@StaulkHolm have you seen them live? they are incredible. They do have stuff thats notably BTBAM style, like the blast beats, and something i find that puts alot of people off by them, and my least favourite quality is the guitar tone lol. but w.e to each their own!
If only you paid attention to the song structure that btbam creates across the board, for every instrument.
Between the Buried and Me are a band that you have to be able to look at the big picture for, and actually get a feel for the lyrics as well. Tommy Rogers isn't a lyricist, he's a story teller, and the instrumental support he has behind him to help him portray his stories is absolutely perfect for every feeling that he wants the listener to feel.

I was never a HUGE Abstract fan, but Nocturne was a solid album in my eyes. This albums seems like it won't be quite as good, but still enjoyable. My one beef with this song is the repetitiveness of the guitar part.
I will say that the cover is ugly as sin though. Not that that would affect the quality of the music, of course.

While I can agree that Nathan's voice was unique, from what I've heard so far Travis is a far better singer, and his growls are fucking ferocious. I like the direction this is going.

@TheFeral666 Although I was a bit disappointed with Scurrilous, as well. Didn't feel like they made the album special like they did with Kezia and Fortress. I haven't read the lyrics to it, though, and I know Rody wrote the lyrics for 3/4 of the album.
@deadpisser88 I thought that too at first, but when I listened in-depth to each song, i began to like them all. The guitar parts are definitely the most technical out of any of their albums. The lyrics are pretty deep too; read the lyrics for the song Tandem. Rody wrote that and most of the songs, except for C'est La Vie, Moonlight, and Sex Tapes, which Arif wrote. I think the album overall is the heaviest, despite Rody not screaming for most of it.
@Fatzilla22 I'm a hardcore metalhead and I admit that Scurrilous isn't as heavy as Fortress, but it's way more melodic. It took me several listens to fully respect it, but I now love every single song, as opposed to Fortress, (I wasn't a huge fan of Goddess Gagged).I also play guitar and the guitar parts on the album are on par, if not better, than Fortress'

@IMegalomania ever hear of leaked albums? Scurrilous was leaked in february, quite a few people had the album in it's entirety before the actual release date. Myself included which made me want to go out and buy it as soon as it came out. Loving the vocals on this track btw.
I miss Nathan Ells fersure (minus Midheaven) this is a good album but I feel like he completed it with his voice and style. It seems to me this band is becoming another metalcore band that you can go and find hundreds of these days. Great sound but not what I was wanting.

my take on the band is that after aj left there was a void in creative leadership and nathan tried to fill it. he said the band would stay true to playing metal, and aj didn't want to play it anymore.
Midheaven just came out pretentious and kinda emo to me, and was more rock based. Maybe under a different band i would like it, but as THA it let me down.
I think this is the reason aj came back. just my theory tho. maybe nathan will come back next album :)

Let's face it. Nocturne is one of the best metal albums of the naughties. Midheaven was barely even metal. Midheaven wasn't a bad album so much as it was a huge change of style. Songs like Calm In The Chaos and A Dead World At Sunrise are shite and the rest of the album is average. The closest it gets to really good is Metanoia, A Violent Strike and Counting Down The Days...
People have there own tastes, they can like what they want. They aren't ignorant.

@TheFeral666 Although I was a bit disappointed with Scurrilous, as well. Didn't feel like they made the album special like they did with Kezia and Fortress. I haven't read the lyrics to it, though, and I know Rody wrote the lyrics for 3/4 of the album.

@deadpisser88 I thought that too at first, but when I listened in-depth to each song, i began to like them all. The guitar parts are definitely the most technical out of any of their albums. The lyrics are pretty deep too; read the lyrics for the song Tandem. Rody wrote that and most of the songs, except for C'est La Vie, Moonlight, and Sex Tapes, which Arif wrote. I think the album overall is the heaviest, despite Rody not screaming for most of it.

@Fatzilla22 I'm a hardcore metalhead and I admit that Scurrilous isn't as heavy as Fortress, but it's way more melodic. It took me several listens to fully respect it, but I now love every single song, as opposed to Fortress, (I wasn't a huge fan of Goddess Gagged).I also play guitar and the guitar parts on the album are on par, if not better, than Fortress'

@IMegalomania ever hear of leaked albums? Scurrilous was leaked in february, quite a few people had the album in it's entirety before the actual release date. Myself included which made me want to go out and buy it as soon as it came out. Loving the vocals on this track btw.

I miss Nathan Ells fersure (minus Midheaven) this is a good album but I feel like he completed it with his voice and style. It seems to me this band is becoming another metalcore band that you can go and find hundreds of these days. Great sound but not what I was wanting.

my take on the band is that after aj left there was a void in creative leadership and nathan tried to fill it. he said the band would stay true to playing metal, and aj didn't want to play it anymore.
Midheaven just came out pretentious and kinda emo to me, and was more rock based. Maybe under a different band i would like it, but as THA it let me down.
I think this is the reason aj came back. just my theory tho. maybe nathan will come back next album :)

Was I the only one who actually liked the old singer? His screaming and singing, I actually thought, fit the music better. This guy does it just a good, don't get me wrong, but I like the other guy a little more. :)

Let's face it. Nocturne is one of the best metal albums of the naughties. Midheaven was barely even metal. Midheaven wasn't a bad album so much as it was a huge change of style. Songs like Calm In The Chaos and A Dead World At Sunrise are shite and the rest of the album is average. The closest it gets to really good is Metanoia, A Violent Strike and Counting Down The Days...
People have there own tastes, they can like what they want. They aren't ignorant.

im probably the only person that will say i miss nathan in the band. his lyrics were very creative and his voice had personality that gave the band a distinct sound.
but midheaven did suck.... bad (cept for procession of the fates and a violent strike)
