If you're 70 in the first place, what makes you so sure you're going to live long enough, even if you don't die from complications, to be able to raise this child into an adult? If you're expected to live until 77 or so, you're going to have an 7 or 8 year old kid with no mom, and there's no way in Hell you've got a living grandparent to take up the reins.

@OsirisLord In India it's not so much about quantity of children but sex of children... So if they have a girl or 2, the woman will be blamed automatically. And they doN,t want just the one son either, they would of course prefer to have many. And it is also perceived as a financial burden to have girls because they have to pay a dowry...Which is like paying someone to take your daughter in some families... Husband's family actually negotiate the terms sometimes... Women are a commodity, sadly:(
