Somalia and Haiti weren't the central battlegrounds of their generation, nor would the collapse of their governments have a huge effect on regional stability (as in Iraq). Plus, unlike if al-Qaeda wins in Iraq, they didn't have the capability to strike at the US.
So McCain takes different positions on wars under different circumstances, 15 years apart. Compare that to Obama, whose views and allegiances basically change by the week. (Campaign finance, anyone?)

The difference between this and now is that we are beginning to win the war in Iraq. Sure it may have been a bad move in hindsight, but for how long we have been there and how close we are to restoring order and democracy, it would be a horrible decision to stop inches before the finish line and let all those trrops we have lost die in vain. Also, an interesting fact, more people have been murdered in Chicago within the last six months than soldiers in Iraq. Should we withdrawl from Chicago?

He is the same person, but he is being tactical about winning the presidency. Just like Obama is. They're both doing exactly what they think they need to do to win the white house. I mean, look at the primaries, Ron Paul clearly should have been the winner, but he didn't cater to the Republican views 100%. This angered many, even though he was telling the truth, and now he doesn't have a shot at the presidency. I am not a fan of either party. But I do have my opinions on individual issues.

I do understand what you are saying. But we do have several reasons for being in Iraq. 1 is that we helped put Sudam Hussien in power and helped keep him there for a while. We were responsible for many of the people he killed. 2 is that we needed a base there. I do not agree that the war is a mistake and i never will. It is very disrespectful to the troops to say that.

Somalia and Haiti weren't the central battlegrounds of their generation, nor would the collapse of their governments have a huge effect on regional stability (as in Iraq). Plus, unlike if al-Qaeda wins in Iraq, they didn't have the capability to strike at the US.
So McCain takes different positions on wars under different circumstances, 15 years apart. Compare that to Obama, whose views and allegiances basically change by the week. (Campaign finance, anyone?)

The invasion is a sunk cost. The salient question now is, given the current state of things there, what do we do? McCain, correctly, says that we need to finish the job to make sure Iraq doesn't become another base for al-Qaeda.

Whoever thinks WT7 came down from just a fire burning is a really big dunce,other steel skyscrapers have burned for days and never fell, and how come WT3-6 did not fall, they were damaged/burning more than WT7.
