  • @VictimRattlehead so what.

  • @coolxy2 you didn't understand now did you?

  • @VictimRattlehead klar hab ich's verstanden :P . now let's shut up and enjoy the music.

  • @coolxy2 fine dick.

  • Comment removed

  • damn they looked ugly :D

  • @coolxy2 wow fake fan alert xD

  • haha hey! ugly people often make the better music :D

  • cliff looks like he just woke up from a nap behind the tv screens and junk after smoking alot of weed lol

  • Sounds so weird compared to sanitarium.

  • can anybody post the lyrics to this? it sounds awesome, i just wish i could understand all of it.

  • i wished they released this id jamm to it :D

  • @Zvesda lol Yeah, but James is adourable when he's pissed lol xD

  • this is pretty awesome

  • The way this demo is done reminds me of Rush's "Bytor and the Snow Dog." Like how it has that long interlude in the middle of the song. Very interesting.

  • GOD! James is SO fucking acourable in this pic lol! ;DDD

  • @LadyBritannica

I dunno. He looks more like the "DON'T FUCKING GO NEAR ME" in there.

  • Lars looks pissy in the picture because he isn't rich yet.

  • @MrJacksley lol Prolly xDDD

  • lol there are parts of the orion part you can tell they didnt really know what to do with, especially how to end it. this is a nice look at the creation of songs.

  • Cliff, we miss you

  • /\m/\

  • What a masterpiece this jumbled mess became!

  • woohoo... cliff gone crazy by the end of the song

  • @spiderminus it is genuine

  • I love happening upon rare or unknown music goodies. if this is genuine then thank you soo much

  • esto fue metallica.... buen demo chinga /m/..

  • when riff kicked in i was like "sani- where is it?" xD then i was like "oh yeah orion, --' orio- oh yeah orion doesnt have lyrics" xD

  • Everyone thinks the picture looks like James now, but has anyone realized that in this picture, James looks like a young Alex Lifeson (the guitarist for Rush. Look up "Fly By Night music video" for proof).

  • Does anyone else think the picture behind james looks like james from the future?

  • @darkmanchronicles

Im pretty certain it is Lemmie from Motorhead in his younger days... Metallica has a lot of influence from Motorhead.

  • @darkmanchronicles thats michael shenker behind james

  • @darkmanchronicles I think its Chef Ramsay from that show "Hells Kitchen"

  • does anybody notice a really distinct deep purple feel in the start of orion? it's not quite as noticable on the album version probably due to the production. either way it's still a really cool track and a nice extended version of the amazing interlude to orion.

  • musical knowledge ha not putting down anyone or any thing but if you ask someone even younger like 18 and under some whos older may have and care about musical knowledge of who made what who was the first singer of what but the younger kids most you'll get is i dont know ether the younger kids wasnt given the knowledge or they dont care and thats my point kids dont care even some adults dont care so dont toss out you have no musical knowledge cause we do we as in most people dont give a fuck.

  • you know sad but true backwards says were the best.... but anyway Metallica is the best and this song fucking rocks and it deserves 20 fucking grammies! and a nobel prize and some other shit too!

  • SANITARI...... Oh.... well that ruined the fun

  • i hate when metallica bring religion. i know your christian, but i'm moeslem. you make a barrier for me to like you.

  • S A N I T O R I O N \m/

  • @geometrans xDDDDD

  • im glad they split the songs and changed the lyrics, it sounds alot better. this is awesome though

  • Obviously a demo of Sanatorium.

    Very nice.

  • @ma369rtin

Well, a demo that turned into Sanatorium and Orion.

  • very very good demo

  • Awesome. Interesting demo. Hail old school Metallica.

  • I dig this song.

  • wow 21 people are complete bitches, yes offense

  • kirk has a bad timing lol

  • the second part of the song is longer and therefore WAY BETTER to me anyways.

    MELODIC MADNESS.

  • WOW! The lyrics suck ass. Good thing they changed 'em LOL

  • I love it

  • does anyone know all of thelyrics, cause i want to do a cover of this woth my band but i cant quite understand what hes saying in the begining, i know he says "sacrifice with the golden rod, virgin queen to the new found god"

  • I keep hearing "Welcome to where time stands still"

  • i like these lyrics better :p

  • RIP CLIFF

  • it suppose to sound like that dumbass

  • Sounds like shit

  • @CelestialWoodway no shit its a demo

  • @rickyjshiznit Not all demos sound like shit shithead.

  • i like these lyrics more

  • @Oblivion3200 As do i mate.

  • Can someone write me the lyric of that demo?

  • THis is Sanitarium

  • @RRNYC1998 no its not lyrics or different its wat came before sanitarium u can tell and they took this and made orion and welcome with it

  • This has the same riff as the origonal version of "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" thats on the Things That Should Not Be bootleg.

  • this was recorded in metallica's el cerrito house near oakland, ca.... i grew up around the block from that house in the 80's ... i swear when i go back there i can hear old metallica in the trees from the wind.. 80's metallica is that special to me

  • @rockaz45 I remeber listen to them in the City on 22-24th streets went to a couple parties with them in Paficia and Marin County in the 80's also they where and in my book just as cool. Later dude !

  • A demo of what eventually becomes a released track on an album is not an unreleased track dick!

  • @debdar39

It is if it's not the same song. The vocals are almost completely different.

  • @debdar39 Check towards the end you prick, it's not the same song. Just some of the same riffs.

  • @JonasBye123 Thanks for the comment. It appears to be the track for sure. I am also thinking that perhaps there is a touch of the early garage days feel to it. The production is a slight bit grainy, but I am sure the mixing can rectify that. All in all it seems fine. The only point I make is that the bass is low, but when the lead and rythym guitars are in full flight it is hard to notice anyway.Drumming is okay. This maybe is on pupose as he will nodoubt do a lot more takes before the final cut

  • Does anybody want to be awesome and get me the lyrics to this demo because I have somewhat bad hearing? I will love you. :D

  • Also, I want to learn Cliff's Bass solo in this. It's badass.

  • a perfect example, which would win it all for Iommi, he came up with the most famous riff of all time, can anyone name a riff better than the ironman riff? so stop with all this crap hendrix is the best, Iommi whips him with four less fingers XD, no one can top it

  • A riff better than Iron Man? The Chorus to No Remorse. IMO, blows Iron Man out of the water.

  • @theblackendone iron Man is far from the best riff. Go Listen to falling of the edge of the world that riff alone blasts iron man away completely and Iron Man is without doubt the most overrated Sabbath song from the Ozzy era.

  • @theblackendone I'd say that Smoke On The Water is the most famousw riff of all time. EVERYONE can play it on a guitar

  • @avidmoviefan Yes and EVERYONE plays it wrong.

  • @ChasingFlies

    Not me... I have official tabs! 2 middle strings, and 0 3 5 0 3 6 5 0 3 5 3 0.

  • @mechaghostman2 No that is wrong. It starts on a G power chord. everyone does Open E minor.

  • @ChasingFlies

Well I got my tabs from quote: "The Gretest Guitar SongBook." I don't play it while barring the D & G string together, I play it with an open D power chord. But it says to barr the D & G string together. I power chord it though, sounds better to me.

  • @ChasingFlies

Though when I started off playing the Guitar, I did play it with a G power chord.

  • @mechaghostman2 There's no such thing as Official tabs. I had the Death magnetic and AJFA tab books and I'm absolutely blown away at how parts of the songs are tabbed wrong. Metallica allegedly looked at them, but the tabs are wrong in certain areas. I know how to read tabs, but I prefer not to use them whenever possible.

  • @Darkit2099 lol the drum books sound about the same, theres bits that dont have vital things such as snares, etc xD

  • @Darkit2099 THANKYOU! Someone else who agree's. The tabs are wrong, and it annoys me, not because I can't play the songs, because I can. But instead, I watch videos of them back in the 80's to play the solos, because that is when they were at the top of the game.

I wish there was such a thing as "Metallica live 80's tabs" Because then people would play the songs correctly. I hate some solo covers, because they don't play half the notes lol, making the solo look like shit. ;/

  • if you all are giving jimi so much credit, lets not forget the god who strummed the first dark note, Tony Iommi, as ive preached a few times, we can not compare guitarists of differant time frames, it is not possible, they all built off of eachother, rock and roll itself is traced back to the times of evis, take it as you will, but senority can not declare the best guitarist, thats like naming the greatest frontman of all time, it cant be done

  • I wish this was a song so freakin bad. if it was put on the album, had some little touch ups, it would be great. Only problem would be no Sanitarium or Orion

  • the 80s Metallica was so amazingly epic!

  • I honestly feel sorry for the sad fucks who think Jimi Hendrix is overrated... especially since he was one of the biggest key factor in forming the music you are all listening now. clearly shows that you have no musical knowledge.

  • @Guyverhoeven right on brother

  • @Guyverhoeven i like hendrix but think he is overrated, i think the same is turn for the black album. That dosn't mean i have no musical knowledge.

  • @marc3nnyman No, really, if you think Hendrix was overrated, you clearly are missing a HUGE part of musical knowledge.

  • @OrgasmicPotatoe how, i have listened to all of his shit, and i think he is over rated, everyone says he is so good, but I dont find him that amazin. But that is because im a metal head so there for dimebag= best ever.

  • @marc3nnyman you fail to see that Hendrix was revolutionairy for his time. you are comparing hendrix with Modern day guitar players or guitar players from the 80's,90's guitarplayers who basicly are influenced alot by Jimi Hendrix in the first place.

  • @Guyverhoeven you miss my point hendrix is an amazing guitarest but i think he is over rated because how much every one goes on about him.

  • @marc3nnyman thats no valid reason because he actually is as good as the most important guitarist in forming future music.

  • @marc3nnyman Metal is overrated because way to much people like it.

  • @Guyverhoeven the more the better

  • @marc3nnyman Lol, if you say Hendrix is overrated then you can basicly call EVERYTHING with abit of fame overrated.

  • @Guyverhoeven its not to do with fame, its what i think, i think hendrix is overrated so fucking what?

  • @marc3nnyman Exactly how is he overrated? on what level? how about giving actually a valid reason why he would be overrated. he was one of the more original players of his time who influenced decades of guitar players to come and still does. If he's overrated the whole Metal/Rock genre is overrated.

  • @Guyverhoeven your not making any point to say he is great, i don't think he is great he was just original in what he did. so he is there from a massive influence on music

  • @Guyverhoeven I dont think he was overrated. He was incredibly important for the formation of rock guitar as we know it. I mean, technique wise, he wasn't in the same league as Yngwie or Randy Rhoads etc, but that wasn't the point. Without Jimi, I doubt Yngwie, Randy, EVH would have ever come along in the form they did. He brought the guitar to the front of the band. :-)

  • @skezza Thats exactly what im trying to say, everybodie is judging guitarists on technique here and does not keep in mind with the year the guitarists lived in.

  • @Guyverhoeven Hendrix overrated? Since when?

  • @Pbirv Since never.

The only place he's overrated is in the minds of idiots.

  • @Guyverhoeven Jimmy Hendrix IS overrated

I'm not saying he is not good, he is one of the best guitarrists that ever walked this earth BUT ppl give him too much credit

  • @666ThrashManiac Jimi Hendrix is not overrated unless where talking about technique then yes he is overrated because lots of people act like his stuff is insanely hard to play.

But Jimmi Hendrix is not overated. Nearly all your music is ultimately based on his playing. He trully deserves all the credit for what he has done to music.

Metallica is like 50 times as overrated as Hendrix anyway.

I THINK that you can't call great musicians like Hendrix or Beethoven overated.

  • @Guyverhoeven So if i think that Jimi Hendrix tracks and solo arent anything really amazing, that means i have no musical knowledge? Good to know

  • @SSSoM3 No, if you deny that Jimi Hendrix's music is orignal and revolutionary for his time and responsible for the creation of all the music that followed including Metallica.

Still id guess you have no real musical knowledge looking at the ignorant way you put up your comment.

  • @Guyverhoeven Ignorant way of putting a comment? Because your first post wasnt ignorant in any possible way mate.... I just fight fire with fire

  • @SSSoM3 yes, your comment was put verry ignorant and hostile, Mine isnt ignorant. If you trully can't recognize Jimi Hendrix's major contribution to music then your ignorant and clueless. But more likely clueless actually.

heck the only reason your replying to my comment is because its thumbed to the top. Lets ask ourselves why is that? because what i say is the truth perhaps?

Grow up kid and get some decent musical education before acting like you know a shit about music.

  • @SSSoM3 Your not fighting fiore with fire at all.

You dont even know what your talking about.

Go educate yourself before acting like you know something about music you clueless little child.

  • @Guyverhoeven Not only you're being ignorant, not only you don't know how to write fire, you are even trying to offend me, to show me what worthless worm i am compareed to mighy oh'Guyverhoeven. I think you need to calm down, sir. Its just internet buddy.

  • @SSSoM3 Im not offending anybody im just stating the obious and i can assure you, i am calm in fact it took me 10 seconds to write this current comment and go back to watching some documentairy.

  • @Guyverhoeven I dont know what the hell that obious is and terms like "clueless little child" "sad fucks" are in my humble opinion offending to say at least. But hey, whatever. Just open your mind sometimes.

  • @SSSoM3 Obious = obvious, its a simple typo. sorry if your brain can't comprehend that.

And taking offense is subjective, I could care less that your butthurt about my use of words but its just the obvious, you still have nothing valid to say about the original subject in the first place. So unless your only here to cry on about spelling or ''BAD WORDS'' please stop wasting my time.

  • @Guyverhoeven Well, it was you who continued this discussion in this direction. Well, i'm not saying that Hendrix is overrated, im just saying that i never really liked his solos, songs, his style. Maybe it's because i never really plunged into his output, but its stays as it is right now. But seeing that you wont change your negative and childish attitude i think further conversation is pointless.

  • @SSSoM3 Okay you started drama and did not even made one valid statement in reaction to the original subject?

    Who's calling who childish?

    How ironic.......

  • @Guyverhoeven

    But he was a nigger.

  • @TopTenCrew Oh my god you are so funny!

    Go back playing Runescape...

  • @TopTenCrew really dude

  • @Guyverhoeven find me these people i must call them out, i love heavy metal but how is the best guitarist in the world overrated

  • james looks like poser on this picture

  • Fuck as I watch that photo and listen to that masterpiece I want to go back to these days and live then.

  • Where did you get this picture!? You HAVE to send this to me or something. lmao

  • "Sacrificed with the golden rod, virgin queens are the newfound god."

My god, the original lyrics are like cocaine to my ears! They should've remained.

On a searate note, if Metallica ever release a CD of ALL their unreleased tracks throughout their entire recording history, including all their demo tracks, the disc would outsell the fucking bible!!! That would surely make my balls twitch.

  • This could had been a killer song. But I'm happy with Sanatarium and Orion though :)

  • this is fail attempt at removing hiss id rather have heard the hiss but good find though

  • i need mp3s of these demos

  • This version is awesome. Love it. Sanitorion orgasm haha good 1.

  • @MegaManowarrior and dave and metallica are good friends now cause they grew up and stopped being little bitches and that's why we have the big four so stop hating on metallica cause metallica never hated on you. and they will always be "BETTER THAN YOU" because You It's "SAD BUT TRUE"

  • @MegaManowarrior Your kinda stupid there both good guitarist's and honestly dave needs to expand his singular style of guitar which is just straight thrash, kirk has a much more well rounded and wide variety in his work with a blues influenced style kinda like jimi hendrix but dave has his own style that he hasn't really expanded on and there both good bands megadeth and metallica but the only reason that you hate on metallica is because dave was in metallica and dave hated metallica so stfu

  • may god bless kirk cliff james and lars... without old metallica i'd be lost in my life

  • has anyone got the lyrics to this

  • doesnt that picture behind james look like him in the future?

  • @KingNothingify WOW! haha it fu*king does! btw its awesome how it has diferent lyrics

  • @los4menzos ikr. it is. but seriously. someone needs show james hetfield that picture. this is crazy lol

  • doesnt even sound like james singing

  • These riffs themselves, used in sanitarium are copied from "Rainbow warrior" by Bleak House. Check it out for yourself

  • @dantehun

Man I thought I was the only one who thought that

  • idk how slash got brought up but heres my opinion. he sucks...and then he really REALLY sucks when compared to metallica

  • I could barely hear the bass solo at 7:58

  • @omnipotent1995 that's the whole point, I think.

  • @basslegend14 k well chinese democracy doesnt have slash on it. thats why the cd sucks

  • @keystonelight1992 b'aww fanboy fag alert. Slash isn't that great a guitarist bro.

  • @SinoMorior right.....

  • @basslegend14 settle down there fanboy

  • FUCKING ORGASM!!!

  • @basslegend14 slash is a god. hendrix blows

  • Man, that pad looks perfect to crack a beer open at.

  • I need the lyrics

  • Comment removed

  • Is it just me, or does it kind of seem like Metallica had a lot of influence on 90s and modern grunge? Just an idea. Anyway this demo is like gold for any true tallica fan.

  • is the only thing(8) Fuck man!! it´s great, but uh sanitarium is much better..

    ´Tallica rulez.....

  • This is great!!! I love obscure Metallica songs from back in the day.

  • aaahhhh the timing...soooo horrible, kirk fucked up, haha ;D

    gotta love metallica!

  • this is amazing!! XD

  • i had the urge to shit my pants at 00:24

  • hahahaaha......the lyrics are sooooooooooo different compared to the finished version

  • JUST FUCKING IMAGINE CLIFF AND RANDY RHOADS IN THE SAME BAND WWOOOOOWWW.. i mean 80s metallica is my favorite but godam the best have to die. listen to randy's solos on youtube and then cliffs solos you'll see what i mean

  • does anyone know about the unreleased demo from the early days w lars beatboxing and james and kirk trying new riffs and unreleased demo's !!!! please someone tell me what to search for. it was on youtube for a little then they removed it ... someone help

  • Why did cliff had to die ?

  • @klb2000000 Cause God wanted Cliff to teach him how to shred on bass.

  • thats obviously hetfield singing, u can tell when its hetfield or not. he has that very distinct voice. and if th
