  • His Aikido style was beautiful.

  • He will be remembered.

THere are a lot of videos of him and his followers, but There should be more.

  • excellent video. More videos would be nice. Of his students too.

  • I remember Kanai Sensei as a demanding, but kind teacher with a good sense of humor.

I moved to NY in 1989, but I still have a lot of very fond memories of that school.

  • I practiced at NE Aikido with Kanai Sensei in the late 1980's for about a year. He was a great teacher - as is David, Barbara, and many of the others there.

  • Was @ seminar of Yamada-Sensei & Kanai-Sensei. In last hour, was doing iriminage w/Claude Bethiaume. If u don't know, he was Kanai-Sensei's closest disciple. Like grabbing the Tilt-A-Whirl @ carnival!!! Attack and pray u hit mat very soon. Sensei came & told Claude get ready 2 go. As Cluade headed 4 changing room, Sensei leaned 2 me & said, "I save your life?"

  • Awesome! :)

  • Kanai-Sensei is missed by all who knew him. He was as gentle as his Aikido was powerful. The 2 were in perfect balance. He was always so nice to me. If I feel such a sense of loss, I can't imagine how difficult his loss must be for his closest students, like David Halprin, Bob Zimmermann, Claude Berthiaume and many others.

  • I have watched this video many times and I'm am still in awe.

  • I was a student an New England Aikikai. Japanese are very paramilitary. I had several instructors, but never having tested for a dan or kyu rank, Kanai never said two words to me. I loved that school.

  • KANAI sensei.. rocks!!.. David halprin Rocks too! :D

  • Thank You for the video. His teachings live on and are still much appreciated and practiced

  • Kanai Sensei was the youngest of Ueshiba's in house students. I believe that he was a judo nidan before Aikido, and he also was an iaido master. This is the real deal. Do you have any more?

  • Check also Yeshua-do Christian Martial Arts; the one of his former students presents 3 video-clips.

  • wow!

  • excellent video. It's a shame that i couldn't met him in person when he was alive

  • Truely masterful!!

  • A true master. Period.
