I thought I could not be surprised any more by "new flamenco" players. Now I realise just how wrong I was. Thank you very much for sharing. This is masterful!!!
So profound and beautiful. I love rock and jazz and everything in between but flamenco guitar players are the true and most pure artists of the guitar. Thank god for music.
he never sound exciting live than his recordings.i assume he relies a lot on studio technics more than moraito chico or tomatito.very disappointed with his solos.
Since he was a boy, he has done this with the guitar, like Paco. His main and foremost teacher was Manolo Sanlucar, who is very classical, but Vicente plays more flamenco puro!
@armandorms Musically they cant compare, i agree, cause they're different, but technically modern flamenco is harder to play BY FAR than most of classical tunes. Did you know where the flamenco came from? its a fussion between spanish music and arabian (Mora) music (710 after christ), it has very old roots. Musically are different (no one is better) but technically flamenco requires more skill, obviously Vicente would never say that because some people get offended just like you. Saludos
I've watched this video many many times, and every single time I hear those first notes my hole body relaxes and I fell his music touching my soul and twisting my belly all around the world!!
I do love the subdued melody in the song, but I often find the flamenco runs in the song to overcome the presentation. And though I know this is how the song is presented(not trying to change it), but I find myself wanting to hear less runs and more melody from this magnificent performer.

You stupid fuck. Even Vicente himself said that Paco is the best that ever played the instrument. Paco, then everybody else. But Vicente and Gerardo Nunez are the only one's who are close to him.

Is it just me, or is Vicente actually starting to look like Paco as he gets older?
Maybe you had a 'duende' overdose and couldn't really think properly, but flamenco guitar as a style has taken huge influence from "classical" (this is a very, very broad term) guitar tradition. Many pieces of Sabicas and such legends, for instance, could pass as "classical" as far as technique and structure are concerned. Classical guitar is every bit as demanding and "feelings" as la guitarra flamenca and to even enter into the area of somehow ranking them is just not serious. Lo siento, tío.
it's not right to say that flamenco is superior to classical guitar, I've played classical guitar for over 7 years and I've been playing flamenco for the past three years. Classical guitar is one of the foundations of Flamenco.
definately, the flamenco rasquedo's for example are very different approach to guitar then classical, and some of the golpe techniques and lots of other stuff actually
my flamenco teacher points out and corrects my classical technique all the time
no dude, Flamenco was born from Andaluces in the region of Andalucia and it was formed when Arabs conquered Spain over 500 years...I´m sure Flamenco is older that classical guitar :P
Flamenco and classical guitarists are evolving and learning a little from each other. As a classical guitarist, I have learned from flamenco. Also, I have learned from South American players (they have their own approach). On the other hand, flamenco players like Vicente Amigo have acquired a better tone and a variety of "colors of sound", something that was always a highlight of good classical guitarists.

Oh, sick with a Spanish accent. He is above normal, my friend. His communication is exquisite. He reaches in and grabs the heart right out of its cage.
@dairenshi I'm sorry... I really can't and not many could imagine to compare him to Chopin! If anything more mainstream, I would say he's the modern Paganini of the guitar. He's a cannon!

and since im a musician whos experienced playing both classical and flamenco
i will say that both are equally difficult in their own way.
in classical music, depending on what period music you are playing, for example baroque music is difficult to get both harmonies played equally.
and what makes a flamenco musician talented is how he puts his emotion into the music, while maintaining a smooth rhythm.
