She told me that the Taliban had beaten many of her friends for being in public without a male family member. She said that finally they had enough food to eat, and did not have to live in constant fear. She said that her family and friends were thankful. I don't know her age. She didn't know. Probably 50's.

In every religion, there are extremists who derive their own solitary conclusions from the text and will stop at nothing to persecute those who differ in belief. The Army are the ones forcing people to join al Qaeda and the Taliban, because we are killing their families and homes. @visini14 I asked someone from Afganistan. She said that she was grateful that the Taliban had been forced up into the mountains, and that her daughters could now attend school. She told me that the Taliban had beaten many of her friends for being in public without a male family member. She said that finally they had enough food to eat, and did not have to live in constant fear. She said that her family and friends were thankful. I don't know her age. She didn't know. Probably 50's.

@edwardschlosser1 Yes I know, I have talked to a few online too, but I was talking about during the Bush years when it was just push the Taliban out, then the Americans leave, and the Taliban come right back in. That doesn't work, and I am glad that now they are actually not leaving when they capture a city from Taliban control. I am just worried about what will happen when the troops leave, will it be another event like what happened when the Soviets left Afghanistan?

@visini14 When we pulled out of South Korea, they held and now they have a pretty good life. When we pulled out of South Vietnam they folded like a cheap card table. Who knows? You can't do everything for people. Iraq is sure a hell of a lot better off today then they were 10 years ago, and they have a future. If Afganistan fails it will be because of graft and corruption. My business partner is from Afganistan, and her mother stills lives there, but travels back and forth.

@edwardschlosser1 Yeah, but those countries already had a basic form of government before we left, so they really didn't have much to worry about, and they had enough money to fund military and things to protect them, Afghanistan doesn't have that. They haven had their own government(without the Taliban) for 20 Years, not counting the US as a temporary form. Yeah I know that we cannot do everything for other countries, but there is a point to the extent that we can help like we "help" Israel.

How could the US Government invade Afghanistan for minerals that were found 9 years later? No 9/11 was committed by al Qeada who was sheltered by the Taliban using weapons given to them in the 80s to help get the Russians out. Not all soldiers are evil like those are. I suport the soldiers in the sense that I don't want them to get hurt, just like I don't want anyone to get hurt.

It was the terrorist group al Qaeda. I believe that not just because of the WTC car bombing, but in 2006 he confessed to everything such as the WTC bombing, 9/11, and many more. @Alidxb9 If the US government really knew about the minerals and wanted them bad enough, they would have got out all of the Taliban, and made a government that was really close to the US, or just make Afghanistan a part of the US, and then the minerals would be theirs, but they didn't. In Iraq the Oil didn't even come close to the US, almost all of the Oil goes to Asian and the rest to Eastern European countries.
