  • I had similar issue which is why I am here. (and I work at an ISP and help people every day with similar things) To fix this, try:

    A) swapping out your ethernet cable's (one by one to identify if there is a problem cable... remember - there are 8 tiny and fragile wire's inside those cables, and even though your internet may work, there could still be a damaged wire inside causing a problem.)

    B) try a different port on your router

    C) replace your router

    D) replace your ethernet adapter(s)

  • I had this problem for a while and it was so annoying.

I tried everything but THIS fixed it for me and now I'm blazing !

  • Hello mate, are you copying files between XP and Vista or Vista to Vista etc? How long is the cable between your switch and PC? Have you made sure the FTP port and file sharing has been allowed in your firewall on your PC and or router? Have you got QOS turned on or off? Have you used the performance manager in Vista to check if the transmission is erroring? Hell fire that is slow mate and usually transfer rates that slow are due to the data be blocked or erroring.

  • @BigtimeJimmy21 Sorted :)

  • @BigtimeJimmy21

I have spent days trying everything in the video (and more) ...Your post made me double check the QOS setting on my hub (a wrt54g running tomato in hub mode) ...It was on; turning it off stepped my "win7->other" transfers from 24K/s to 4.4M/s ...now to disable TCP Vegas and undo all (?unnecessary?) the tweaks I have made to my system [wish me luck]

  • @csbluechip Well good luck :-) i'm glad it helped. It's trial and error sometimes. Boy are they annoying when you can't think of anything else..
