I'm from Maine and it was great to watch this documentry because it took place in a lot of towns that I've been to before and even one that I live in :)
I watched this online. I really liked the segments with Temple Grandin and Deborah Lipsky. Raising a child with autism is difficult, but it's not impossible. Having a positive outlook and knowing where to get help make the job much easier! I also enjoyed the segments with the families telling their stories about living with an autistic family member. Our kids have a very different way of learning and developing, but it's not something we need to be afraid of!
Hi Oldtimefreedom. "Making Our Way: Autism" is focused on the personal stories of individuals and families dealing with Autism in Maine. There is a segment on the genetic research into developmental brain disorders being done at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine.
@oldtimefreedom they didn't discuss that at all in this documentary, because that was done and over with a long time ago, there is still no known cause
