You'd be surprised how many cowboys exist today. In the West, strangely enough they walk/live like other folks. If you want to discover cowboys learn to ride a horse and associate with people who live/work on ranches. In California, many cowboys are Hispanic and we call them vaqueros. Amazingly enough, it's possible to find living breathing Indians in the US. We call them Native Americans. If you want to discover the remnants of the West then one has to look for it.

@MommiDonni1 You miss the point of the song. Though I agree it didn't have a place in the documentary, it is about coexisting with nature. Cowboys were as wild as the land they lived on, the song is about the suppression of that wilderness and civilization coming to the west. Your definition of a real man saddens me as well, Treadwell defended the defenseless, it takes a certain something to stand up for something, especially like that.
