The RIB is in one of many whirlpools caused by a tidal anomaly north of Jura. The strait is still marked as unnavigable but there are divers and kayakers who go through at slack water. We went through on a large RIB trip run by Seafari where they turn the engine off and you spin in the whirlpool.

you cant see the eye of the whirlpool, but look at the surroundings..they are going in circles.

For many years I kept a wee boat at Crinan but was aye too scared to go thru The Corryvreckan. This is the closest I've been to it. Many thanks for sharing.

You can ask them when the best time is to go as they can use their tidal charts to suggest dates - it is all pot luck though as it also depends on the wind direction. The whirlpools (there were several) were not as bad as they can get. Great fun though.
