  • I actually like playing the black and white model as well. I take it to work and play on my breaks :)

  • I have one, pretty much mint, in the same blue colour as you, with original box, manuals and a game with the HMV sticker still on it, it's one of my most prised consoles in my collection :)

  • I just bought one for $70 on ebay with 6 games, is this a good price? The games were pac-man, Samurai showdown 2, king of fighters r2, fatal fury contact, neo turf masters and metal slug 1st mission.

  • @ScratchMasterWebbe thats good, if you dont have sonic pocket then GET IT!!! cool game

  • I'm getting one for christmas! Thanks for the video man! Im gonna start doing videos like this soon as well :)

  • i have two of its games but not the player. i plan on getting one soon.

my gandma was cleaning her closet and had sonic pocket adventurers, some other game, tekken 4, and dbz gokus legacy.

  • I love it!!!

  • i though this was 8-bit same with intellivision

  • @SuperSkullz Nope. It is a 16-bit handheld, as is the Wonderswan Color.

  • Where did you get the games & NGPC? I might see about getting this, since I never did grow up playing that handheld T_T

  • 65.95??

    thats pretty damn cheap!!!

  • @yoshinosakura I think he said it was $69.95, not $65.95. Still, that is really cheap.

A couple things I should include-- only 85 games were released for this system (way too small!), which managed to sell about two million units.

  • my collection is suprem over yours have over 15 games all in their boxes and

10 new seal in plastic .

  • CR2032?

  • what is his intro song from?

  • @seganerd89 the american sega cd start-up tune

  • boring intro

  • I have it of the same color :)

  • I remembe I had one of these when I was 5 or 6. It was frickin awesome

  • It was a portable system dumbass

  • Yeah the Game Boy color that came out around the same time is only 8-bit!

  • i had the stone blue and the camo blue, but the stone blue one died so i only got the camo one now

  • lol wow, i had that exact color, the blue camo. brings back good memories.

  • nvm my last comment

  • wheres the arrow keys

  • I have the same blue colour Neogeo pocket as you :).

It's surprised me how good the games are. At first i picked up some fairly randomly from the few left (Biomotor unitron, King of fighters r2) and was really happy.

Then i picked up Neogeo cup, Sonic pocket adventure and Card fighters clash.

Considering there is only about 40 games for it i think there are some real gems.

  • lol i have the blue one

  • I finally got my Neo-Geo Pocket Color about a month ago, and it is an awesome little handheld-- it's my favorite of all non-Nintendo handhelds. And it came with ten games: Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure Pac-Man Samurai Showdown 2 Metal Slug: 1st Mission Dark Arms Dive Alert Fatal Fury: F-Contact The King of Fighters: Round 2 Neo Turf Masters Puzzle Link 2
  • dang thats a good deal how much did you pay?

  • About $130 US, IIRC.

  • i got a ngp metal slug 1 and 2 and snk vs capcom motm for $50

  • Hmm, so you too bought that Pocket Arcade Bundle eh? Great deal imo, although mine came with Pocket Tennis, Metal Slug 2nd Mission and Card Fighters Clash (Capcom) instead of Puzzle Link 2, Sonic and Dive Alert.

  • maybe it means like modern new games for the new world or something

  • I wonder why SNK thought the NGPC needed an AC adapter... I mean those x2 AA batteries lasts FOREVER heh. I would play 2+ hours a day when I commuted via train to and from work and I'd replace the batteries every couple of weeks heh IF THAT.

    Awesome vid btw

  • best game on ngpc is snk vs capcom: motm

  • New World games? Makes sense to me!

  • i got 2 of these one of them came with 6 games

  • I got the light blue neogeo pocket.

  • I'm buying a ngpc because of this review. And because sonic is on it :D

  • Just be wary that people sell thier Neo Geos in atrocious conditions.. I've bought three of Ebay - two with badly scratched screens, one with a duff button :( Pisses me off how people can't look after thier stuff and THEN won't be honest about the condition!

  • ehh good thing I lost the auction then.

  • lol epic win

  • This would be my favourite hand-held console if only it was backlit!

And I'm too scared of sending my precious neo geo pocket colour to a dodgy dealer to get it backlit.

  • Cool

  • SGC WHOO

  • sgc :D

  • I think both the Neo-Geo Pocket (B&W and color versions) is probably the most underrated handheld ever made, IMHO.

  • (meant to say "I think the Neo-Geo Pocket...", not "I think both the Neo-Geo Pocket...", sorry. :-))

Still, it's a great handheld. I'd like to try this handheld out someday, even if it's not as popular as the Game Boy Color.

  • I still have mine. I bought the silver that came with a Sonic game, and also the Ocean blue unit. Then I read in 2000/2001 they were being recalled by SNK... but I still saw them around in 2003 in a department store.

  • I love the NGPC, great lineup of first party titles. I'm happy to be able to say I scored mine with six games for ten dollars. I have a video showing them off. :D

  • I got a NeoGeo pocket like 6 months ago and can't put it down! Excellent reviews by the way.

  • Its box is similar to the way that some intellivion games use to come.

  • cool I got this too, projectreality64 told me to.

  • Heheh that clicking joystick would get annoying after a while "click click clickkk"

  • Yeah it does actually.

  • at a video game store i go to they have one of these for sale.if i really was into snk i might get it but its pretty expensive

  • Are you Talk Abort Sonic On Neo Geo Pocket Color?

  • Yep. more than just talk about it actually!

  • I found one of these in 2003 bundles with 4 games at EB. You could also buy an additional bundle pack with 6 games. Sweet system!!

  • Excellent review

  • Actually, the NGPC was marginally successful in the US but failed miserably in Japan where it was also competing against the Wonderswan.

  • Oh thats interesting. They say in the year it was out it did better than the Sega Game Gear and Atari Lynx in their first year. It was off to a decent start considering it was up against a new color Gameboy.

  • your vids are nice man, always well thought out. I appreciate that.

  • Thanks! I love doing them too!

  • Cool system I 1st saw it in 1998 in a Video Game Mag I use to get and really wanted one but never enough cash. You shoud get Sonic Pocket Adventure if you can btw.

  • Nice, I picked up one of these a month ago. It is one of my favorite handhelds. I just need more games for it. And I have to mention the screen is VERY GOOD for not being backlit. Highly reccomended for fans of snk or just any gamer atracted to it's appeal.

  • it is a good screen considering its not backlit. The system overall is really well built.

  • Far better than the gameboy color and gameboy advance. Not as big but still very reflective.

  • OMG! I just got one of these the other day too! What an awesome coincidence!

  • Ok, you did surprise me. Did you pick those up at Game Stop or....? Where ever you got them it's a nice addition. I have both of those same colors lol. Used to have the silver one but it died on me. The same stic can be found on the neo-geo cd controler as well. It is comfortable but the switches have a tendancy to die with the fighting games. The fighters really do wear the piss out of those switches :)

  • That battery real time data must be helpful, i took out the battery on the Nintendo DS and all my times and settings reset. Nice Video Though =D

  • Great vid'

Such a great handheld & nearly every game was good, it's a shame it died out, SONIC and FASALI were great on it, I also had a link cable to connect it to the Dreamcast which worked with MATCH OF THE MILLENIUM(NGP) & KING OF FIGHTERS 99(DC) but I regretably sold it all.

  • Same here, used to link them up and loved it.. Sold the lot stupidly.. Oh well, have bought a NG pocket with a few games (inc match of the millenium), well worth it even if it is a little scratched up.

  • very nice pickup you got there i actually own all the color had a friend who had a game store that were not selling well so he cut the price down to 25 dollars a pop so i bought 1 of each color i like it better then the game boy the games looked better i also remember when eb games were selling these in a pack with 4 games for 19.99 way back in the day it was a way for neo geo to move there over stock of games you just didnt get the game case still a good deal great video keep up the good work
