  • I've always found the Pompeii version to be too flashy in comparison to this - but then again the Pompeii version WAS recorded in a studio in France ; )

  • This how it sounded live more often than not. You didn't rush to put Led Zep on after this. It was best left till last when your mates came round to listen to this on your crap 1970 stereo because anything else after it sounded mundane. My highpoint of seeing bands in that era was seeing Floyd with the lovely Barbara Wesoley and the not so lovely Mark Fooks at the Imperial College, about June 1970 I think. All youth is lost forever. Shame there is no god.

  • the intro is the outro of dream theater's octavarium.

  • @xXTiberiusXx false. the outro of DT's Octavarium is the intro to this.

  • @ajramsay45 gosh i didn't mean it that way. i mean = sign not like they stole it. sigh. good job. you win. -.-

  • This song scared the shit out of me when I first heard it when I was 14. I had headphones on and was in bed at night.

  • @braddyboy82 I was much more taken with the version at Pompei when I was 15!

  • @braddyboy82 What about Echoes?

  • @braddyboy82 I'm 14 now and I've grown u listening to pink floyd with my dad so their music has brought me and my dad closer

  • I think the Live in Pompeii version is better

  • In Soviet Russia that axe is careful with Eugene...

  • I don't think there's a definition of what is a "true" Floydian. Pink Floyd is my favorite band (my reason to live?) and I like Roger much better than Gilmour or Barrett. But you're right, there's no comparaison to make between the musicians, but between the periods. I do prefer the Waters period (Atom Heart Mother to The Wall). Pink Floyd has evolved so much, it's completely normal to choose one oh these evolutions. But please don't make confusion between musicians and periods.

  • @myarade02...I like Roger better as well....I always thought there was much more pain in Roger Waters that always struck more of a chord with me. Gilmour always had this smooth haunting mystery to him that I love just as well..But for me when Roger stepped up...that was their wings spread wide.

  • Syd wasnt any better than gilmour. Gilmour no better than rogers , rogers no better than masson mason no beter than wright . If you are a true Floydian you Love all of them Equally.

  • @Beerfornothing If you're true Floydian you write they're names right

  • @martin2sax If you're truly literate; you distinguish between their* and they're.

  • @Beerfornothing I say that you are wright, I mean, correct!

  • Happy birthday Syd <3

  • Rodger Water's finest scream!

  • chido

  • I believe thats sid not Rog ,wish u well mellow mate

  • Comment removed

  • @JoAnnbluepalmer Syd was already gone by Ummagumma (unfortunately).....have a good day

  • One of those amazing things that pop up in this world. Starts out mellow, then things become a little more groovy as the song sucks you in until you are entirely engulfed. Then comes Roger screaming like you've never heard! It's terrifying, but you find it thrilling! You don't know what to do, but there's no worry. Because all there is to do, is sit back an enjoy this wonder

  • @KTMONEY100 Oooh, that screaming. Scares the willies out of me. ><

  • @deaded1234 I think Eugene was not being careful at that point...

  • FLOOOOYD IS MY LSD!

  • this is so scary and creepy.i feel like someone is being tortured in the next room.great song.

  • fuck love this fucking songgg

  • MY OPIGNION THE BEST OF PINK FLOYD **************55555555 BRAVO

  • Look people, don't feed the troll which is hellchild65. Just enjoy the music which is presented by Pink Floyd.

    Thanks.

  • .................

  • ps try some punctuation, grammar and proofreading for these comments please

  • yeah, skip the drugs - totally unnecessary with YouTube

  • so many people smoking weed, lol and they wonder why this planets become full of idiots. great song tho

  • @hellchild65 No its because of people like you that this planet is full of idiots

  • @Stormcharger oh great comeback....

  • @hellchild65 It wasn't a comeback it was a fact

  • @Stormcharger lol, so someone that has all their braincells is a problem with the world as opposed to people who do not, ill have to remember that one...

  • @hellchild65 Well thats cool cause weed doesn't kill brain cells so I said nothing of the sort

  • @Stormcharger are you kidding? yes it does if you smoke it for years and years. Weed is worse then Cigarettes buddy.

  • @hellchild65 Im pretty sure you are a troll, but if not please look at the wikipedia page called "List of misconceptions about illegal drugs" which says that marijuana does not kill brain cells.

  • @Stormcharger yes because wikipedia knows more then someone with a Dr.s apparently, it causes brain damage, thats a proven fact

  • @hellchild65 "Oh, look at me. I have a Dr.s" You mean a doctorate degree, you fucking dumbass. And you haven't even specified what kind of doctorate degree. An MD might qualify you to talk on this topic in this way. A PHD wouldn't necessarily. Furthermore, all a doctorate proves is that you've gone to a university and passed a few classes. It doesn't prove you actually know what you're talking about. A high school dropout can learn all things an MD or PHD knows from READING.

  • @hellchild65

You talk crap. That myth has been disproved time after time.

  • @metafis Oh look, here you are yappin at someone else.Get a fuckin life ya pathetic troll

  • @toobularbells How was his comment trolling

  • @hellchild65 PROVEN: Cigarettes cause cancer.

    PROVEN: Marijuana helps cure cancer.

    Enough said.

  • @martmt87 it slows the progression rate of cancer, but unfortunatly does nothing to cure it.

  • @RazorHeadMetal hence "helps cure cancer" not "cures cancer." Slowing the progression rate of cancer gives more time to cure it, hence helping cure cancer.

  • @martmt87 Weed causes 2 forms of cancer you idiot, wow lol get your facts straight

  • @hellchild65 do you have any sources for that statement?

  • @TheEvilelvis89 You just described my day! Pink Floyd was added to the mix a bit later than it ought to have been, but saved my sanity all the same.

  • @195511SM I wish my parents were like you.

  • This is literally how I felt recently when I hadn't slept at all and I had to go to into work. Being so rundown with NO energy it was the worst feeling I've ever had coupled with some acute anxiety and depression thrown in.

So to summarize: THIS is why PINK FLOYD are fucking brilliant. Because it's music you can connect to.

  • 1969

  • on the Ummagumma LP cover you can see "a saucerful of secrets" LP cover in the centre of the infinite mirror

  • I THINK THE ACID TRIPS MADE THEM BETTER!

  • @sabbathfreak1 of cours they will xD

  • @sabbathfreak1 NO, THATS ABSOLUTELY AN ACCESORY. MUSIC CAN TAKE YOU HIGER

  • Wow.. I like it..

  • I think I won't listen to this before going to bed.

  • SO WEIRD!

  • Spring this one on a friend { thru headphones} and see if they're still friendly afterwards

  • Was this Waters' attempt at Barrett's Interstellar Overdrive?

  • @IIty2iII yes

  • @Youtubador2 Because you're high

  • This song recorded for movie Zabriskie Point (Michelangelo Antonioni) in march-may 1968.

I was born in same time and yes - my name is Eugene ;-)

  • thuis thing (song) is CREEPPPYYYYY

  • A bowl of weed+3rd plateau DXM trip+this song over and over again= being on a different planet

  • Some of the best meltdown music ever performed. The scream still gives me chills after all these years!

  • Prelude to "One of these Days"

  • @mersk100 i think you mean a sequel, this is more of the sequel. One of These Days talks about wanting to cut you up into little pieces, this one actually does it

  • @JATO457 From that "fictional" aspect I suppose so, though that was not what I meant. :)

  • this is like.........live. ( I choice my words )

I right this besauce, i can't choice the words I loved. This is the end.

  • O quê qui é isso??

    Incrível obraprima.

Gênios, naturalmente em seus afazeres. Pra eles isso parece muito fácil.

  • Its like a delicious mix of jazz, rock and the year 2067

  • ,,you forgot Jim Morrison !

  • That`s the floydest Pink I`d ever heard.......

  • These guys were simply in another league

  • 4:30 PinkFloyd traveled 40 years in the future and came back in 3 seconds

  • The fact that they were doing this in the late 60's is just incredible to me.

  • I NO NEED NO DRUGS AROUND ME , ALL I NEED IS FLOYD TO CALM ME !

  • probably the most orgasmic PF song to do at a gig; the scream never fails to scare the shit out of someone :)

  • Thee Original Mad Geniuses......Any true Floyd Fan can appreciate this....

  • AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

  • I remember this album as a kid. We would ask for the scream record.

Just sort of fell in a trance, waiting, then the scream would rip out and we'd laugh and laugh, sure the neighbors were being freaked out.

  • This song driving through mountains in West Virginia at sunset... holy shit.

  • Este tema es uno de los que mejor definen la música y la calidad de una de las mejores bandas de rock de todos los tiempos, Pink Floyd.

    tony.

  • I liked PF when I heard Atom Heart Mother... but when Ummagumma came out... and I heard this.... I was forever entwined with them - even now, on my 57th birthday, they still enthrall me...

  • @Skiborebop Didn't Ummagumma come out before Atom Heart Mother?...

  • @jonnayyy - you're right - I meant Saucerful of Secrets - My bad !

  • @jonnayyy Yes.

  • @Skiborebop haha you remind me of my dad, he also discovered PF through Atom Mother Heart! Naturally I'm a big fan of PF as well..

  • cannot describe this masterpiece in words

  • Ummagumma is the best

  • This song gave me 'Nam flashbacks...Totten-NAM....UK...

  • @MrMymanalishi I bet they lost!

  • When Eugene came at me with an axe I vaporized him by thought alone

  • the live version of this song is scarey as fuck..roger walters can be a scarey man sometimes haha

  • I bought this album back in the late 1970s....on cassette. I was still pretty unfamiliar with anything other than DSOTM.....and probably thought this Ummagumma was just a bit TOO weird...even for MY tastes. Now at age 56....with some good headphones & a nice bowl of weed.....I'm startin' to like it.

  • @195511SM Man I've always wanted a cool gramps that listens to good shit.

  • @195511SM i wasn't born yet when pink floyd released this masterpiece, but at the age of 15 it made me know and like weed

  • @herbert71100 Im 15, we share alot in common from the sound of things haha

  • @195511SM You took so freaking long, this should be love at first mad sight

  • @195511SM thats cuzzz pink floyd wazzz wayyyyyyy ahead of their time!

  • @195511SM ..better late than never I suppose.

  • @195511SM For sure! lol....

  • @195511SM Cool comment sir :P You hardly HEAR about 'older' people smoking weed (no offense lol!!!) so I get the ignorant view that it's only youngsters smoking the good stuff :) Nice tho!

  • @88Cortex I blaze with older people all the time, its better cause they have more money and shout you heaps of weed :D

  • @Stormcharger lol that made my day < : D

  • @195511SM good!!! pink floyd are awesome!!!

  • @195511SM Maroccan will do just fine as well, I can personally tell you ;-)

  • supper goed Bram

  • I felt like Eugene hit my brain with that axe after this track blew my mind!

  • Roger Waters isn't screaming so much as "inward screaming", by inhaling in a strange gasping manner.

  • 1970 ohne führerschein durch heidelberg. so geil....

  • i didnt really get in2 umagumma

  • masterpiece man -___-

  • This track is like an orgasm....it builds up, sucking you in, deeper and deeper, it builds stronger and stronger, till that chilling haunting climax in the end.. it is a masterpiece.. who else but PINK FLOYD!

  • this track is an enigma to progressive rock, experimental rock, and rock that doesn't follow a typical verse chorus and verse

  • @enzo2enzo2enzo Why an enigma? == mystery.

  • Roger Waters expressed several times his discontent about the live album of Ummagumma. He was wrong. Proof with this haunting track!

  • the whole album is just one long trip

  • i did hear this song high, and when i heard the scream i felt a deep panic, i whas incredible.

  • this song gave me 'Nam flashbacks...

  • just a fuckin eargasm

  • 3:07 = best scream ever

  • one of the few bands i never ever get tired of.

  • That scream gives me goosebumps, every damn time!

  • This song was based on a murder in London, right?

  • @megadethifyify no, the axe refers to a guitar

  • @WhiteHat88 What do you mean?

  • @JugsForHanukkah "axe" is a common nickname for guitar. it's a play on the words.

  • @WhiteHat88 if you claim that axe refers to the guitar so tell me - who is eugene with that `axe` ?

  • @Tuovoq uhhh, no one knows? it's fucking pink floyd, it's supposed to be cryptic. not every song has a detailed (and true) story behind it, with totally understandable and comprehendible lyrics, some things are better left to the imagination. but, eugene is obviously the person who is playing the guitar... was that so hard to figure out?

  • @Tuovoq Eugene was said to be the band's roadie

  • Pretty fucking good scream for a live recording

  • How I miss Floyd & the other prog-rock-space-rock groups. Made for movies by obscure Italian directors. And the moneymen took chances & actually may have made money. Pink Floyd did later on.

  • I KNEW IT WAS COMING, but that shit scares me everytime.

  • lol. Ummagumma!

  • Eugene, you idiot... He warned you.

  • I like to play drums on this one. Terrible.

  • Better screaming than heavy metal!

  • Almost there, just about two more minutes. I'm educating myself in this bizarre music, so I can make fun of it of course. I mean I gave it a chance. Rather disturbing that scream was. Really, do you need to be on drugs to enjoy this sort of music? I like instrumental pieces but shocking screams, what's up with that. And damn, I thought this was the studio version. Good scream for a live performance. I didn't know that Ummagumma was a live record. I don't know SHIT about Pink Floyd.

  • @JaminRebel I reaaaly hope you're trolling. -.-

  • @JaminRebel Hahaha, you're fucking joking right?

  • @JaminRebel metaphor man metaphor, drags on spliff

  • maybe their best song!?

  • it's the first time that i heard this song, no words can describe what i felt.

  • @rodrigo1nl me too!

  • @rodrigo1nl

    Work on your vocabulary!

  • @rodrigo1nl Brown pants.

  • @rodrigo1nl ACID?

  • Aww he done it again

  • From years ago and just as good now.

  • roger.is.sexy

  • fuckin eargasm
