Limit to Key doesn't tune to the most precise note only, it's to the closest note within the key signature your track is written in. If Limit to Key is off it will tune the vocal chromatically so it won't keep within the key signature of the track. Just clearing that up.

Technically the vocoder is the technology behind auto-tune, specifically a phase vocoder.

I'm not clear on the differences between the phase vocoder and the "classic" vocoder, though. Specifically I don't know how a phase vocoder handles the carrier signal, or if it even uses one.
