In 1988-89 I worked as an engineering consultant on the x-30 engine as a senior draftsman in charge of one of the design teams on the cooling baffles. It was put on hold shortly after the Soviet Union fell apart and within a few weeks we were told to package up all of our notes and designs and were shortly after that all laid off. I just wish that instead of spending all the money that the U.S. has spent on Iraq and Afganistan that we would have kept working on this. Giving mankind a future.
It's sad how this never happened. I think that as time goes by, aircraft technology isn't advancing anymore. I even think part of it is becoming LESS advanced, because we retired some amazing aircraft like the Concorde and the SR-71 Blackbird.
@jag9998 maybe they didnt, pait it black and you have the araura spyplane....and if your e wondering how it would be paid for there is trillions unaccounted for in us military spending.
@andresrodrigoescobar It's a single stage to orbit vehicle. It means you don't need to attach any rockets to it - you just fuel it up, and its ready to go to orbit. Just as simple as that.
It's like a plane that flies into space - hence its called a space plane
@andresrodrigoescobar The X 30 was to be propelled by a scramjet; that is, a ramjet that operates by letting air flow through it at supersonic speed. A ramjet basically is a specially shaped duct that compresses incoming air while the aircraft is moving. Fuel is injected into the compressed airstream and it ignites. The rear of the duct allows the exhaust to expand and leave the engine producing thrust.

If the government would just stop cancelling stuff then the humen race would be kicking ass and taking names from a technological standpoint.

Thank God, we don't have money for things like this.

@theyalllied we need to do things like this.
7 billion people on Earth, we need to get to other solar systems to colonize planets. due to over populations.
or we need to limit each person 1 child lke china did or 2 childern.
The space shuttle program has kept us back for 30 years. private business would do this better.
Earth can no longer support all of us
