How do you feel now knowing OBAMA helped lynch black men in Lybia?

Michael Jordan 15 year career, after- a NBA team owner. Kevin Johnson- 15 year NBA career, after- mayor of Sacramento. Emeka Okafor owns a finance degree so he could easily become an accountant when his NBA career ends. The problem is not kids wanting to become pro athletes, the problem is their plans after. Yes work heard with your goal of being a pro athlete, but at the same time, also prepare for after your career is over.

That comment in the end to me is blasting every black kid who dreams to be a pro athlete. As if theres no life after pro sports.

The problem is that there are far too many young guys who dream of being a pro athlete at the expense of acquiring a good education. Jordan, Kevin Johnson and a number of others are a small example of those who used sports and education to move themselves higher. Consider the thousands who are not prime examples like these men.

If 70% of young blacks aspire to be a pro athlete, that's a big problem. Consider what happens to those who did not become pro athletes.

Look at the president, he played HS basketball. Also watch the NCAA commercial where they say how many student- athletes they have and what those who as you say dont make it as a pro and end up being CEOs, doctors, and lawyers for example. Duke just won the NCAA title and I guarentee the players will prosper in the NBA and other careers. Its not a problem if 70% of blacks who want to be pro athletes, its a problem if those 70% dont prepare themselves for after being a pro athlete

It is twofold, as you said, a problem if "70% don't prepare themselves after being a pro athlete" but it is also a big problem on the frontend when youngsters spend more time with a ball in their hands than a book. Pro-athletes makeup far less than one percent of high paid professionals. In other words, most young blacks have a better chance succeeding as an engineer in a variety of categories and other highly needed professions.

thats where parents need to parent. Like I said about my son, yeah I let him play basketball, but I also MAKE him learn how to read. If he chooses not to, he doesnt get to play basketball. education and sports go hand and hand.

My son wants to play in the NBA, I have to prepare him to work hard to be a pro athlete and for when his career ends. To not, I would have failed him as a parent. We should support our black kids who dream of being pro athletes and push them to their goals, but we should also prepare them for after their careers are over so they can be like Kevin Johnson(mayor), Magic Johnson(businessman), Michael Jordan(NBA owner), Hakeem Olajuwon(real estate agent), Tiki Barber(news anchor).

Obama is gradually trying to move up to the most pressing issues pertaining to African Americans. We must apply "intelligent" pressure when required. He just sign an order that allow HIV/AIDS persons to visit or immigrate to the US without a waiver. This hasn't been the case since 1993. Almost all affected by this are black. It took him a year to do this but we should not expect all things to suddenly happen.

First off there really isn't any efficient proof that most cases of HIV happen to be black people. Again your going off statistics & manufactured information. What are the issues of African Americans is he trying to bring fourth to advance? Last time I checked some kid Derrion Albert got killed in Chicago by a 2 by four & him & Michelle said NOTHING.

Blacks who are killing each other need to look within themselves. It's not Michelle's responsibility to say something about every fool who kill someone. Black people have what it takes to fix their challenges, do it.

Yes self accountability is what needs to run rampid through the black community but that can only go so far. Self accountability has not yet gone near as far as it can. Obama and Michelle have spoken often to Black youth and the need for them to get a good education, make right decisions about sex, etc. Yes, power equals influence and there's no better power than the power of the people.

Neither of these are "basically" what you have casually concluded they are. CCR5 Delta 32 is one of two positions where the "agent" mentioned in PL 91-171 attacks, and it almost always attack at this chromosomal position. Virtually, all Black people are positive in this position meaning they have no mutation. However, among the Ashkenazim, up to 30% of them are negative at this position, meaning the virus can't penetrate the cell at this position.

@MalcomAP: I agree with you on Obama sending America into a deeper economic catastrophe, thew reason is he is not Governing, and when people begin to wake up and smell the coffee, and they have no jobs, black people make up 20% of the Unemployed in America, & 47 Million people living in poverty already because Obama is president is not going to change that for those people. US economic situation is dire, and those who were poor anyway things will only get worse. The Debt level has been reached.

By far, the poorest group in the US so happens to be among rural whites. Whites receive far more welfare than blacks. Most blacks are not impoverished, although what the media often presents would lead you to believe this is the case when it isn't.

I never said most blacks were impoverished I said the vast majority of people living in these horrible environments are black. That doesn't mean mostly all blacks are impoverished. And that's a fallacy that rural whites are poor. People CHOOSE to live on the country side some people just don't like big cities. And you got some blacks that live in rural area's as well. And we don't need the media to tell us that the majority of inner city kids are black. When we can see that ourselves.

Ever been to some of the back hill areas of America? People have been in the "country side" for generations, it wasn't about choice. True, not all Blacks live in the innercity. During the Industrial Revolution, millions of blacks moved from rural areas to innercities such as Chicago, Detroit and others to work in the factories.

Most Blacks are middle class and it is true that not all of them live in the innercities. I did not spend the first 12 years of my life in a city but in rural America.
