The uncontrolled open space in front of Union Station was often the staging area for parades down PA Avenue.
When the fountain was functioning, kids would swim in it. Now that the fountain is empty, homeless people sleep in there. It was featured in a few scenes in "Hannibal" (2001), when the main lobby in Union Station was part of the chase scene.
It should be restored and turned back on, I think.
They should just remove it.
