I first watched this about 5 or 6 years ago, at catechissm class when I was 10. I remember everyone in the room started crying so hard then we realized what God had done for mankind. I still cry when I watch this and ask myself, "What would I have done?"

Although a moving short film, I fail to see how this accurately represents God's "sacrifice" of Jesus. 1) God knew LONG in advance this would happen. The father in this video made a panicked, last minute decision. 2) Jesus (supposedly) willingly died, he knew what was at stake. The boy in this video had no choice, he was simply killed by the father with no prior plan. 3) The father in this film loses his son FOREVER. God got Jesus back in... 3 DAYS. Not very comparable, is it?

He went through a lot for our sake. whipped and beaten and more, he was carrying a part of the cross that he would be crucified with (he died). do you do that before you go to summer camp? He did it for us so our sins would be forgiven if we choose to accept God's grace and love through faith in Jesus Christ. although you probably are not a Christian, show respect for those who belive. and i hope they will have respect for you.

Modern "ethics" do not use the term morality, except to speak of religion which is to be ousted from society. But Natural Law is not religious, only rational.

The only observation to keep in mind, is what you loose with a utilitarian system (and its constituent theories): right to life, dignity, respect for others (not just respect for other life). Nazism and Communism are not evil, but acceptable systems of "economics". Although a moving short film, I fail to see how this accurately represents God's "sacrifice" of Jesus. 1) God knew LONG in advance this would happen. The father in this video made a panicked, last minute decision. 2) Jesus (supposedly) willingly died, he knew what was at stake. The boy in this video had no choice, he was simply killed by the father with no prior plan. 3) The father in this film loses his son FOREVER. God got Jesus back in... 3 DAYS. Not very comparable, is it?

i got the message, but there are things that keeps me bothered... what is the boy trying to do? is that another lever to put the bridge down? if it is i think the design of the bridge to put the bridgemaster's life in danger is very wrong... another, the red light is clear, why does the train keep on going, instead putting more coal??? some are not designed for safety, some have safety precautions but not being used... anyway, i really don't want to be in that situation.

i knew the story when i was a kid. good that they made a video/movie out of it. it still brought tears to my eyes. the passengers in the train didn't even know what someone gave up for their lives.
