excuse me? my huband works fulltime and making only $10 an hour..thats a little above minimum wage here in NY. we live on section 8 paying $500 a month rent and can barely afford it with the cost of food/car/insurance/utilitys/bills... add it up .you could never live alone in any apartment on minimum wage. not possible. so shut your ignorant mouth!
landlords DO walk all over their tenants without a second thought--that is what landlords do. a little protest isn't gonna change the fact that landlords are mostly heartless, greedy, sorry excuses for human beings.
This is a tough situation. I'm a self-identified white art kid, maybe I'm part of this problem. It's complicated though. I moved here because it's one of the few neighborhoods I can afford and make music in. I don't need any of the shopping, the restaurants, the luxuries, I don't need any of that shit, that's why I moved out here. It fucking sucks that people are being herded out like this, and it sucks getting shot with paintballs cause I'm a white art kid
I don't know though, at the same time in a lot of areas in Bushwick its crummy and dangerous. Even for the people who've lived there for years. Children are exposed to a hazardous environment and that follows them if they're nurtured to believe that's the norm and that's meant for them.. So in my eyes, I personally think its time Bushwick got a face lift. I don't feel safe walking around That part of Brooklyn.
