusted.
Wow, I did not know parrots can be that friendly - to strangers, no less. I wish I could have one as a pet, but I don't think I could ever commit to something like that. Cats are the best pets for lazy pet owners :D
GC, is the Black Palm Cockatoo the largest parrot species in the whole world, or is the Hyacinth Macaw larger? I know they are both larger than the Moluccan Cockatoo.
dont ever buy a cockatoo. its like having a 5 year old with a 2 year old attitude, and imagine 10 little girls screaming all day. that is what you get. $12-19K in our area depending on the parents.

I am so lucky i get to see Cockatoos everywhere here in Sydney Australia, in their natural habitat rather than these poor birds who'll live the next 70 years of their lives in a cage. I dont see many black ones but the white ones are literally everywhere. Gorgeous birds.
@Cristiano120100 not usually they are about the same just a tad smaller but i have seen one that was bigger then a hyacinth and its beak was enormous the beaks on these are thinner and feel some what soft the hyacinths is wider and more rough
Bird people are about as bad as horse people when it comes to being "right". Anyway, I never knew these birds were legal here o__o are they... or are they not? I thought they were more wild in nature... or something. Beautiful regardless.
This is not an agressive comment, just a thought...
Isn't it a "waste of birds" to sell rare species, and even endangered species (like Red-vented 'toos) as pets; instead of involving them in a breeding program for conservation ?
when that sweet bird came up to the man, I got tears in my eyes because she is so freindly and trusting of him- she really likes him-I hope she's happy today....
The bird habitat is not being destroyed as Cape York is a huge protected national park and so far away from humans that its still pristine.
Australia is not America or Europe as we have set laws the insures that no more enviroment is destroyed at all.
This birds furture is secure.
But its still illeagle to own this bird anywere without the national parks of australia cert for wildlife and that something the illeagle bird traffickers
If you had actually thought about what I said (or read it correctly) you would have noticed that I said "most of these birds" by which I meant parrots in general. For many of the South American birds the only real hope is preserving the habitat or domestication. This has been a common topic of discussion among bird enthusiasts. Next time you want to tell someone they don't know what they are talking about, try reading their comment carefully first, and then learning to spell.
But climate change is causing the ecosystem to change in Cape York. And across the straits in Papua New Guinea, the Chinese are plundering what was one a pristine stronghold of this bird and numerous other creatures found almost nowhere else. The future for the black palm cockatoo is certainly better than that of many other species. But it is not without its threats. And if your laws ensure that no more environment is destroyed, then tell me what happened to the Murray-Darling.
My Budgie died after a couple of years after i bought him, I AM PROUD TO SAY I GAVE HIM THE BEST TWO YEARS OF HIS LIFE AS A PET! MISS HIM SO MUCH :(:(
Next time any of you animal rights fools want to complain about a captive animal, think about how every time you wipe your ass, your using a tree that was destroyed from their habitat, every time you crank your car, your poluting their air, their water, etc. Your taxes and money are being used to build new roads, cities, homes, etc...all of which are destroying areas animals once lived. This will never end because humans are too stupid. So either start adopting before they all die out or shut up
95% of all humans on this planet are complete idiots. As long as the animal is well taken care of, then who cares? Oh yeah...the fools who have nothing better in life than to sit around and harp about cruelty to animals. News flash retards: the thing that separates humans from animals is a concience. ANIMALS DON'T HAVE A CONCIENCE. They don't know or understand that they arent free in the wild, so how could they be miserable? Find something new to complain about.
Ive got 3 black palms a african grey and 2 umbrella's. my african grey ive noticed doesnt get along well with my umbrella's so keep her with the black palms.
i must say.. as much as i love 'toos.. the palm jus sorta looks creepy to me! like a bird from a bad horror movie! lol .. gotta love those that are so ugly they are cute!
@luviesnPsue Black palms may be not look the most charming. but when it comes down too it they are hands down the most affectionate. what people dont realize. Palm cockatoos are what actually get people even more lost in forests. their known to scream out HELLO!!!
i soo agree @ Judocreature... I have a moluccan she will never stay locked up, unless we aren't home.. she has full run of the house just the same as the rest of our zoo! haha! 'sides, CPS says i cant lock up my kids, its against the law!!
How weird. The woman who takes Ebony out of her cage in that store in Florida now works in a pet bird store in California where I shop. Hi, Diana! :-) I clicked on this video randomly and there was Diana. Small, small world.
Owning a bird, in the way that most people own them (ie: locked in a cage), is like a "boat in a bottle". Or the "song of a caged bird"...you must have heard that expression before as it's well known. It's a sad situation. You just do not get it because you're a selfish human being who thinks it's ok you capture and cadge nature for your own selfish desires. You're a sick product of a selfish society that is only concerned about its own gratification.
A true bird lover does not just lock their bird in a cage and let her sit there. A bird has to have a place to stay and keep her safe when her owner is not around, but that doesn't mean that we keep our birds locked in their cages all the time. Responsible bird owners have toys and large cages for their birds and take them out often, hold them and give them plenty exercise and outside play time.
Our birds are friends and beloved children, not prisoners.
@MustNotRead Birds have been kept as pets for over 4,000 years. There are Egyptian hieroglyphs showing birds as pets. Also, do you live under a roof? Do you drive a car? You are a selfish human being who thinks its ok (for) you (to) capture and cage (?) nature for your own selfish desires. The only way every animal on this earth will be happy is if the human race disappears of the face of the planet. We are destroying THEIR habitat. The least we can do is give them a nice home. Get over yourself
@jessica27d You are a clueless idiot. "We are destroying their habitat. The least we can do is give them a nice home"? That's the same argument used by the US government used to justify their destruction of the American Indians. Also, pedophilia has been around "for over 4000 years". Does that make it OK, as well?
@hhhk20 How are you going to make an argument when you ignore the points I am making? I agree that humans are selfish. But you and everyone else that decide to "fight" for their rights are the very ones destroying their original homes. You watch these videos and comment on them just so you can make yourself feel better by arguing against something trivial. Our birds aren't tortured. They live long, HAPPY lives and many are allowed to fly. YES, its called free-flying. Please look it up.
@csolliges Do you actually think that the ability to say "Daddy", or "hundreds of dollars worth of toys" is a substitute for freedom? Your argument is as pathetic as your approval of these beautiful birds being kept in captivity. You state that the birds are treated "better than most human kids". I don't know of many human kids that are kept in a cage at night. Do you, dumbass?
@hhhk20 omg shut up, if it was born in captivity it wont even know what its apparently missing, plus the fact that birds tend to live alot longer in captivity, id take living an extra 30 years longer any-day. Plus there's not exactly a high chance of death in captivity, where as in the wild their habitat is subject to seasonal wild fires and deforestation.....you DUMBASS
@MrAkatuki6 It's not about longevity, it's about QUALITY of life. By your faulty reasoning, someone born into slavery should have been OK with it, because, since they never experienced freedom, they didn't realize what they were missing. That's the most ridiculous, pathetic, self-serving argument for imprisoning a bird that I've ever heard! You are as dumb as you are selfish.
@hhhk20 you compared keeping a bird to slavery? and your calling me the stupid one, i take it you dont have a bird so clearly your commenting is a one sided coin as iv had my African grey for about 8 years and yes i do understand the implications of keeping a bird in a cage but the only time my bird is in her cage is when she's sleeping my bird is FREE to come and go from her cage whenever she wants.
@MrAkatuki6 Bird or human...all creatures deserve freedom. Is your bird free? Of course not. Whether your bird is in her cage or flying around your home, she is nothing more than a prisoner. Inmates in certain minimum security prisons are allowed to "come and go" from their cells whenever they want to, but they are not free. Neither is your bird. Unfortunately, for her, she's only served 8 years of life sentence. You are badly failing in your attempt to defend behavior that is indefensible.
@hhhk20 Just because a bird is kept as a pet doesn't automatically make it a miserable thing. Learn the difference between slavery and family. My bird is my family, and he is the happiest thing that could ever fly.
@hhhk20 So, based on your opinion that all creatures should have freedom, are you saying that I should open my door and let my birds that don't KNOW how to find food, water, or shelter from extreme temperatures try and live in an environment polluted by ignorant human beings? They wouldn't make it a week. Should I throw my dog out into the street and hope she survives, because its "better" for her? It might be nice to be free, but disease, starvation, or being eaten doesn't seem too great either
@hhhk20 your comparing keeping a bird to slavery? and you call me the idiot. the only time my black palm is in her cage is when she's sleeping she's free to leave her cage whenever she feels like it. Are you aware that a captive bred bird cannot look after itself in the wild as it does not know how to feed itself so if i were to let my bird go that would surely be a death sentence would it not. and when there natural habitat is destroyed what should we do then? just let them become extinct
Agreed. Some people think that keeping a bird is like keeping a prisoner, but most pet birds live happy, stressless lives and live longer too. If they were now set free they would surely die, so is freedom more important than life itself? Speaking of freedom, nothing is truely free especially humans. Am I free to not pay taxes? No. Am I free to travel without a passport? No. etc.. hhaa I don't see a bird as a slave or prisoner i see it as a companion and friend :)
@hhhk20 I don't understand why you watch these videos if you are just going to force your opinions (made with little to no subject matter expertise) on those that don't want or need them. Go watch a video of a "free" bird instead.
@hhhk20 A crib is quite similar to a cage. In which children are kept in at night, and a lot during the day if the parents don't feel like watching their kid.
@jessica27d Jessica, you are a fucking imbecile. Your analogy of a child using a crib is a complete and pathetic failure. Cribs are used to keep little kids from falling out onto the floor and risking brain damage. Clearly, this is what happened to you. Unfortunately, you didn't die from the fall, and now live on to express your meritless arguments in support of animal cruelty.
@hhhk20 And our cages prevent our (born in captivity) birds from certain death from starvation, disease, or other predators. You need to think beyond the surface and try to see the point. Name calling and attempts at insults just show how juvenile you are being. It also happens to be a knee jerk reaction to not being able to come up with a valid argument. Once again, if you don't like these videos, don't watch them. That simple. Why aren't you watching videos of dogs and whining there?
@DONOTMlSS It IS necessary, when expressing outrage at the cruel and selfish practice of imprisoning these birds, and the meritless arguments people use to try to justify and their morally criminal behavior. Now stop defending these criminals, and go back to playing your video games, you fucking dumbass.
I don't think birds owners are cruel or anything like that, but here is my 2 cents opinion on the subject...Owning a wild animal (especially such intelligent birds) as pet and treating it as your child is not necessarily treating it properly...Because a bird's place is in the Wild, or at least in a huge aviary with many environment enrichments, a partner or even a colony. Giving them a kiss, taking them on the shoulder, etc. is nice, but it's not exactly what they'd naturally need.
@MsWeaselette I agree with you.What they need is freedom. As a bird owner I know that and understand that. I would love to be able to open my doors and let my birds fly free. But I can't. They are captive born. They would be dead in days, if not hours. They do not know how to find food because they have never had to, it's been supplied since birth. All I can do is take an animal that was born in captivity and give it a good home and lots of love. They could be alot worse off than with me.
@Sweetassour So, birds should be let go, right? Honestly, I'm the first person to agree that the only thing more beautiful than a bird in captivity is a bird in the wild, free as can be. But sadly, we can't turn loose every macaw, cockatoo, budgie or any other pet bird. If I were to turn out my baby lutino cockatiel out into the wild, he would be eaten in a second. Plus, him and his big sis are almost never in there cage, only at night or when im out, which isnt that often.
God those Cockatoo's are soooo smart and majestic. They had a blip about their elaborate mating rituals on the PBS Australia Bird Movie. I wonder how that shop managed to get her. I am not going to jump to assumptions about being "wild caught" or "captive bred" as she seems so incredibly hand tame.....but it kills me to see her in that goddamn cage. I hope she has a good home.
So much miss information, There are very strict breeding programs and this is more than likely a product of them, a beautiful gentle hand feed baby girl who went to a place with a male to bond with.
Without Palm breeding programs this type bird would be short lived in the wild just like Hyacinths and other amazing parrots.
"behaves cutely" are you kidding? it looks depressed and oppressed, as though it wants to commit suicide. you think thats "cute". i dont think birds should be kept as pets, its just not right.
she's cute because she seems cuddly and loving, and trusts people- she could cause serious injuries with that beak.
taking her to australia and setting her free would never happen, and likely she's already used to being a pet (getting food and water, no danger like predators), it would be a bad idea to set her free anyway
you're right on some level, but she found a good caretaker and a mate, if she gets and gives love in a good home probably she's a rather lucky bird.
I typed "black cock" on youtube, this came up

Bird people are about as bad as horse people when it comes to being "right". Anyway, I never knew these birds were legal here o__o are they... or are they not? I thought they were more wild in nature... or something. Beautiful regardless.

This is not an agressive comment, just a thought...
Isn't it a "waste of birds" to sell rare species, and even endangered species (like Red-vented 'toos) as pets; instead of involving them in a breeding program for conservation ?

The only hope some of these birds have is domestication. Their territory is simply being destroyed and they are being driven toward extinction
pertiseinat 1 year ago 3
@pertiseinat
LOL you dont know what u are talking about.
HonestBloke 6 months ago 13
@HonestBloke
If you had actually thought about what I said (or read it correctly) you would have noticed that I said "most of these birds" by which I meant parrots in general. For many of the South American birds the only real hope is preserving the habitat or domestication. This has been a common topic of discussion among bird enthusiasts. Next time you want to tell someone they don't know what they are talking about, try reading their comment carefully first, and then learning to spell.
pertiseinat 6 months ago
@HonestBloke

So either start adopting before they all die out or shut up
casaurius 1 year ago 4
95% of all humans on this planet are complete idiots. As long as the animal is well taken care of, then who cares? Oh yeah...the fools who have nothing better in life than to sit around and harp about cruelty to animals. News flash retards: the thing that separates humans from animals is a concience. ANIMALS DON'T HAVE A CONCIENCE. They don't know or understand that they arent free in the wild, so how could they be miserable? Find something new to complain about.

MustNotRead 1 year ago
@MustNotRead Wow, you're repulsive.

Get over yourself
jessica27d 3 months ago
@jessica27d You are a clueless idiot. "We are destroying their habitat. The least we can do is give them a nice home"? That's the same argument used by the US government used to justify their destruction of the American Indians. Also, pedophilia has been around "for over 4000 years". Does that make it OK, as well?
hhhk20 3 months ago
@hhhk20 How are you going to make an argument when you ignore the points I am making? I agree that humans are selfish. But you and everyone else that decide to "fight" for their rights are the very ones destroying their original homes. You watch these videos and comment on them just so you can make yourself feel better by arguing against something trivial. Our birds aren't tortured. They live long, HAPPY lives and many are allowed to fly. YES, its called free-flying. Please look it up.
jessica27d 3 months ago
@csolliges Do you actually think that the ability to say "Daddy", or "hundreds of dollars worth of toys" is a substitute for freedom? Your argument is as pathetic as your approval of these beautiful birds being kept in captivity. You state that the birds are treated "better than most human kids". I don't know of many human kids that are kept in a cage at night. Do you, dumbass?
hhhk20 1 year ago
@hhhk20 omg shut up, if it was born in captivity it wont even know what its apparently missing, plus the fact that birds tend to live alot longer in captivity, id take living an extra 30 years longer any-day. Plus there's not exactly a high chance of death in captivity, where as in the wild their habitat is subject to seasonal wild fires and deforestation.....you DUMBASS
MrAkatuki6 1 year ago
@MrAkatuki6 It's not about longevity, it's about QUALITY of life. By your faulty reasoning, someone born into slavery should have been OK with it, because, since they never experienced freedom, they didn't realize what they were missing. That's the most ridiculous, pathetic, self-serving argument for imprisoning a bird that I've ever heard! You are as dumb as you are selfish.
hhhk20 1 year ago
@hhhk20 you compared keeping a bird to slavery? and your calling me the stupid one, i take it you dont have a bird so clearly your commenting is a one sided coin as iv had my African grey for about 8 years and yes i do understand the implications of keeping a bird in a cage but the only time my bird is in her cage is when she's sleeping my bird is FREE to come and go from her cage whenever she wants.
MrAkatuki6 1 year ago 3
@MrAkatuki6 Bird or human...all creatures deserve freedom. Is your bird free? Of course not. Whether your bird is in her cage or flying around your home, she is nothing more than a prisoner. Inmates in certain minimum security prisons are allowed to "come and go" from their cells whenever they want to, but they are not free. Neither is your bird. Unfortunately, for her, she's only served 8 years of life sentence. You are badly failing in your attempt to defend behavior that is indefensible.
hhhk20 1 year ago
@hhhk20 Just because a bird is kept as a pet doesn't automatically make it a miserable thing. Learn the difference between slavery and family. My bird is my family, and he is the happiest thing that could ever fly.
TheMuffinBurgler 1 year ago 4
@hhhk20 So, based on your opinion that all creatures should have freedom, are you saying that I should open my door and let my birds that don't KNOW how to find food, water, or shelter from extreme temperatures try and live in an environment polluted by ignorant human beings? They wouldn't make it a week. Should I throw my dog out into the street and hope she survives, because its "better" for her? It might be nice to be free, but disease, starvation, or being eaten doesn't seem too great either
jessica27d 3 months ago
@hhhk20 your comparing keeping a bird to slavery? and you call me the idiot. the only time my black palm is in her cage is when she's sleeping she's free to leave her cage whenever she feels like it. Are you aware that a captive bred bird cannot look after itself in the wild as it does not know how to feed itself so if i were to let my bird go that would surely be a death sentence would it not. and when there natural habitat is destroyed what should we do then? just let them become extinct
MrAkatuki6 1 year ago
@MrAkatuki6
Twime777 1 year ago
@hhhk20 I don't understand why you watch these videos if you are just going to force your opinions (made with little to no subject matter expertise) on those that don't want or need them. Go watch a video of a "free" bird instead.
jessica27d 3 months ago
@hhhk20 A crib is quite similar to a cage. In which children are kept in at night, and a lot during the day if the parents don't feel like watching their kid.
jessica27d 3 months ago
@jessica27d Jessica, you are a fucking imbecile. Your analogy of a child using a crib is a complete and pathetic failure. Cribs are used to keep little kids from falling out onto the floor and risking brain damage. Clearly, this is what happened to you. Unfortunately, you didn't die from the fall, and now live on to express your meritless arguments in support of animal cruelty.
hhhk20 3 months ago
@hhhk20 And our cages prevent our (born in captivity) birds from certain death from starvation, disease, or other predators. You need to think beyond the surface and try to see the point. Name calling and attempts at insults just show how juvenile you are being. It also happens to be a knee jerk reaction to not being able to come up with a valid argument. Once again, if you don't like these videos, don't watch them. That simple. Why aren't you watching videos of dogs and whining there?
jessica27d 3 months ago
@hhhk20 You are being so immature, you can argue your point (which I disagree with), but don't use foul language. It is not necessary.
DONOTMlSS 3 months ago
@DONOTMlSS It IS necessary, when expressing outrage at the cruel and selfish practice of imprisoning these birds, and the meritless arguments people use to try to justify and their morally criminal behavior. Now stop defending these criminals, and go back to playing your video games, you fucking dumbass.
hhhk20 3 months ago
@csolliges
MsWeaselette 1 year ago
@MsWeaselette I agree with you.What they need is freedom. As a bird owner I know that and understand that. I would love to be able to open my doors and let my birds fly free. But I can't. They are captive born. They would be dead in days, if not hours. They do not know how to find food because they have never had to, it's been supplied since birth. All I can do is take an animal that was born in captivity and give it a good home and lots of love. They could be alot worse off than with me.

Sweetassour 8 months ago

I hope she has a good home.
cherrybrunette77 1 year ago
So much miss information, There are very strict breeding programs and this is more than likely a product of them, a beautiful gentle hand feed baby girl who went to a place with a male to bond with.
Without Palm breeding programs this type bird would be short lived in the wild just like Hyacinths and other amazing parrots.

MustNotRead 1 year ago
@MustNotRead
she's cute because she seems cuddly and loving, and trusts people- she could cause serious injuries with that beak.
taking her to australia and setting her free would never happen, and likely she's already used to being a pet (getting food and water, no danger like predators), it would be a bad idea to set her free anyway
you're right on some level, but she found a good caretaker and a mate, if she gets and gives love in a good home probably she's a rather lucky bird.
